OTOH a group might have wide - scale humanitarian aid as its ethos; in that case there is a clear (even if only potential) benefit well outside just those who are members of the group. Chris |

We don't need our own branding, for example. I am grateful to be able to have these groups to make everything work better. I was lucky - an early adopter. messages returned for attachments
I haven¡¯t been able to send to one of my groups since Wednesday, possibly Tuesday. My messages are returned because the list doesn¡¯t accept attachments. But there are no attachments on message.
I had originally replied to a messages so I opened a new messages and retyped it fresh. Same result. I tried writing in TextEdit and had the same problem when I pasted it into a message. Using MacBook Pro, OS 11.1, Apple Mail. The problem may have started when I installed the 11.1 update. Anyone else having this problem or heard of it? Mod's note: 1. This increase does not apply to existing Premium groups, only those upgraded to Premium after January 18, 2021. To lock in the current price, upgrade now.

Re: New groups.io pricing structure
The pricing issue is simple. Mark has to run a viable business model which would survive in the long run. If users feel they are getting their money's worth, then they should not complain. I run a group with many members and most of them are lurkers and only a few are actively participating. For a member to pay 5cents annually should not be a great hardship. Re: Bouncing
Two comments: the gmail outage screwed things up in subtle ways besides the gio bouncing issue. I use the gmail client but most of my email goes through non-gmail services. During the outage, the gmail client began failing to poll my non-gmail addresses. The effect was that gio appeared to have quit sending me email, although it was working fine. I was scratching my head because my gio email delivery log looked fine, but I wasn't receiving messages. After poking around, I discovered the problem and went to gmail settings to manually force gmail to read my non-gmail addresses. If members of your group are having issues, this could be one source.
I am rethinking my choice of email clients. I started using the gmail client to become familiar with it because I found myself helping a lot of people with gmail issues. Maybe it is time go back to Outlook or Thunderbird. Or something else. Second comment: Google appears to be entering rough regulatory waters and I would not be surprised if their business model changes in the next few years, but I doubt that this outage is related. Reports say that an internal automatic storage allocation system failed and some of their systems ran out of space for 40 minutes or so. Yikes! That's the kind of scenario that nightmares are made from. At Google's scale, that could cause a lot of damage, some of which might be subtle and cause instability that lasts longer than you would expect. Therefore, I would keep an eye on Google services for a while. Best, Marv |
postings missing from my screen of BREX group's account
There is at least one posting -maybe more - that another moderator in our group can see in the list of recent postings, but I do not see.
I've refreshed my screen and searched for it by name of the original poster as well as some words from the body of the posting. Bonnie Cureton is the name of the member. My co-moderator says she sees it as having been posted 12/10 and 12/16. Any clues as to what might be going on?? thanks Anita |
New groups.io pricing structure
I don¡¯t know if this is the correct group for this but I was informed by another group owner, I haven¡¯t gotten this from Mark yet.?
New premium pricing: additional 5? per member per month over 400 members? I understand there are costs involved but it is frustrating to those of us who manage large numbers of enthusiast groups, we are not in it for the money, we don¡¯t make any money from it, yet we must pay, pay, pay...
