Re: Is anyone else experiencing issues with deliveries to Hotmail/Outlook

Lisa, looking through the "Most Recent Unsuccessful Attempts" logs of several members I'm seeing the following under a couple of hotmail users.

hotmail-com.olc.protection.outlook.com: 451 4.7.651 The mail server [45.79.224.9] has been temporarily rate limited due to IP reputation. For e-mail delivery information, see https://postmaster.live.com (S3114) [AMS1EPF00000045.eurprd04.prod.outlook.com 2024-03-13T23:08:01.183Z 08DC3F84FC12B35B]?

Is anyone else experiencing issues with deliveries to Hotmail/Outlook

Our gmail users are receiving emails, but hotmail/outlook (microsoft) members are not.

Re: Strange E-Maiil from Groups.io?

Simply reply. You¡¯re telling the bot that you email is real & works.
The very same method is used for allowing new users and verification of first posts.

It has absolutely nothing to do with when you last logged in or how active you are.? In addition to Duane's link, see the Reverification FAQ for background info.

Action Required: Confirm Your Groups.io Membership to Continue Receiving Group Emails

Dear Joe WB9SBD,

Your account associated with nss@... has been a member of one or more Groups.io email groups since Fri Sep 9 2016. As part of our commitment to maintain a valuable and spam-free experience, we're updating our subscription records. To ensure you still wish to receive emails from your subscribed groups, we kindly ask for your confirmation.

You have two simple options to confirm your subscription:

1. Without adding any text, just send a reply to this email. This will be seen by the software at groups.io as a wish to stay in your groups.
2. Or you can log into your Groups.io account and your active login will count as confirmation.

If we don't hear from you, we will send a reminder email every 4 days to ensure you have every opportunity to remain subscribed.

Without confirmation by Tue Mar 26 2024, we will take it as an indication that you prefer not to continue your subscriptions. Consequently, your email will be removed from the groups you are a member of.

Timothy,

To minimize this don't even bother asking these posters to stop. Just keep them Moderated and then delete their posts without further comment. And since they are moderated the rest of the membership won't see their posts. That will make them give up eventually, especially if they get no feedback of any sort.

And when they sign up using a new email address if your group(s) is/are set up for all new members to be moderated (for up to four initial posts) you will be able to catch and delete any inappropriate posts from them.

Also there is also the option of setting a member to 'no posts allowed' which could be useful, too.

OK ¡ª HTH

Verification of a Moderator who signed in today and approved messages today

So I get it. Purge those who are not viewing or responding to messages.

Today, March 12, 2024, I signed into Groups.IO to approve some messages from one of my 50 groups. Yes, 50 groups. That was about 9:00AM. At 5:18 today, March 12, 2024 I receive an email you need to verify yourself or face deletion. Really! I've been on many groups since 1996. They save me the time of filing my inbox with 600-800 daily.

Why did the software chose a moderator who signed in less than 8 hours to Groups.IO? Seems some fine tuning of the software is necessary.

Yes, I responded and received the Your Groups.io Membership Has Been Reverified at 5:33PM March 12, 2024.?

Re: block a sender across multiple groups?

Bruce,

In regards to your post - this sound like the route i need to take to get this guy who is posting to group after group - about electric bikes he's selling -?
garyppnk@...? - there have been a couple different subject lines but basically the same product.

I've been rejecting them asking them to stop spamming but that hasn't seemed to work as another flurry hit this morning on different groups.

Thanks,?

Re: block a sender across multiple groups?

As far as I'm concerned, both of my groups have two settings checked:

So restricted membership is a key, then the second is? that you or a moderator moderates or bans the troublesome email address (user). But a key item IMHO is that the new members are moderated. As we? all know email addresses are a dime a dozen. You're looking at the message that the member posts prior to? allowing the spam post.

The number of moderated posts might have to increase if the user learns that only the 1st message is moderated.

Good Luck!

The original author was asking for a non-manual way of doing that.

What I would very much not want to see is admins having the ability to ban people from groups they do not administer.

No one could ban anyone in a group where they aren't an admin of some sort, and
it's not the sort of thing we'll see here in the future, so you can rest easy.
That would really be way beyond what any admin could do. They could ban a person
in every group where they are an admin in, as I have in my groups, but that's
not what you're seeming to be concerned about.

Donald

I was responding in the context of a proposed feature, you seem to be discussing what is currently the case.

Best,

However, I do keep in touch with a couple of related groups and when we have a
problem with a member, we sometimes discuss it so they can watch out for that
person doing something bad in their group if that person is also a member of
their group. It allows them to put that person on moderation to keep an eye on
them.

Re: delay in receiving special notices?

Hi all,

Mark is working on it. It is Spamhaus again. Not all mail servers are affected.

I am getting pending messages for moderating for GMF. But I am not getting the messages in my email once approved. I am getting them just fine from other Groups.io (but much smaller) groups.

BTW, it isn't just "special notices".?
