Re: SOME HELP FOR THOSE UNDERGOING A TRANSFER

Thanks for the guideline.? but have one dumb question.? How pray tell does one check ones file and photo allocations for size in Yahoo?Go to your Yahoo group logged on as Owner. If you open the Files area there should be a line at the top that says "using xxx bytes of maximum yyyMB" (or whatever). Now click on Photos and open the Albums, where you should see a similar line. To be safe, also do this for the Photomatic section (I really am not sure what this even means). To my knowledge only the Files and the Photos in Albums are transferred; so add these numbers up and you should have a reasonably close estimate.? I believe Yahoo limits are 100 MB for files and 100 GB for photos. Groups.io limits depend on what plan you are on; free groups are limited to 1 GB total. If you have a lot of big photos in your group you could easily end up over your allocation. See /static/pricing Another thing to look into:? If you establish a maximum size of photos in photo albums in groups.io, larger photos will be rescaled during the transfer and that may help you remain under the limit.?I suggest that 1024x1024 should be adequate for viewing online; those subscribers with a real need to share print-quality images can always upload them to cloud storage and send a link instead. See Admin->Settings->Features->Photos->Max Size in Photos Section.? Hope this helps, Bruce? |
Re: owner getting every message posted
It may be that your service is set to permit postings by individuals, but only after the first message has been moderated.? I am in this situation, also.? -When a new person joins, I must manually allow this person to post.
Sign in, go to ADMIN, then MEMBERS;? Look for the new member, click on the (??-I forgot) button, then scroll down to see the several options for this person.? Click on the second option from the top of this short list of about five at the end of the settings for this individual.? I have found that I must do this each and EVERY time that I get a new member that has joined!? I had read earlier that the .io was allowing all messages, without moderation, yet I must moderate every new member!? How can I set my group to allow all members to post as soon as they join?? (Maybe I am misinterpreting the basic setup; I am able to manage OK, but it was a surprise to me.)? (!!) -Mike- |

Dan,
This 3rd one is the only one I need and you can ignore the other two. Please be aware that GMF is a user-to-user help group. There are no Groups.io employees reading this list. Your comment should be directed to [email protected] instead. But before you do that, if you see the same Yahoo Group listed more than once in the "In Process" list (and I'm not certain that's possible) you might want to check each in turn and cancel the requests you don't want. Error in Transfer Request needing explanation
#transfer
PACC Admin
Hi,
I Apologize if this is? repeat of a topic I tried to add yesterday, however I don't see it in the topics list so I must not have completed the post.?? I am one of the people who put in several requests for the transfer of one of my Yahoo Groups before I understood that it would take a week or two for one of the steps.? In my case I put? it in 3 times. The first two, I requested the transfer ot Yahoo Group? "PACameraCrews" to PACamera-Crew IO group.? ?Subsequently I discovered that what I really wanted was a subgroup, so the 3rd request was to transfer to subgroup [email protected].? This 3rd one is the only one I need and you can ignore the other two.?? Thanks -- Dan |

Re: Accessibility Features of Groups.io
Hi Albert, The following is based on a PC running Windows 10 using Firefox for my browser. I think you are seeing the Pending Approval list. When you click on the Member button on the left menu, it opens to "Pending Approval." If you click on "Pending Approval," the drop down menu has "Members" as the first item. When that opens, the "Download" button is in the same place to the right as on the "Pending Approval" page. After you click download, it produces a text list of your members, including the attributes. Right click on the list and select "Save Page As." It will open the save window with the file name memberlist.csv. Save it and use Excel to open. Do not save it as a text file because it is a mess to straighten out; don't ask how I know! I Co-Own a Genealogy list and we have a blind member who uses a screen reader. He has been able to navigate our site, including a searchable database we have outside of Groups.io. I'm very impressed by the technology. He is using JAWS (Job Access With Speech) which is produced in the USA by Freedom Scientific. I hope this helps, if you need anything more, please ask, Paul, Ohio, USA Gedmatch A228451, Cousin CGW A428058 & Cousin CSWC A866649 On Saturday, May 5, 2018, 12:27:16 AM EDT, Albert Ruel <albert.gtt@...> wrote: Hi all.? Re: Rename Group didn't work
Good day;
I would like to change the name of my .io group to reflect the new model radios that appear, which fall into the SDR (radio) category; If I do change the NAME of the user group: - Will the users still receive the previously set up emails from the group with no interaction or update needed?? (I am assuming this is the case.) - Will the users need to change the bookmarked URL to reflect the new user group name, or is this somehow accommodated automatically? The instructions have been viewed, but are not entirely clear on these items... Thank you from Mike, K0JTA |

It very well could be. Free groups are limited to 1 GB of server storage (see?/static/pricing?).? Large Yahoo groups may have more than that in stored files and photos.?If so, the transfer agent will stop your transfer and send you an email asking you what you want to do. The first thing I would do is go to Yahoo and check your file and photo allocations. If it looks like you could be over the limit, look for this email in your inbox and/or follow up with support. Re: error when beginning transfer
Pam
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI made the transfer email a moderator hours after they accepted my invite. They've now been a moderator in my group for over two weeks. And still I get the message every time I try to hit the "go ahead with transfer' button. As well, when I look at the pending transfers, the other four say "completed'. These two say they are waiting on action from me. Having already tried to go ahead a dozen times or more, maybe this is an issue for support? Thanks! Re: Accessibility Features of Groups.io
Unless you are an owner of the group, you will need to have the proper permission set for your account to access the complete list.? If you have that, you can go to Admin > Members, then select the Download button at the top.? That will open the list on screen as raw data in CSV format.? You can then save it to a file to be opened in a spreadsheet program such as Excel or LO Calc.
Mark mentioned on the beta group a couple of days ago that he's working on a full group export feature that he hopes to launch soon.
