Just bear in mind that it will then have to be rewritten to match its longer term purpose of welcoming new subscribers when they join later.

I think I would also argue that it is much more important that you forewarn your members (assuming that you haven't already) that a move to Groups.io is imminent using a post to your existing Yahoo group. If the first thing people know about it is an email from some organisation called Groups.io of which they have never previously heard then there is a risk that a fair number will regard the email as suspect and mark it as spam, which in turn risks their being automatically removed. See here for the GMF wiki about this.

A bit of advance notice might prevent a lot of confusion later.

Sure, just change them on the Settings page and save them.? You may need to remind folks to delete any bookmarks to the original name.? You'll also likely need to edit some of the notices since they'll have the original information in them.

You can set what they do, click on their name and you should see lots of boxes you can tick for what they can do

Re: Importing messages

I would be very interested if there was a free way to do this

I have one member who was able to import a database.

Locked Re: Latest info on the Pricing Structure #admin

Yes it was a good decision to revert that.

But do we have any possibility to enter the 110 dollars fee and then free groups ?

because at the time we were told to make a decision before 9am, it was 110 dollars every year to come and our groups would not have been able to pay every year, so I could not opt for the transfer.

Now that it reverted to 110 dollars once and for all, it has turned to 220 dollars.

I have received no answer about some flexibility in time before the higher fee applies.

Re: Group Upgrade Payment Debacle (was [email protected] e-mail address?)

Dear Charlie

I can understand your point.
I have tried on the beta forum to argue that the deadline overnight was just unbelievably unfair.

I did not even get a response.

Also the fact that in the announcement, Mark Fletcher said any group would be for a fee after the first paying year, while at first we were supposed to pay 110 dollars just once, and could then revert to the free plan.?
On october 22nd, MF changed his policy and said groups would be free again.

I had to make a decision as you before 9am and decided NOT to migrate because I knew my group would POSSIBLY help me out with a one time payment of 110 dollars, but could not pay every year and would even be appalled at the change of policy.

And now I missed the deadline for the 110 dollars fee that I was painstakingly trying to persuade my two groups to pay.

I dont even speak about the several other French adoption and handicap children group whom I am not a moderator of, and which I was trying to get informed by translating the info into French and explaining to them that they could move and save their archives !

Everybody there is upset at such a short notice, sudden upheavals, and high fees (for us in France it IS a lot of money).

Several people have asked to get a week or two delay to get the money together and get their groups up for the move, such as you do.

We get absolutely no answer.?

I understand io groups has many defenders, those who moved when it was free or would afford the money easily.?

At this point, is there any point in trying to restore some flexibility or is this their last word ??

Re: Notice of Pricing Change

Lukas Louw

I started a new group in IO Groups, and paid the $110 annual Premium fee before the price increase, and in the group Billing Overview it shows that the group plan is indeed Premium Yearly.

So I started the process of transferring a Yahoo group over, sent an invitation from it to [email protected]

This was more than 12 hours ago, and have not yet seen that show up in my Yahoo group as member or received an email about making it a member.

How long does that usually take, and is their a support email for IO Groups if it does not happen?

Lukas

Re: A few questions about transferring a group

I may be tilting at windmills, but it has been sometime since this thread started and I'm hoping for new possibilities.

A group of members of a Ygroup are trying to move it to groups.io. The owner of the group has abandoned it, and there is only one moderator, who cannot make additional moderators. I'm wondering if the transfer agent can be set to use the sole moderator's credentials to perform the transfer?

changing email address as owner of a group

HI-
I accidentally created a group using the wrong email address. Is there a way for me to keep the members and change which email address I get delivery to as the owner?

Thanks,

Who would the welcome message be sent to exactly if your members aren't in the GIO system?

Hello Bruce (or anyone who knows for certain) . . . can you please verify:

Is the above to say that Premium Groups which were/are in existence before OCT 22nd are grandfathered in at the current (old annual $110/yr) rate in perpetuity as long as they pay each year and do not allow their Premium subscription to lapse?

It's unclear ¨Cto me at least¨C whether existing Premium Groups' fees will remain the same or not after their current year ends. Or was our annual fee just grandfathered for the remainder of each of our existing dues years?

Enquiring minds and whatnot . . . .

Groups.io uses a cookie to determine if you're logged in.? It gets renewed every time you visit the site, so you may never need to log in again.? If you don't visit, the cookie expires after 30 days.? Some devices automatically delete cookies, so you'd need to log in every time.

You stay logged in for 30 days.
"You will stay logged in for 30 days, extended each time you visit. If your login expires you can repeat this process any time you wish. You may also repeat this process on other computers, browsers, or devices you wish to use, you do not need to log out of one to use another."

No, that can't be done with a Poll.? You could accomplish the same thing by having a thread/topic concerning your poll question and having people reply to it.

Poll with Answers Submitted by Individuals #polls

Hi Everyone,
We are trying to create a poll that would allow Members to submit their own information, as opposed to having to select from pre-determined answers.?
Is there any way to do this?
Thanks in advance.
