Click on your account icon (upper right of the blue Groups.io ribbon) then Settings and Bounces, it should list the reasons for getting bounced, see what those are, I'm also curious as Gmail doesn't bounce often.

Re: My account keeps on bouncing

As a volunteer moderator of this peer-to-peer help group, I tried to look at your account. However a surprise to me - you are using Gmail and that doesn't often bounce. And no activity except joining and this message.

Have you got two accounts now? You just joined GMF earlier this evening.

My account keeps on bouncing.

I received an email about a month ago, with a link to unbounce my account.

But it keeps reoccurring.

I have reused this link several times and got the emails posted.

I would like a proper fix though !

Advice appreciated.

Re: Files upload notification

Thanks for your explanation Andy. I am sure it is working as designed. Previously I did not receive a notice when I uploaded a file but I was not aware of the email delivery history option for individual members. All is OK. Thanks.

Correct. For me it is a distinction without a difference.

but personally, since GIO is an email-based ecosystem primarily, even if I have the copy of what I sent I also I want to get a copy of what GIO sent out and others got, I've caught different types of (both admin and regular member and both test and production) errors or problems that way which I would have more than likely missed otherwise. Think of it as "post-release QA", the Sent folder copy is the book manuscript you supplied to the publisher, and the Inbox folder copy the published book of yours.

For the few cases where I think this may be an issue, I can always visit the website to see the outbound version. Getting a copy of every single email I send is, IMO, overkill for this.

Glenn

I've added it as an attachment instead of inline, perhaps that will help.

It does help as and attachments in cases like this are preferred as it gives us the image at 100% right there in local/online message view without having to save it first or copy & paste and view outside the email client or online view.? When an image is inserted inline GIO will resize it to display only 640x480. (IIRC)

My question would be why wouldn't you want a copy of your own posts?

Because I already have one, in my sent box, as others described earlier.

Technically this is not 100% accurate.? What you do have is a copy of what you sent to the group or how it looks to you, but not a copy of what GIO sent out on your behalf and others received and how it looks to them, and as such it may not be exactly the same and I'm not referring to just the added footers, group tag, etc. Case in point your initial Tbird filter post, it looks fine in your Sent folder but that's not 100% the same as GIO sent it out and viewed by members in their email client or online.

Now I guess most people don't mind this subtle distinction and that's fine, but personally, since GIO is an email-based ecosystem primarily, even if I have the copy of what I sent I also I want to get a copy of what GIO sent out and others got, I've caught different types of (both admin and regular member and both test and production) errors or problems that way which I would have more than likely missed otherwise. Not that I would want to stop receiving copies of my own posts anyway so its not a problem to me

I'm not sure that you can.

Previously, GMail users could sometimes avoid getting copies of their own messages by?UNchecking the box found at the bottom their account Preferences page:??/account?page=prefs? ?With the From line now being rewritten due to DMARC, I doubt it matters anymore.

Re: sent mail coming back

My guess would be the change - see??- on 5 March to rewrite date headers on passage through groups.io

Historically, and without evasive action, gmail does not show your own messages because it think you already have a copy in your mail database (in the Sent box). The date change may break this behaviour so that gmail shows its arrival.

Malcolm, maybe barking up the wrong tree.

The pattern seems to be groups that I am an admin of. It does not happen, for example, with this group.

If this is intentional, is there a way to turn it off?

If he is a real person that you are sure you want in the group, you might suggest that he obtain another email address to subscribe to the group.

I'm not sure I fully understand your issue here.? When I, as an Owner, upload a file and check the Notify box, then other Moderators receive a Moderator Notification to say that I have done that. I don't receive a Moderator Notification myself as it was my action. The 'From' display name for this notification is 'Group Notification' and there can be a delay of several minutes for this notification to arrive due to the effects of the notification combiner.

Uploading a file and checking the Notify box will generate a message in your group archive with a #file-notice hashtag and this will be emailed to your members (assuming you haven't set the No Email property on the hashtag) based upon their subscription settings.? This also shows the 'From' display name as 'Group Notification'.? You can see if the message has been sent to an individual member by checking their Email Delivery History via their membership record.

Uploading a file and not checking the notify box still results in Moderator Notifications being sent (as described above) but does not create a message in the archive with a #file-notice hashtag.

All Moderator Notifications and #file-notice messages to members contain a link to the file that was uploaded.

This is all working as it should as far as I can see. If you have information that suggests otherwise, please report back here.

Regards
Andy

What Chris said, something in this doesn't quite compute.?

Based on what you said,

but when I tried to open the daily digest, what would come up was only the landing page of my group and on that page it said I needed to "sign up" be participate in the group. So I did, and that's when I started receiving two notifications of the daily digest, posted to my email account at exactly the same time.

when one clicks on a message link (at least like the View/Reply Online footer link) to a (non-public message archive) group but they are not logged-in locally with their browser, they get the login page in the browser, not a sign-up page so I'm not quite sure what you mean by sign up, what was the exact page you saw or what did it contain?? If it was your group home page there should had been two buttons in the page, Join this group or Login if you're already a member.? Did you click on one of them? I know in this case that if one clicks on the Join this group button and tries to join and use the same email address they'll get a That email address is already a member error, so we're missing some key piece of info, please give us more detailed info on what exactly transpired. Did the email address autofill by any chance?

One possibility, it could be you actually used an alias email address of your main one when you did it on the phone, that could explain the duplicity as the alias would auto-forward/place emails sent to it to the main account's inbox.

Do this to make sure this didn't happen:

1. In the desktop, open a web browser and go to .? You should be already logged-in so click on your Account (upper-right of the blue nav bar) and note the email address shown. (While at it, might as well check to see if there are any groups.io email address aliases defined, there could be a possibility there's a bug somewhere so check this just in case.)

2. Repeat the same in the phone, do both addresses shown match?? Any aliases defined?

Christos
