Edit emails and confirm members (feature)
I've looked around and couldn't find the answer to this. The groups.io feature-list by plan level indicates that "Edit emails and confirm members" starts only at the Premium level. Does this mean that Basic plans are open to the public, and that only Premium levels can moderate whether a member can subscribe? I hope this isn't so and is just a wording issue. Since we had to join at the Premium level to do the YG transfer I can't really tell if we would lose this ability if we eventually switched to Basic.

The second part means that you can confirm an email/account that's new to GIO instead of having the member use the normal email channel.? All basic functions are included in a Basic group. Ok, 1st part clear. 2nd part... not sure.
By normal email channel, do you mean using the [email protected] method of subscribing? And then the Premium extra bit to "confirm an email/account that's new to GIO"... if someone creates a new GIO account, then we could confirm someone trying to subscribe with that rather than by email? I've not seen this in action so I can't quite picture it ;-) I'm imagining the new GIO account person would then search the list of GIO groups, select my group, and ask to be a member on their GIO home page. So, without being a Premium account we couldn't accept such requests? |

So, without being a Premium account we couldn't accept such requests? If someone is totally new to the site and has not yet created an account, an attempt will be made by the site to create one for them.? Part of this procedure is for them to reply to an email sent to them, thus confirming a good email address.? If they've attempted to join your group (at the same time or later), you'll see a pinkish NC next to their email address on your member list.? On a Premium group, you can confirm that address instead of them replying to the email they received.? Some folks make a mistake when entering their email address, others don't read the confirmation email.? If you confirm the address and it's incorrect, it will start bouncing, so be sure it's right before confirming for them if you go that route. I think part of the confirmation process is also to have the

subscriber confirm that they did indeed ask to join the group. It is possible for someone else to have entered their address in a sign up form like the one available on the Promote page. So in my mind the confirmation is checking to see that the email address is valid and that the person actually wants to join the list. Jonathan On 11/18/2019 1:20 PM, Duane wrote:
