Dave, How about change of email address? In the membership tab of the Y!Group's activity log, search for whatever email address you have for him. If that turns up a "Member changed email address"

Harlan, It has always been the case that using the web pages to control one's subscription requires being signed in to Yahoo. But that is not the same as being subscribed to a group with a Yahoo Mail
