Regardless of the reason your member is asking the question, I'd simply answer it by saying "Yes - groups.io isn't an NNTP-based service," followed by your standard instructions to join. Pete

As far as I know, there is no way to sign up WITH an NNTP server. These are email mailing lists, not Usenet newsgroups. It may be possible to gate them from mail to news and vice versa (a GoogleGroups
