Problems adding members/shutting down/restarting
Hello, With Yahoo Groups shutting down in a few days, our mailing list Teaching Jobs in France, which send out job offers for teaching jobs (many adjunct or part-time), needed to migrate to another platform, and both Groups.io and Google Groups were the most recommended. Doing a little research, I found that Groups.io had some very favorable reviews, so it was chosen. In creating the group just about 24 hours ago, there was the possibility of adding ALL the previous 706 members of our group, which I downloaded from Yahoo Groups. However, I didn't immediately add them and clicked on the next button. The new Teaching Jobs in France group was created and a few hours later approved. However, I saw that I could no longer ADD members, just SEND invitations. Wanting to go back, I decided to delete the group (of which I was the only member at the time) and create a new one of the same name. But when I tried to use the same email address in reforming our group, the site said I couldn't because it had already been taken. Assuming that my removal of the group needed approval, I have been waiting, but nothing has happened and the original group still exists. AND, in the meantime, several dozen of our members have signed up to join this new group. So I went ahead and copied the email addresses of our 700+ members for them to be sent invitations. Because of the numbers, however, we are waiting for approval before the invitations are sent out. SO, where are we? Will our group be shut down, needing to be recreated? Or will it go on functioning as if I had not chosen to delete it? Any insights you can provide would be much appreciated! ??? ??? ??? Many thanks, ??? ??? ??? Re: Calendar page has no data
All my groups' Calendars are still displaying as blank, but one of my groups just sent a Reminder 8 minutes ago on time (from its blank Calendar).

Three users (two owners and a member) all have same result. ?Two are Google users.
As far as I know, we all signed on correctly. |

images on mobile phones
I received this inquiry today. It relates to iPhones but it also happens on Android. I thought if the person has an account on that they would be able to see them, but I think this person does have an account as well as being a member of my group: "I still don¡¯t get images on my iPhone when someone attaches a JPEG. On
my computer, I signed in once and get all the images now. But on my
iPhone, I have to sign in each time for each individual image. It¡¯s a
pain in the butt. Does anyone
have this same problem, and is there a solution?" Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. 919-599-2892 |

Re: How to make edits without emailing everyone in the group

BillSF9c,
I am awful with typos, Chuck. So I do an Edit or two BUT this is notA member doesn't have the "don't send" option, only moderators/owners can make an edit without sending the new version. I'm not sure if you knew that, but it sometimes trips up mods who think that members have the same options. I HATE when, because of this problem, some owners simply shut downDitto, though I do have some small sympathy for the group owners who don't want to spend the time trying to educate their members about responsible use of the Edit ability. Re: member unsubscribe
Bruce,
This screenshot shows what actually happens Ok, so option (a). Probably the lesser evil. At least it clearly explains what happened and what to do. (You could have made that a link, BTW.) I still think an mailto link to the +unsubscribe address may be moreThe argument against a mailto link is that the +unsubscribe command requires confirmation. The concern was that the confirmation requests would not be received (or not noticed) by the sender. Then the complaints flow in about this broken system that won't let them unsubscribe. Under Stephanie's circumstance, with a login required, the need for email confirmation may seem the lesser evil. But Mark says it isn't supposed to be that way, so I guess it is up to him to figure out what's going wrong with what is supposed to be a streamlined web confirmation. Stephanie,
So to test the below, I signed up my daughter from her device (she hasSince that seems to directly contradict how the system is said to work, you should report that in beta. Probably best as a new topic with the #bug hashtag: In your message I think you should cite this answer: Before convert my entire yahoo group over any chance this is a settingNope. It isn't supposed to be that way, I don't know if you need the screenshot, but you could include it for emphasis. Maybe there's something about the fact this is being handled on a mobile device. Is a log kept of messages sent from Owner address
So, you can send (or reply) to individuals via the web interface (/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/sending-and-receiving-group-owner-email-messages/sending-messages-from-the-owner-email-address)
This works fine, but I don't see a record of these direct emails under Admin->Activity. Are these messages logged anywhere?? - John Mc |
