How Can I Export 1300 Members List from YG #yahoo

Dale Dreher

Hello,?

There was a mess up with my group transfer and I am not able to get help from Groups.IO tech support at this for whatever reason.

I can fix the problem myself if I could just Export all 1300 members in a CSV from Yahoo.

I went to Yahoo and could only Export 1000 members.? It was in a CSV and easily converted into Excel, from which I was able to import or bulk add those 1000 members into Groups.IO.

My problem is how to I get the left behind 300 members?? Is there a way to get the full list of 1300 members exported from my Yahoo group in a CSV style?

Option 1:

(you have to ask the script for "help" so that you can see how to ask for just the member list and not all the messages too)

Option 2:
Pay $25 for PG Offline.

You can try with PG offline - the paid one costing $25

If you go to the "Management --> Manage Members" page, you see a partial listing of your membership. But it's one of those "self growing" pages -- if you scroll to the bottom, it shows you more data, and if you have enough patience, you can get the entire listing.

You can then select all of the data from that table, copy and paste it into a text file, and with a little manual cleanup, you get a TSV, or tab-separated values file. Most spreadsheets and database programs will be able to import that directly, or there are tools to convert it to CSV.

Before we made the jump to groups.io, I used to do this on a monthly basis to make sure that the Yahoo membership listing was in sync with our website's database of members. I wrote some custom Perl scripts to automate most of it, but doing it manually as described above as a one-time thing is not all that bad.

There seem to be mixed results with the group-archiver tool, PGO definitely works very nicely, thank you, and will export your member list to CSV; you will need moderator (at least) access to your Y! group but I guess that's not a problem for you :-).

One zero-cost option that may be open to you, depending on what you're planning for the Y! group. You could simply remove 300 (or so) transferred members form the group bringing you within the Y! limit?

Hallo Dale,

What I did a while ago was to export 1000 at a time.?
by Download what you can and save or pasting into a document or straight into the spreadsheet.?

Then going down the list and re-selecting the next 1000 yahoo group members, add that to the first save.? When you have them all there is? just a bit of fiddle to eliminate the overlaps.

OK,
Tony

I have done this for a couple of groups with about 1200 members. The export function will give you the first 1000 emails alphabetically. Save the csv as groupmemberlist1 and note the last email address in the list. Then go back to the member list on the YG. Sort emails into REVERSE alphabetical by clicking on the small triangle next to the word Email at the top of the column. Then select all the list data from the z addresses back to where your 1000 list ended. Copy and paste into a spreadsheet such as Excel and manually go through and delete everything but the emails. Save as groupmemberlist2. Tedious but doable. Linda N

Dale,

In addition to the other suggestions, there's an add-in for the Chrome browser that will produce a CSV with the entire list.:

It is free, but takes a bit of technical effort to install and run.

Shal, isn't it standard procedure when something goes wrong in the transfer process, to delete the transfer and start over?? And no extra charge?? I thought I'd read that happening here with other groups.

Well, there is the manual method :-)

Press the PageDown button every now and then, for about 10 minutes, until all members have loaded, then press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, wait about 20 seconds for it to populate the clipboard, then paste into a text editor.

I just did this for a group with 5000 members. Vivaldi browser.
