The answer is the same as it was 3 years ago when you asked.? There's more info in the message archives of this group. /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/32959678, and also on Group_Help.

Is there a way to delete old mail of years gone by

David -- Well, it actually does. All affected groups are listed in the body of the message.

An example bounce probe can be found in the Files area here?/g/GroupManagersForum/files/Bounce%20probe%20example.pdf?

The subject line looks remarkably like a junk mail message, just one of the dozens people receive every day. They delete it without reading any more than the subject line. Even when you warn them in advance it is coming, they still do not recognise it.
Bouncing is an account status, not a subscription status. If messages cannot be delivered, it affects every group that account/email address may be subscribed to.

I'm interested in how groups.io is to know which group it needs to put in the subject line. Perhaps it should send a bounce probe for every group they're subscribed to? In my own case that would be 16 separate bounce probes.

If you have a suggestion on how to remedy this, we can "bounce" some ideas around here. :-)? But ultimately, it will have to be posted to .

Notification of people bouncing? #bouncedemails

I have just become aware that five members of my group had been set to bouncing several weeks ago. They were all with the same Internet provider whose e-mail system had a fit and bounced all incoming mail for several hours. My group must have sent them a message during that time.

They did not know they had been set to bouncing, so missed out on several weeks of messages.

Is there any way to get groups.io to e-mail the admin when things like this happen so that action can be taken immediately to resolve the issue?

(I know groups.io sends them a message allowing them to reactivate their account. However, as one of the people said to me, they gets lots of spam and must have just assumed it was spam after reading the subject line. Not helpful!)

Re: how long it takes to UNBOUNCE ?

Having just gone through this bouncing issue for the first time, I could suggest the reason people do not respond.

In this case, my club uses groups.io to handle a mailing list. No-one actually logs in to groups.io - they just receive e-mails with the name of the club in the Subject line. They have no idea that groups.io is behind this.

The bounce probe does not mention the name of the group. The subject line looks remarkably like a junk mail message, just one of the dozens people receive every day. They delete it without reading any more than the subject line. Even when you warn them in advance it is coming, they still do not recognise it.

I am at the point of removing them from the group then inviting them again, because at least then the name of the group appears in the subject line so they will recognise it.

How do you get to see these screens? I have a bunch of users who were set to bouncing but cannot find out why.

Re: how long it takes to UNBOUNCE ?

That reason seems unlikely. There could be accounts that have not been bounced but the owner is dead. They would continue to receive e-mails forever.

"File Upload" not working

I upload files daily, but tonight the program is unresponsive when I click on Browse to select the file to upload. ?Any ideas why???

I was charitably thinking that perhaps the person made a typo or a "think-o" and wrote the wrong something-something-TP in the request.

Re: NNTP Server

Anybody who even is aware of NNTP ought to be aware of SMTP.? Still a very curious question.? Perhaps they imagine groups.io is a service akin to a Usenet grouping, thus could be a moderated newsgroup area.? Not exactly a bad idea, except all newsgroup content is visible to the public.? There are private newsgroups that are not in any typical NNTP feed.? Quite ancient by today's standards but you can operate a private server and employ NNTP standards without joining the feed.??

Regardless of the reason your member is asking the question, I'd simply answer it by saying "Yes - groups.io isn't an NNTP-based service," followed by your standard instructions to join.

OK, good joke... But I, p.e., still

Custom domain & other enterprise features #askmembers

Hi everyone,

We are trying to move a large a number of emailing lists to Groups.io, and wanted to ask you:
  • For the custom domain, what is the usual time needed for Groups.io to do the switch, once we change the Name Servers? Is this a few hours or a few days?
  • Changing logo + homepage - Again, what is the usual time this takes, once we email all the files to support?

I've emailed support, but so far we have not received an answer, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Also, are there any other channels that we can use to reach support?

Thank you all!

As far as I know, there is no way to sign up WITH an NNTP server.

These are email mailing lists, not Usenet newsgroups.

It may be possible to gate them from mail to news and vice versa (a
GoogleGroups does), but I don't know of anyone who does so.

The only ways to sign up are with email, with an e-mail reader, or with a web
browser by going to the web site.
