New group not functioning

I set up a new private group (onteye), and tried some test emails, all was well.

I then invoked the automated transfer from yahoogroups. Only about 75% of the messages transferred.

But, the real issue, is that now the group does not accept any posts at all.

Does it take a while to "recover" after a transfer, and function again?

All the posting settings appear to be the same.

Have you received the email saying that the transfer is complete?? If not, it's still in process so things may be sluggish.? Also check your status page.

Here is the message I received, at 19:47 today, local time now is 22:15.

Hello,

The transfer of your Yahoo Group onteye to your Groups.io group onteye is complete.

We've transferred the following parts of your group:

  • Members
  • Messages
  • Photos
  • Files
  • Links
  • Databases

IMPORTANT: Yahoo Groups has been very unreliable lately. If you find that you are missing Photos, Files or Messages, it is because we were unable to export them due to problems with Yahoo Groups. Also, we do not transfer calendar events.

Here are some statistics:

  1. Total Members Processed: 470
  2. Successfully Added: 433
  3. Bounced Members (Skipped): 36
  4. Moderated Members: 5
  5. Members on Digest: 2
  6. Undisclosed Emails (Skipped): 0

The following email addresses were not added:

  1. Orest Skrypuch : Already subscribed

36 email addresses were not added because they were bouncing.

0 photos were transferred.

6 files were transferred.

1 links were transferred.

0 databases were transferred.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].

Cheers,
The Groups.io Team

Here is the home page. It says the last post is Oct 17, I presume 2019, but I can't see it in the messages section. Messages only go to 2002.

Perhaps it is still indexing or something??

I also emailed support@, but haven't heard back.

Are they a 9-5 M-F kind of thing? Do they generally respond eventually?

I'm dead in the water at moment, as the group will not echo any new posts, they just disappear, even though it worked fine before the transfer of data from YG.

I think more like 9-9-9!

Would it help if someone else joined your group? Sent a message or two to your group to see what is happening??
If you are moderating messages, you could make sure it had Test in the subject line.

And have you checked in your activity in Admin?

Hmm.

In trying to post a message to the group, once the message is sent, nothing happens. There is no bounced message back. There is no acknowledgement on the site. There is no echo of that message to the group. it just disappears as if it had never been sent.

I have sent several test messages. They are just gone. I scoured the various settings, to see if something was turned "OFF", but it doesn't seem so. A little frustrating!

The odd thing, is that the group was all working fine before the auto-transfer from YG. I posted a bunch of test messages, and they were all sent out fine.

I'll try adding another member, to see if that wakes up the software, or see if I can actually do that.

I checked the Activity page.

There is no activity listed, since the import.

I can add a member, so some functions work.

* Orest

I tried posting as the new added member (alternate email), and same thing, nothing happened. The post just disappeared, not acknowledged, not rejected and not forwarded.

I tried posting to the group from a NON-subscribed email address, it was properly rejected, and got a rejection message back.

Just for some reason, valid posts are not getting in.

Can you confirm that you are still the Group Owner; please don't assume, check!

Assuming that you are still listed as the Owner have your attempts to post been from your own (registered) email address?

Now this is a very long shot; check your settings; under Spam Control make sure that Announcement Group is not checked. (As an Owner or Moderator this should not make any difference, but things seem to be getting desparate!)

YES, shown as the owner.

YES, from my original registered email address. (and others)

Only the first item (restricted membership is checked), Annoucement Group is NOT checked. I did check all of these, save and then uncheck them again and resaved, just in case something is munged deep in the settings.

NO difference.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Now, this is interesting.

I temporarily set the group to allow posts from non-members, and sent a message from an unsubscribed email address.

I got a message that moderation was required for that message, as you would expect.

I replied to the notice, which should release it, it didn't.

Went onto the PENDING page, it showed that test message, ticked it and selected APPROVE. That message unticked itself and remained in the list!

So clearly, there is something blocking message posts at a low system elve. I wonder if an internal setting that is used to stop posts temporarily during the import process, got left on or something??

Are you absolutely, positively sure that you are addressing the messages to the group? No mispellings, no extra punctuation, etc.? What happens when you reply to a previous message?

Dave

Other suggestions in this page from GMF wiki -?

Your posts are showing up here! A puzzle.
Are you emailing or going from the GMF group homepage??

That would be an entirely logical conclusion. Time for an email to [email protected] I think.

Yes, posted to [email protected], not sure if the attachement will show here:

I have no received message to reply to. The several test messages I sent BEFORE the import, when it was still working, are deleted.

* Orest

I did try to reply to a message in the groups.io webview.

It said the reply was sent, but reply did not appear.

Yes, I sent them an email yesterday, and bumped it again today. Haven't heard anything yet.
