If you delete a photo, you don't receive a notice of photo deletion. If you change a wiki page, you don't receive a notice that the page was updated. In principle, you should not receive any notifications on things you do yourself, because...well, you did it, so you should already know.

With that concept in mind, removing the new subscriber notification for someone you just approved is a bugfix.

Re: New subscriber notifications not being received

Thanks for that Duane

I can see now why I hadn't noticed it was missing, as I have two accounts for one group, one primary the other to test, check the digest etc and am receiving the New Subscriber notifications on that account but not the primary

Not sure I understand why they were stopped? yes I approve a new subscriber but why stop the notification that they are subscribed?

But never mind I am sure Mark has better things to do, I suppose I will have to subscribe the second account to all the groups I have to receive the notification of new subscriber

New subscriber notifications not being received

Has anyone noticed they are not receiving new subscriber notifications?

I am receiving the Subscription Approval Needed notifications (by email) but when I approve the application I am not receiving the New Subscriber Notification which I used to

Not sure if any others are not being received as yet

Has there been any change in notifications being sent?

Thanks everyone it probably is the login cookies I haven't no only updated my Google Chrome but it might have happened and I have rebooted my system a couple of times on the phone when I get a chance I'll look at it right now I have to put up with it because I've been horizontal for the last 2 months and just kind of a user of systems rather than a mover and shaker again thank you

Bob -- I'm inclined to agree with Andy that the login cookie is being deleted between sessions.?

See??for instructions from Google with respect to how to change your cookie settings.

It's actually quite common for browser cookie settings to have a different default on a handheld device (phone or tablet). This keeps other people from gaining access to your accounts if you should lose it...with the understanding that desktop computers aren't so prone to being misplaced.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

Bob, so you have no problem on your laptop. You do have a problem when you use your android phone.

The help says:
?
The login cookie expires in 30 days, but each visit to a group website extends the 30-day timeout period.
If you delete your browser cookies (or your security software deletes them), you will be logged out.
If your browser is set to delete cookies on exit, you will be logged out.
If your browser is set to Private Browsing, you must log in again.
?
Could you describe what happens when you use your phone? Ignore your laptop since you said it works fine there.
You also said that you are using standard Chrome on your phone.

Do you have it the way you want now, or were you thinking of changing it back?
It sounded like you made a mistake when you changed the name. If it's the way

First of all, here's the help page on changing your group name. By looking at that, you might see where you went wrong.
/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/renaming-groups?single=true

It may be that there is a delay before your new group name is on the server.
That help page says:

Note:?

It might take some time for the renamed group to function normally because, due to the subdomain addressing used by Groups.io, any change to the root email address has to be propagated through the DNS entries (so the new group URL resolves into an IP address). This process can take several hours.

Renaming your main group also changes the URL of any associated subgroups.

Accidentally Changed my groups.io Group name now can't access account

Michael Miehl

Good evening.

I am new to and just made a mistake that prevents me from accessing my account.

I am the group owner and paid for the $220 subscription. In an effort to make it easier for folks to send messages to our group, I changed the name. BIG MISTAKE!! Since I changed the name I'm getting a "can't find the server" error from my web browser when I try to access it as an administrator (not sure what others are experiencing who want to send messages). But of course, the that I paid for has the old name and the new one isn't recognized. Anyone have a clue how I can go back and change the group name to the one I originally registered? I can't get into my account to do this. I can see the group under "my groups" but when I click on it I get the error.?

This seems like it should have been much harder to do this - change the name of our group (after having paid for it, etc.) and therefore lock oneself out of the account. I'll keep trying to see what I can do but wanted to reach out to your group for help.

I appreciate your advice.?

Sincerely,

Mike

Well, if the invitation shows as "Sent", it was sent. If they didn't receive it, there could be a number of reasons. It could be a typo in their email address, or the message was diverted to a spam folder, or it was intercepted by their email provider, or...

Are you sure these two people aren't already in the group? They could have joined by clicking the "Join This Group" link on your Home Page. Many people refuse to click on links in emails, for fear that they'll be diverted to a phishing site.

Generally, that page will continue to show the invitation as "Sent" until the recipient responds to the invitation.

Also -- can an owner personally subscribe a person who wants to join? That seems like it would solve the problem, but I can't find any way to do so.
Paid groups can do that. See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-members/premium-and-enterprise-member-management-options?

Bruce
