This was not a spam-type removal. Those explicitly say so. This was removal by a moderator.

I cannot comment on how that might have happened, but as worded it makes no sense at all. You have been unsubscribed clearly suggests that someone else took an action that unsubscribed you, so to then say If this was a mistake, you can resume your subscription... is bizarre. If it was someone else's action that caused it, it ought to be that person to whom the sentence is addressed, not you. Had it started "You have been unsubscribed" from... then the rest of the message would make sense, but it doesn't.

Given that this is not the first time the wording of a "standard message" from Groups.io (as opposed to a Group Owner / Moderator) has caused confusion within the last 10 days or so perhaps it is time to make a request that all "standard messages" should be visible for review by Owners and Moderators to make sure there aren't any others that are less than 100% clear in their meaning.

Regards,

Chris

Renaming group

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

I want to rename one of my groups, that I have not yet transferred over from Yahoo, because I've decided to make it a subgroup on another one.? Sorry this is a basic question, but to rename it, do I simply change the Group Email Address in the General Settings edit screen?? I know I have to redo the Group description, do I have to change it anywhere else?? I know I don't want to simply delete because I want to use the name for the subgroup, so it needs to be available.

And so then my transfer will be:

Group A, Group B which are separate Yahoo Groups => Group A with Group B as a subgroup.

Will everything from Group B be put into the subgroup, all the old files, archived messages, etc?

I also assume I should create the subgroup now before the transfer?

One other unrelated rookie question about hashtags - can they go in both the subject line and/or in the body of the message?

Thanks for the help.

unmask emails in Calendar?

Although I have email addresses set as unmasked in messages/ archives for our restricted group, I just noticed today that they are still hidden in Calendar events. So, things like "RSVP to susiejones@...." require someone to look up that person somewhere else to find the full email address. Is there another setting I'm missing? I have used spaces in the past and I'll try that (e.g. susiejones @ gmail.com - it worked for Y!G) but wondered if there's a more elegant solution.

We've only been in Groups.IO for 3 weeks but love it so far - and I'm learning a ton from this Forum!

Thanks,

Barb M

Re: Groups.io icon - SVG format -- is there one?

Just a professional observation here. I can see the real value in using SVG (scalable vector graphics) files. Such a file holds its sharpness, regardless of the size it's displayed, and often in a smaller file than a bitmap. However I don't know if groups.io can even accept SVG files for display`.

The groups.io logo, while attractive, is not technically difficult to recreate. I, and certainly others here, have the capability to redraw the logo in a vector format and export it as an SVG file. But unless anyone knows what rights Mark has and what restrictions the original image has, no reputable graphic designer would touch it. I'm a strong believer in copyrights and I'm very certain Mark is as well. Such things can get a site shut down quicker than anything. However Mark might be able to obtain an SVG version of the logo from the creator, under license, for use by member groups.

My suggestion of using an online image conversion site turned out to be a very poor idea. It appears that most, if not all, of the online sites use the same CAD program that embeds a watermark into the resultant image. A sort of ransomware, I guess.

Perhaps an svg file isn't really necessary and the png file ( /img/org.1/mainlogo.png ) would be sufficient.

No, it doesn't serve as a name. If you include just an email address, it will say Dear [blank space].?

Yes I believe so.

Can't say that I've verified that though.

Re: Spell Checker

Robert,
The word typo is not underlinrd. How do you quote message you're replying to? When replying from my Outlook account miss spelled words are underlined.
I usually post from Thunderbird via my Gmail account. Thunderbird includes a quote of the original when replying.

When I post from Groups.io I generally use the Quote Whole Post button and edit down from there. See the tips and tricks wiki page.

This sometimes involves trickiness in the use of Enter (line break) versus Shift+Enter (paragraph break) to constrain the span of the blockquote when interspersing my text with the quoted text.

The other method is to select part of the message before clicking Reply. That will insert a quote of just the selected part.

Odd. I'm typing into the reply box in GMF's page (/g/GroupManagersForum/message/6571). The word typo is not underlinrd. How do you quote message you're replying to? When replying from my Outlook account miss spelled words are underlined.

That would be nice. I don't delete, but if I ever had to bulk delete for some reason, that would be awesome.

Take care all.L

Hi Robert,
I think you need to post what hardware & browser you are using to post via GIO. Using a Windows 10 Laptop, I tested writing a post to this group in Google Chrome and Firefox and both underlined spelling errors.

Robert,

But that doesn¡¯t work when I¡¯m composing on my io site.

Odd. It works for me now, typing into the Reply box under your message in GMF's Message page. The word tpyo shows a red wavy underline, and right-clicking on it offers "typo" as a correction.

This is in Firefox on Win10. Your browser and OS may have options that control whether spell check is offered.

Shal
(my name too is underlined as a possible misspelling, but the offered "corrections" are all wrong)

The one in my browser (Firefox) underlines typos for me (but I have to correct them ;>)? I would think most browsers would have one.
