E-mail Addresses and Footer

 

Hello,

Sorry if this has been previously addressed. I'm not having any luck searching the group archive. One of the groups I manage was transferred over today (yay!), however, I've already received a few complaints and wasn't sure if I messed up a setting or what. The first is that the e-mail addresses of people posting are being changed. For example, a post I made had the e-mail address as tubaman21@... and another as railroadshortlinescc@.... It appears that this is only happening with yahoo addresses. Is this a setting or what is going on here?

The second complaint I got was about the default footer. It doesn't bother me, but it bothered someone enough to complain. Is there a way to remove it or shorten it? Or is it a default that can't be changed?

That is done with Yahoo Mail and a few other email services. The short story is that those email services don't want your messages delivered through a mailing list, at least not under your name. The reasons are basically the same as Yahoo Group's mangling of email From addresses.

If you want the long version, the keyword is DMARC.

Nope, it is something you just have to live with.

Nope. You can lengthen it with a group-specific footer, but you can't shorten it.

Thanks, Shal. Those issues didn't bother me, I just wanted to have some reasoning when I told the user I can't change them.
