reason for bouncing

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Yesterday I received an email saying I was bouncing? and my entire groups.io groups have had emails suspended.
I immediately clicked on the link to unbounce me and it is fine now.
However, I'm wondering if you can tell me WHO is bouncing me, from this message in the notification... and why.

mx-10.au-east.atmailcloud.com: 550 Rejected - Content Policy

I need to know if it is a problem with my ISP so I can talk to them.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Does emailing "<groupname>+owner@<groupname>.groups.io" work?

They're a bit different if you have subgroups (groupname before and after @) or not (groupname only before @).

Re: Does emailing "<groupname>+owner@<groupname>.groups.io" work?

Thanks for the reply, Frances. It looks like my first test email was delayed. I saw it in Activity, but it didn't arrive until after I sent the email to this?GMF group. A second test, about 10 minutes ago, arrived immediately. So who knows?

One thing I did notice - After your email I took a second look at the User Manual and saw something I didn't notice earlier. The owners email address listed there is <groupname>+[email protected], without the "<groupname>" after the '@'. Both addresses work and each email I received had the "From" address as the full <groupname+owner@<groupname>,.

Anyway, thanks again.

Check in Admin, Activity.
And in your subscription, did you tick All Email in Owner Email. And save it?

Did you read?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/sending-and-receiving-group-owner-email-messages?single=true

Does emailing "<groupname>+owner@<groupname>.groups.io" work?

While going?through some various admin duties on the group that I own, I ran across a Members setting - "Owners Email" - that directs how that member should receive emails sent to "<groupname>+owner@<groupname>.". "<groupname>" is replaced with the actual name of the group I own, and am testing out. The selections are "All emails", Members emails", and "None". So I set out to test it.

First, I set myself to "All emails". Then I sent an email to that <groupname>+owners email address from a separate account, with a different email service than the one I use for Groups.io, but nothing came to me from Groups.io.

Am I missing something? Or is this a feature that doesn't work?

Thanks.

lol.? My wife refers to moderating her groups as "herding cats".

I agree that "Reply All" is bad, but on the Yahoo Android App, that is the only "reply" button in view.? One has to dig a level to find a simple "Reply".? ?Having said that, the groups.io server sent out that address, so it should be able to at least determine that the email is not actually seeking a groupname as a recipient.? Seems that a more elegant solution could be had with a little better server side error management.

Groups.io doesn't forward emails in this situation, it's the email app/program that controls additional addresses.? I really don't understand why you'd use Reply All because the member that posted will see the reply as a message to the group, so no need to copy them as well.? That confuses many people as well because then there are 2 versions/threads of the same thing and they don't realize one of them isn't being posted.

Re: Thread Reply: @ sign being replaced by an = sign

If someone uses "Reply All" on their Yahoo account(either app or web), it attempts to send(correctly) to the group, but then also to the funny <username@...>.? This is a problem for my unsophisticated users.

In testing the Yahoo Mail App on Android, I found that it doesn't even present the normal Reply icon without digging a little.? Gmail seems to only send to the group when Reply All is used.??

Here is the error I received when testing Yahoo, which looks like an error kicked back by Groups.io...

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

<username@...>:
510: The group 'username=yahoo.com' does not exist

How exactly is this DMARC standard supposed to work?? Shouldn't? Groups.io be translating that? "on behalf of address" back so as to know where to send it rather than just checking for a groupname?

That's an account setting for each person, so nothing you can do for a group.? I'm not sure if there's any control on an Enterprise group, but that's $$$$.

Re: Font on my laptop is tiny all of a sudden???

Thanks to Christos for the tip about zoom controls.? I immediately added it to my FireFox, and discovered that my gmail tab was at 110%, even though I have *disabled* the control-plus & -minus in my browser.? I checked some other tabs, and those were all at exactly 100%.
?
My tab was also at 100% exactly.? However, in the past, I have seen both my gmail and GIO tabs at what appears to be a larger font size--again, despite disabling the zoom functions (or so I had thought).? I chalked it up to FireFox/gmail doing whatever they please--but now I have actual evidence that I'm not nuts.
?
I commend this solution to the OP.

It's easy then to visually see right away if you're off from the 100% default, and/or zoom in or out using the mouse, besides the keyboard shortcuts.

Chrome also used to be customizable like FF in the toolbar regard but for some reason Google removed some of the customization features so not sure how one can do it in Chrome so the zoom controls will be shown in the toolbar.? Otherwise, in Chrome (& MS Edge), you can click on the menu (3 dots) and the Zoom controls will be under there, same in Opera except there click the O-menu and the zoom controls will be under there.

Not as far as I know.

There are may be browser extensions out there that may remove or deactivate those on any page, or possibly some browser setting itself, not sure.
