Re: Subscription Approval Problem

Good point - I did double-check and make sure I was looking at the correct directory in the Admin section but no dice.

Emails marked incorrectly as "possibly spoofed"

A group I own has just been transferred from Yahoo.? Gmail is marking the emails I send to my group at the new location as "possibly spoofed."?? Is there any way to prevent this, or is it a gmail issue?

Re: What happens to the YG

The transfer process 'copies' the information from YG to Groups.io, and
nothing is lost at the YG. The only thing that is not transferred are
Attachments.

Shal,

Thanks for taking the time on this mystery. A good mystery puts a little spice into the mix though huh.

Don,

If I recall correctly, image drag-and-drop to the RTE only worked if the image was hosted somewhere, and the result was an "http" type of image.
So that likely answers the mystery: it wasn't an attachment, properly speaking.

Re: Archive Search

I didn't ask my groups if they wanted to move to another site or not, it was
a management decision on my part to move, because I was the main person
keeping it all together. I have not had a single complaint with the move,
and plenty of compliments for the fast action of getting us out of Y. While
the archive search engine on Y is more flexible, I don't think it is as good
as it was before the Neo upgrade. While most anything can be improved to
some degree, I'm pleased with the Groups.io search capabilities for now.

Subject: [GMF] Archive Search

As I mentioned, an individual in my yahoo discussion group is against the
move to IO because of having to learn a lot of stuff all over. One concern
of his was searching the archives. I see in IO that the search can only be
refined to messages and polls, and a time frame. I looked in yahoo and it
has a better search engine. It allows a search not only by time, but by
Subject, the presence or absence of a particular author, and the presence or
absence of a particular phrase in the message. Are there any plans to make
the search engine in IO more powerful?

Re: Moderating

"Historically this has a precedent in Yahoo Groups as well. For many years four user-to-user help groups, EmailList-Managers, ListHelp, GroupManagersForum, and Yahoo_group_of_groups were listed in Yahoo's help pages as alternate places for help."

I took over a Y group around 10 years ago (My, how time passes), and periodically I used whatever help I could find on Y. I have to say though, the help on Groups.io GMF is far superior to anything I experienced on Y.

Re: Deleting Messages

Loopy,

Where are the attachments stored because I don't need those either.
You access/delete them through the messages they came in with.

Except photos, those can be seen in the Emailed Photos album. But not deleted from there, I'm not sure why.

I would report that to Mark ([email protected]) and give him all the details, including copies of emails, a link to your activity log, etc.

So how can approve something I can't see?

Shal,

I never would have brought it up in this forum if (a) I had not mentioned it to Marlin several times in the past with no result (just refusal), and (b) the group was brought up publicly here.

It seems that he has finally removed the offending sentence. Thank you, Marlin.

As for Stan's comment that it wasn't intentional: it never is.

J,

Here's your improvement, absolutely free of charge:

/It is intended that any member who has an answer or comment will
voice their response. Rather than having any one authority source,
this is intended as more of a discussion group than some of the other
help groups./
"Your"? Have you cc'd the Group_Help+Owner address on this?

I'd suggest posting in the group, but there's a chicken-and-egg problem with that, I guess.

Re: Another part of Deleting Messages

There's not a way that I'm aware of.? It can (and does) get a bit confusing if you start looking for one of the messages that has appeared, but has been deleted.? I've thought about asking for a way to delete some items, but then realized that wouldn't be a good idea.? The activity log should really be a log of all activity..

Re: Deleting Messages

Thanks Shal

I guess it's not a problem.? I just thought it would be cleaner and neater not to have the messages there.? I'm kind of a perfectionist and don't like clutter ...lol
As for the Hashtags I just went right past that because I don't have a clue about those.

Where are the attachments stored because I don't need those either.? :)

Thanks for answering my question.??

Re: Groups.io logos, nomenclature, etc.

RFS

FWIW, our members have always referred to our neighborhood Yahoo Group as "the listserv". I'm guessing it's a holdover from back in the day when it actually WAS a listserv. And it would normally annoy me, except that's how 99% of our members use it, anyway. Most never login. They just do everything over email. That Groups.io lets them continue doing that ensures the "listserv" will live on. ;-)

But it sounded like your users would actually use it more of a collaboration site, so I didn't mention it before.

I have not joined group_help because the moderators have refused, on some kind of principle, to make a simple change to their group description - namely, removal of the parentheses in this sentence of their group description:

Not only would removing the parens eliminate the unfortunate (if unintentional) casting of women as an afterthought, but it would also go a long way towards improving the already suspect grammatical construction of the sentence.

C'mon, guys. Removing a set of parens. Why is that so hard?
