Maybe hashtags would be a better solution than subgroups. Tag messages with #W6 or #W4C.

Details are here:?/static/help
The pricing page is also a useful overview:?/static/pricing

Is there a point by point explanation of these settings somewhere?

Message Formatting

Message formatting includes:

Force HTML Emails
Make all emails HTML and remove the plain text digest option.

Normalize HTML Emails
Strip all different fonts and colors from HTML emails.

Plain Text Only
Strip out HTML messages

Force HTML is definitely not what I want but am not sure what ¡°normalizing¡± means. Does it strip formatting and leave plain text?

Does ¡°strip out HTML messages¡± mean the messages aren¡¯t delivered? Or is the html converted to plain text meaning paragraphs of gibberish?

What I want is plain text emails but I don¡¯t want messages sent as html to be made weird or rejected.

I¡¯m setting up about 15 subgroups so all these settings are a lot of work. I don¡¯t want to have to go back and change them.

Email Integration Question / Problem

Bill N4iQ

Hi - I have set up an e-mail integration in my group.? I understand that the receive only integration e-mail address will post e-mails from any valid e-mail address.?? I tried using my personal e-mail address to send test posts to the new integration e-mail address.?? I keep getting error messages.? Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?? Here is the rejection message (I altered the e-mail address with xxxxx for this posting):????? (Thanks Bill)

Your message was rejected by lb01.groups.io for the following reason:

5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist. That group does not exist.

The following recipients did not receive this message:

     <[email protected]>

Please reply to <Postmaster@...>
if you feel this message to be in error.

For a message that is sent when a member joins, you probably want to use the Welcome notice.

customizing message after a member joins

How do I customize the message that gets sent back to a member once they've subscribed to our group? ?I'd like to have our guidelines sent automatically but can't figure out how to do that. ?Thanks, as always, for the help!

Re: reply to sender

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello Shal,
In the footer of every group.io email is ¡°reply to sender¡±.
When I use that, the resultant email does not include the previous message.
I can¡¯t seem to find anywhere in the settings to make that happen.
At first I thought it was my mail client but I do have it set to include message, so it is something in groups.io.
Do you know how to change it?
Thanks.. and I appreciate all your help in these early teething problems.
Win

He has to do it for himself.

Via his Account page. He'll have to log in to Groups.io, then click on
his name in the upper right and select Account. The first thing on that
page is a box where he can change his email address.

Re: Member not bouncing but not receiving mail

Richard,

I am curious as to why it is showing that the failure message is
coming from Yahoo.
Because under the hood Yahoo Mail is providing email service to att.net (and SBCGlobal) customers.

Or were. I thought in reaction to the purchase of Yahoo by Verizon that AT&T had decided to pull its users off of Yahoo Mail and substitute their own service. Or maybe not yet. Or maybe I misunderstood.

Is ATT/SBC blocking io Groups?
Probably not. There are a half-dozen GMF members with att.net email addresses who are not bouncing.

In this case it is as Duane mentioned. When the member tried to post to Groups.io, his message outbound from att.net, by way of Yahoo Mail, was rejected by Groups.io. Yahoo Mail reported that fact back to the member.

How that member's email address came to be bouncing is something you could investigate through his row in your group's Members table. Click anywhere on the row except the checkbox, and on the page that opens look at his Email Delivery History tab. That should say something relevant to why his address has bouncing (blue B) or bounced (red B) status.

It's a restricted group. ?I receive a message from groups.io "Subscription Approval Needed" with the person's email address. ?I click on View Pending Member to see if there is a name. ?I check the National Member list to see if I can find the person by the email address. ?If they are on that list, I click on Reply. ?If I can't find them, I don't do anything. ?In either case I receive a message "New Subscriber To [email protected]"?with the email address and the name and/or email address is on the groups.io member list.

? ?

? ? What am I doing incorrectly? ?Why is the name/email address on the member list?

? ?

The message is being bounced by groups.io because they haven't unbounced their account, so the email daemon on their Yahoo account sends them this notice.? Once they visit the web site, as shown, and unbounce their account, all should work until the next time.

We just moved from YahooGroups and have about 350 members that have subscribed over the last week as we transitioned. Of that now we have about 8 or 9 members bouncing, all are either SBCGlobal or ATT.Net addresses.

One of them forwarded a part to me that had this in it:

From: MAILER-DAEMON@...
Subject: Failure Notice
Date: February 4, 2018 at 5:57:09 PM CST
To: xxxxxxx@...

Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

Re: Groups.io Digests and Thunderbird

I also use Thunderbird, kept updated, but have not had this occur. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the digest delivery, as I receive individual emails. Perhaps take it up with Mozilla.

Another approach would be to assume that there isn't such an ability, and post it as a suggestion in beta. You never know, that might prompt a work-around from someone else.

I can see where Groups.io might not want to make such an ability generally available, but adding it to the transfer agent's repertory might not be out of the question.

On the groups.io recruiting list it says there is an algorithm for yahoo groups transfers and one for google groups transfers, but that's all I know.
