You may want to remind your member that logging ?in through requesting a link is a standard way of getting to your group homepage. Clicking on the emailed link logs you in for 30 days on that device

There is a canned welcome message to unrestricted groups or to a member approved for a restricted group. But you can edit that message - in Admin, Settings, Member Notices tab. See

Yes, they will receive a standard Groups.io boilerplate message which you can customise but cannot stop (it's a legal requirement in some jurisdictions). They will also receive a Welcome member notice
