Re: When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?
I find on this group, GMF, there is a tendency at times to avoid answering questions directly. People ask a question and instead of an answer, they're told where to look to find one. In this instance, why not just answer, 'Two more weeks aprox. March 18th,' Then add that Mark Fletcher addressed this question on Beta recently. That seems pretty simple.
Give them a source to find more information, okay, but why not answer their question? tommy meehan |

Re: When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?
I had asked the same question on Beta. In case Paul is not a Beta member -- or anyone else -- Mark Fletcher answered that as of Monday (March 4th) people in RI status were still reverifying. Due to that fact Mark stated (on Beta) that he'd give it another two weeks before removal. That will move the deadline to about March 18th.

When does the 'purge' begain for RI bannered members?
Gentle GMF Moderators,
Any update on this? I haven't seen any more of the RI members on my group going RS in the last three weeks. So has Mark F. said anything to update his intentions for when they will be removed? Or at this point can we maybe now assist by removing these RIs ourselves? Just wondering. Paul M. Owner - CostaRicaLiving ¡ª https: //groups.io/g/CostaRicaLiving == |

For the first point there; yes. "Reply to Sender" sends the message to whoever posted the message you're replying to using their email address. "Reply to Group" uses the email address for the group itself. On the second point, the icon, I think you need the "Cover photo" setting (Admin->Settings->Cover photo". You set the cover phot that you see on the web home page and the icon that's displayed on mobile devices. Regards, Derek |

How to have replies go to Sender and not the whole group?
Hi, I¡¯m ironing out the kinks from my first group invite. ? Only 10 responded out of 34 e-mails. I¡¯ll send out a new invite. questions: -How do I write the invite e-mail so a name will be included? -Is "Reply to Sender" at the bottom the only way a recipient can respond privately? -How can I create the "icon" I want at the beginning of the group address? For that matter, how can one edit that with their own address? Thanks, Margot Shaw - |

New to this manager group but not Groups.io: inviting members
I moderate two Group.io instances.
I invited two members today and have before. I don't think they understand there are two Groups.io instances they need to join. When I sent the invites to them, I noticed that only one invite was sent. I checked the member list, and neither of them is there. What might cause this?? Note that I'm asking here before moving on to Groups.io support email. Redirect me if this isn't the right location.? Thanks a lot. Regina |

Both Windows 11 and Adobe now recognize and process HEIC/HEIF files. The reason for adoption is that it's small, fast and accurate.? FireFox doesn't understand it, so if you use a URL to access HEIC/HEIF files, FF will ask you where to save it.? Also, while Adobe understands how to READ such files, it either won't or can't save in that format.? My wife's been an iPhone use for many years, but only when she got an iPhone 11s did her pictures begin to be stored as HEIC/HEIF. Re size, I have a JPG file that's about 9MB, while the image it was converted from is only 3MB.? To my eye they look identical.? Also, while JPG is a lossy format, that isn't true for HEIC/HEIF files. FireFox, Adobe and Windows 11 also understand the relatively new format used in WEBP files.? That's more protection than anything else, but now that Adobe can read and write them, that's mostly irrelevant. Metta, Ivan On Mon, Mar 4, 2024 at 3:10?PM Larry Finch <Finches@...> wrote:

That is NOT correct; MAC (Apple) did not come up with it. HEIC is a standard published in 2013 by MPEG, the same organization that created JPEG and MPEG formats. It is an encoding that provides higher resolution photos and videos than JPEG/MPEG but still take up less space than JPEG/MPEG. While Apple was the first to?adopt it in 2017, Google followed shortly after, and it is supported on Android phones, Windows 11 (Windows 10 with an update), and virtually all photo management and editing apps released in the past 5 years or so. Website developers are the odd ones out in not supporting HEIF (the umbrella standard for HEIC). Best, Larry Larry Finch N 40¡ã 53' 50" W 74¡ã 02' 55" |
I find it discouraging that 11 years after the HEIF/HEIC format standard was published, and 7 years after Apple was the first to adopt it, that many websites still aren't capable?of rendering it. All newer photo management and editing apps support it, including Windows 11, so there's no excuse anymore.
