Re: GIO changes from Mark
Samuel, I believe you are incorrect, but it could be a matter of definitions. Let's use these: *Upload:* Messages from Yahoo Groups which have been captured on an individual's computer are transferred

Re: Moving to Groups.io (without the Easy Yahoo Group transfer mechanism) #howtoguide
Thanks, Shal. That's what I was asking. I thought I'd made that clear in my initial question. Unfortunately Bruce talked about putting them in subgroups which confused the issue, hence the question.

Re: GIO changes from Mark
It is my understanding that the new companion program from PG Offline does not upload messages to Groups.io, but forwards messages to Groups.io. Samuel

Re: Moving to Groups.io - help page #howtoguide
Thanks Frances, I understand full well how the system works. I'm just asking about possible problems with a subtle nuance to the process. I've been an old dog around here for a number of years.

Re: Moving to Groups.io (without the Easy Yahoo Group transfer mechanism) #howtoguide
Thanks for your thoughts, Duane. There's only one Y! group and I want to put the messages into the successor groups.io group. The only merging would be a few recent messages that would overlap. Dano

Re: Moving to Groups.io (without the Easy Yahoo Group transfer mechanism) #howtoguide
You'd end up with 2 YG in one GIO group, correct?? There's no problem with that and it's been done a few times that I know of (some intentional, some not. ;>)? It's only critical if you want to keep

Jim, That depends on how much "prep" work you've done. It is too late to use the Easy Yahoo Group Transfer method, and it is too late to use PG Offline or similar tools to download the Yahoo Group
