Set the default landing for custom domain

Is there a way to set the default landing page for my domain?

In an incognito window??redirects to?.
Logged in ?redirects to??or the last page I was on if it was a top level section like Feed or Calendar.

Is there a way to make the base domain always redirect to ? We have important info there that existing members have trouble locating.

Re: When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?

It was suggested to me that it was more useful to put in a link to the right section of the Help rather than copy and paste or reword it.

For one thing, the Help documents change from time to time when Mark makes changes to Groups.io. The message archive for this group is retrievable online and the link is more effective.

And no misspeaking - usually the Help is clear!

Also it does alert the person asking that for future needs, there is an online Help document that can be searched right now for the answer rather than relying on a moderator to approve the post and then wait for the best answers to flow in.

>>>at this point can we maybe now assist by removing these RIs ourselves?<<<

I¡¯m wondering about what/why the ¡°assisting¡±? There¡¯s nothing Mods beed to do and there's really no benefit to doing anything.

Certainly if a Mod wanted to, they could have removed RI members before now ¡ª but what¡¯s the difference anyway to letting nature take it¡¯s course?

Re: When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?

>>>instead of an answer, they're told where to look to find one.<<<

Ok, I¡¯ll say the quiet part aloud ¡ª this isn¡¯t mesnt to be arrogant so please don¡¯t infer that it¡¯s personal.

Because at this stage in life folks should have the skills (or should develop them) to use the MANY resources provided (MANY more than other forum/email listserves). ?And constantly being an answering service simply perpetuates everyone just firing questions rather than FIRST using those resources themselves. A LOT of someone else¡¯s time went into developing those resources and everyone should respect that.?

I do the same even as a ¡°mere¡± member of other ?(not gio) forums and on my gio forum. ?And it pisses me off when, after I point to the resource, someone else chimes in and babies them and enables the bad behavior. ?That¡¯s their choice, but they¡¯re not the one constantly responding and likely they just clicked on the resource and copy/pasted the answer to see themself in print. ?

When I ask, I¡¯ve tried to exhaust my resources,?not 100% but at least 50%. ?Sometimes i miss the mark.?

I realize everyone doesn¡¯t have the time or the skill (yet) to sleuth out things, but providing a direct link to answers is ¡°pretty darn good replying¡± in my book and 1,000% better than anyone will get elsewhere.?

All that said, if someone is in an immediate bind and needs info (like stuck on a trip and their boat engine won¡¯t start) sure, I get it and transmit it back, rather than pointing them in the right direction. ?

Theres a wide gray line, of course, when it¡¯s ¡°better¡± to simply answer and when the alternative is ¡°better¡± (however one defines ¡°better.¡±)

caveat: this is IMO and not necessarily any Mod¡¯s opinion. ?But, just sayin.?

BTW, there¡¯s a search function that would easily find the most-recent post about ¡°reverification¡± on the Beta group.?

Re: When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?

There was no interpretation necessary. Mark Fletcher stated on March 4th he was going to wait two more weeks before removing group members in RI status. Two weeks from March 4th is March 18th. Pretty straightforward.

There was also no link provided. If you visited the Beta website looking for Mark's reply you'd have to look back almost fifty messages.

Giving them a link to the actual information prevents any misunderstandings based on someone's interpretation.? A misinterpreted statement can lead to further misunderstanding.

Re: When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?

I find on this group, GMF, there is a tendency at times to avoid answering questions directly. People ask a question and instead of an answer, they're told where to look to find one. In this instance, why not just answer, 'Two more weeks aprox. March 18th,' Then add that Mark Fletcher addressed this question on Beta recently. That seems pretty simple.

Give them a source to find more information, okay, but why not answer their question?

Beta, like GMF, has public archives, so Andy's link is available for all to read.

Re: When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?

I had asked the same question on Beta. In case Paul is not a Beta member -- or anyone else -- Mark Fletcher answered that as of Monday (March 4th) people in RI status were still reverifying. Due to that fact Mark stated (on Beta) that he'd give it another two weeks before removal. That will move the deadline to about March 18th.

For the first point there; yes. "Reply to Sender" sends the message to whoever posted the message you're replying to using their email address. "Reply to Group" uses the email address for the group itself.

On the second point, the icon, I think you need the "Cover photo" setting (Admin->Settings->Cover photo". You set the cover phot that you see on the web home page and the icon that's displayed on mobile devices.

That one is easy, as it shows on the invitation page, if you specify the invitation address as:

John Doe <jd@...>

Then the invitation email will start "Dear John Doe,"

Like Duane, I'm not at all clear what you are asking in your other two questions.

How to have replies go to Sender and not the whole group?

Hi,
I¡¯m ironing out the kinks from my first group invite. ? Only 10 responded out of 34 e-mails. I¡¯ll send out a new invite.

questions:
-How do I write the invite e-mail so a name will be included?
-Is "Reply to Sender" at the bottom the only way a recipient can respond privately?
-How can I create the "icon" I want at the beginning of the group address? For that matter, how can one edit that with their own address?

Thanks,

For online, open the manual as a single page, then use Ctrl-F to open a search box.? If you download the PDF, you can also use Ctrl-F.

Thank you!

Indeed it is in the manual. I usually search using Google with a search string, "groups.io [keywords]" since the manual has no search function, but I missed this one.

This is the right place!

When I sent the invites to them, I noticed that only one invite was sent. I checked the member list, and neither of them is there. What might cause this???
Did you look in Admin, Invite, Sent invitations?
Did you look at Admin, Activity?

Did you use the Invite procedure??
/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/inviting-people-to-join-a-group

If you did, did you tweak the invitation notice? You can personalize it by using formatting.

New to this manager group but not Groups.io: inviting members

I moderate two Group.io instances.

I invited two members today and have before. I don't think they understand there are two Groups.io instances they need to join. When I sent the invites to them, I noticed that only one invite was sent. I checked the member list, and neither of them is there. What might cause this??

Note that I'm asking here before moving on to Groups.io support email. Redirect me if this isn't the right location.?

Thanks a lot.
