Unless/until there's a huge support staff (which may never happen), things like this will likely only get done if someone voluntarily does it.? The Getting Started guide, along with the Owners Manual, covers everything, just not as detailed as some people would like.

Ya, unfortunately, popularity doesn¡¯t equal staff or $$ to be able to do that kind of extra. ?There¡¯s commonsense features that have been brought up several times that (apparently) aren't high on Mark¡¯s list to work on. ?I say apparently because there have not been reasons given why they can't (or won't) be done.

Many discussions over the years all resulting in the same explanations. One being that there is no means for GIO to properly vet a non profit given that there is no global standard definition. The second being that?GIO cannot afford to support the numerous small global non profits.?

Our 90 member NP has been using Google since 2013. It's been renamed 3 times, now called Google WorkSpace. Free to NP, you just pay for your domain which in 2013 was about $8 a year. We moved our domain admin in 2014 so don't know what the cost is now. We use it for email and for our board communication. Each user in your GW account gets an email and storage so the more users, the more shared storage. It works the same as free Google as far as sharing files. There's Google support and Google community to explain things but it may be overkill for your group and beyond your groups computer skills to set up.?

If you dont have a lot of files you could try free dropbox. Create one email account and have all your board members log in using that account to freely access files. Or one person can manage the account and offer the file to others via a shared link.

There are quite a few apps designed for collaboration. I haven't been impressed by then so far. I also deal with non compter savvy board members and either it's over their head or I meet with resistance. It's taken 3 years to get them to agree to using GIO.?

I created a worksheet in a Google Drive account that I made editable back in 2015 and shared it with the people that needed to access and edit it. Editing that has proved to be beyond the skills of many. I shared it using the option of "access only by email address". But when people didn't use the same email address as I gave Google or if they refused to use Google, then they couldn't access it.

No best way to do what you are asking. I agree $220 is way above the reach of us smaller NPs serving our communities and so frustrating to not be a ble share a couple of files without a lot of workarounds. Made more difficult because elders are the ones with time to give but that population is the least comfortable with technology.?

I don't know of any discount for premium groups for nonprofits, just the very pricey Enterprise plan.

You can take donations with Premium -?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/taking-donations-and-reviewing-payment-activity
If 20 of your group chipped in a buck a month, it would cover the cost.

Some group owners do use outside storage. It might be a bit of a workaround that might stymie some of your members.
Suggestions, folks? What could it look like?

Thanks to you both. Yes, those links were the ones I was aware of. I sent them those links a few times but it seems to have overwhelmed and confused them.?

I did find a basic member video on YT but we are past that hurdle as the club leaders have joined the group and tested it out these past 2 months. The next step is for them to learn how to add our club's 92 members, moderate/manage the main group and?become owners/mods of their respective subgroups. ?
?
The past few days I have been working on turning those online manuals and start guide into a narrated slideshow to be included in my tutorial series. Was a bit surprised there wasn't a video on YT or Vimeo, as popular as GIO has become over the past few years. I will proceed with creating the Owner/Mod/Subgroup videos myself that are tailored to our club's settings and needs.?

Thanks again.?

Looking for video on Admin overview #owner

Can anyone direct me to a video tutorial that covers a basic overview on the admin settings, features and functions for owners and mods who are not yet comfortable with the web interface?
I know about the online manuals, but the people I need to educate stumble over the manual's indepth information and terminology. They would be better helped initially by an audio-visual overview. After grasping the major concepts, I could then direct them to links in the manual for specific answers.?

Re: Blank email to join address has stopped working #membership #subgroup

Frances and Bruce,
Thanks so much for your response and I think we're in better shape now. the new applicant did indeed have anon-standard email client. We also had our Invite instruction email telling them to send a new email to a certain address to [groupname][email protected]? which I now think is inaccurate.
I found that in fact all they should do is directly reply to the invite email to get the entire address string as you mentioned.? I've re-worded our invite message to clarify the reply process and hoping this will fix it.? Thanks again!

Re: Blank email to join address has stopped working #membership #subgroup

Like Frances, I am unable to reproduce this problem. I sent my alternate email address an invitation to a subgroup. Both the subgroup and the main group are Restricted. When I replied to it, that address was duly added to both the subgroup and the main group. Neither went into Pending.

Note that the address to reply to has a long name, something like?subgroupname+invite+1234567890123456789+1234567 @ maingroupname.groups.io? ??If the recipient's mail client (or mail provider) doesn't like that for some reason, perhaps it's never being sent. It might be helpful to know what their provider is, and if you've had similar problems with others who use this provider.

Also, the invitation contains a link to the +owner address. If the person "replied" to that instead, that's not going to work, either.

Finally, please note that invitations expire after 14 days.

Hoping something in there helps.

Bruce

I just tested and it works.

Remember too that you can gussy up your invitation - add text, use formatting, etc.?

Did this ever get solved because now we're having the same problem in our restricted ATOG group. When we send an invite to join and the person replies to the email as instructed, nothing happens. However, if they read the fine print below the invite where it says "reply to this email or click accept the invitation"... if they click the hyperlink, then it works.

Put a space after the @ sign.? Alert recipient to remove it.? Good luck!

Re: Send Bounce Probe option missing

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Yes, sorry, I didn't mean that, didn't make it quite clear.? I meant code would still need to be added in the part that decides whether to enable or disable the Action button, which would check the bounce status value for all members selected and enable the SendProbe option only if all who are checked are bouncing, otherwise disable it.? And that code would have to be executed every single time a member is checked or unchecked since we're not in the Bouncing-filtered list.

Cheers,
Christos

Not really; if a member is bouncing then it is flagged as such in the full unfiltered list.

They're only available to members when logged in, so maybe that's it.? Non-members will never see them, even if the group archives are set to public.

However, just as an experiment I clicked the checkbox of a bouncing member from the unfiltered list and then found that Send Bounce Probe was not available as an Action.

I can see where having it in that scenario could be convenient (for sending the probe to more than one member) as one wouldn't have to filter the list, but I guess it's not enabled/available there because it would require extra coding to check the status of each member selected.? He does however check the individual member's status when one clicks on a member, in any filter or no-filter setting, so when the member record screen comes up, if that member is bouncing the send probe button is also available, so one can still send a problem in that case albeit it's one at a time.

Hi there, I have the settings adjusted to SHOW email address in the web archive, and yet they still aren't visible in the web archive.? Is this a bug in the software?? Or am I doing something wrong?
