A few general questions
Dakotta Alex
I sent this to the support@ 5 days ago but didn't hear?back. Maybe someone knows the answer to these questions? 1. Can i track (open / read rates)? 2. Can I moderate messages (for 50 groups easily) 3. I want to integrate the sign-up process on my WordPress site, is that easy to do? 5. Can I change the?@domain to my own URL name? Thank you all in advance! ![]() |

2. Can I moderate messages (for 50 groups easily)Do you mean that you want to see a list of pending messages for all 50 groups simultaneously so that you can accept/reject them in bulk? I know of no such feature. I suppose one could write something like that if the API supported it, but I've had a quick look at the API and I could not see any function that allow one to output a list of all pending messages to a single list (anyone, correct me if I'm wrong). /api You can set the groups so that whenever a message is pending, you get an e-mail notification about it, and you can accept or reject a pending message by replying to the e-mail or forwarding it to a certain address (in fact, I believe you don't even need to "reply" or "forward" -- you can simply send an empty e-mail to the relevant automatically generated e-mail address). And, I guess, if you have a programmer friend, it would be possible to write some script that reads the mailbox file regularly to grab these special e-mail addresses along with the messages and output them in a useful format. However if you want to link check (we do that on the travel group I moderate) or remove long signatures, you need to click through to the group. 1. Can i track (open / read rates)?
- I'm not aware of anything to track read rates on the Web forum. For practical purposes there is no feedback from email clients opening messages without doing something like adding web bugs (somewhat anti-social) 2. Can I moderate messages (for 50 groups easily) - If you wish to, every message sent to a group can be moderated and approvals are straightforward. Whether you have the manpower (moderators) to manage this effectively is entirely down to you 3. I want to integrate the sign-up process on my WordPress site, is that easy to do? - Don't believe you can. The API currently supports Google and Facebook; Single Sign-On is only available to Enterprise subscriptions 4.?Can I change the?@domain to my own URL name? - Only with an Enterprise subscription; details in the Wiki if you feel like spending $2200/year... |

3. I want to integrate the sign-up process on my WordPress site, is that easy to do?I'm not sure about integrating -- AFAIK the actual signing up has to be done on the Groups.io site, but you can put buttons, fill-in fields and links on web sites where people can very easily sign up. /g/YOURGROUPNAME/promote Do you mean that you want people who have signed up to your WordPress site to automatically become members of your Groups.io group? And be automatically removed from your Groups.io group when they deregister or are removed from your WordPress site? It's possible to synchronise membership with Slack, but honestly I have no idea how that works. Apparently, Groups.io will check every now and then if any new members are in your Slack team, and if so, it will add them to the Groups.io group automatically. But that would add an extra layer of complexity for you. /g/zalang/syncconfig Samuel |

Dakotta wrote:I have the same opinion as Derek, in that the only way that you would be able to track whether people opened the mail is using a web beacon (though unlike Derek I don't object to it). There is no way to add the web beacon to posts made by others, unless you set all messages to moderate and then manually insert the customised web beacon into the message before allowing it to be sent to the group. Nothing prevents you from putting a web beacon in your own mails -- but since the same message will be sent to several people, the web beacon that everyone receives with that message will be identical, so it won't tell you *which* people opened the mail, only *how many* people opened it. You also can't put a web beacon in the footer, because the footer is plain text (in "HTML" view, the footer is somewhat formatted but you can't control the formatting yourself). I know of no feature available to higher paying users of Groups.io that would allow such a thing. Samuel |

Would this be something that might interest you? Sorry, I know very little about what single sign-on systems entail. /static/pricing Samuel |
Also be aware that web beacons don't work in certain email clients.
The one I use has a sandbox of sorts when it renders HTML in messages that won't let the beacon work. It also prevents certain types of malware from executing from within the message unless it's an attachment and I click on it. I use Forte Agent, which may be on it's final iteration but it's a fantastic Usenet newsgroup reader as well as a decent email client. I still use it because of those security features. Exactly Samuel! (i just want to estimate open/read rates) per email going out (from anyone) I don't need to know specifics. Do you know if this is something that could be done on any end (via API)? I was going to install dadamailproject (they have a discussion list), but I do like the features here on Groups.io. The only things that are missing are the tracking for emails. I understood the enterprise version fixes my other problem (the?@), i'm not at that size yet to change my domain for that cost, and the moderation is easy (comes to my inbox). Any ideas how to fix the one issue on tracking? (anyone)? :) On Sun, Nov 17, 2019 at 9:39 PM Samuel Murray <samuelmurray@...> wrote: On 17 Nov 2019 19:24, Derek Milliner wrote regarding *tracking open/read ![]() |

"no tracking", although I have to admit I cannot find anywhere at the moment that specfically says either. On that basis I'm not sure how Mark would react to someone operating tracking on a specific group or groups. Chris |

It would be nice to have the option (and if enacted), could be anonymous for usage.? And users would of course have to accept the privacy policy messages are being tracked for open rates.
