Newbie Here -- a [transfer] Question

Dan Robinson

I am seeking to transfer a Yahoo group over to Groups.io??? I have already created the group at the free level, but see now
that a transfer requires at least a year at the premium level, which I am not sure members of the Yahoo group will be willing to
do.

Can someone clarify for me whether it is an absolute requirement now by Groups.io that premium status exist in order to
have Groups do a transfer?

Thanks

Yes, for an automatic, full transfer, you must pay for a year of premium.? You could always spend (a lot of) time moving everything manually, but unless each person moves their own files, photos, etc, all of them will be "owned" by the person that does it.? Also see:

If you pay for a month of premium, you could add all the members using Direct add. /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Direct-Add-From-Yahoo

I believe that to be true, Dan.? I had that same issue when I moved a Yahoo group to groups.io.? We only had about 25 members so inviting them all individually was not a great chore.? However transferring all the photos manually was a chore, as there were a great many.? However it did give me the opportunity to edit out the really old or irrelevant ones and save some space.? The process involved downloading the picture from Yahoo and uploading it to groups.io.? The download was a simple matter of clicking so I have all of the pictures locally but only the better ones went back up.? I've had no complaints.

Duane -- thanks for that.? My question now -- I have established the new group and set premium level.? Do I assume correctly that now that I have made a transfer request, Groups.io will follow through within ????? period of time to move files, photos, conversations etc?
