Re: Seems Gmail is tripping now, or recently.
Ken,
I'm wondering if there is going to be a bounce storm once Yahoo pulls theI wouldn't think so. With Yahoo not sending out any group messages the number of member posts that bounce on the way in should tail off rather quickly. Granted I think the number of messages in flight today forThose will be delivered normally, I think. I doubt Yahoo would break any SMTP transactions in process, but even if they did all it means is that the message "in transit" won't be received. As if never sent. or messages in transit to somewhere that ceased to exist. Those will bounce back to sender. But in Yahoo Groups' case (as here) all the senders should be humans attempting to post messages. The rate that has been happening of late seems rather low, and while the people sending might do a few "try again" just to be sure, I think they'll quickly figure out that it doesn't work. Re: Seems Gmail is tripping now, or recently.
Bruce, Most of Google crashed for about an hour, including GMail and GDrive and YouTube, and etc. That was long before I got up this morning whereas my first bounce today was at 3:18 pm. That's not to say it isn't related, but it is clearly a new event. And according to started this afternoon and is affecting many email services, not just Groups.io. My Gmail account also. Lost messages 35556 to 35558 because at 3:18pm PST message 35556 bounced for the Reason "550 5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist."
I don't know if that's a consequence of this morning's general outage at Google, but the bounce was clearly erroneous. Shal ? -- Help: /helpcenter More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Help with emails sent not showing up I am the moderator of the group
Sara,
Assuming you mean the Activity page for the group, and not any individual member's Activity History, then the only reason I know of is that the message wasn't sent to the group's posting address. If it was, then it should be listed there.
If they went out via your group then they would be in the group's Messages list. Is it possible you're confounding two separate groups? Shal -- Help: /helpcenter More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

That's exactly why I am asking. They are NOT appearing on the Activity logs. Do you understand why?
I have checked with some recipients, and they are telling me they get them, so I know they went out. But I can't?find them.?

Re: Help with emails sent not showing up I am the moderator of the group
Sara,
I don't know what you mean by this, but you can only post from an address that is subscribed to the group. Unless the group is set to allow non-subscriber posts.
Probably, depending on what you meant by "my address as the moderator of the group", see also Frances' question about it.

Changes made after some members have joined
I did a little googling to find an answer to my question(s), but I have not
(yet) read the various manuals available for groups.io (that is on my todo list). I'm hoping that my question might be simple enough for someone to give me an answer fairly easily. Background: I started (my first) groups.io maillist a few days ago. I opened it up for people to join, and several did. Over the following day or so, I explored various options and set some of those, including the one that prevents attachments to posts. More people joined after that. Now on the list of members, members that joined after I made that change have an "A" in the Delivery column which indicates "Attachment Size Limited". The people that joined before I made that change do not have that "A". I want all the members to have the same restriction, both those that joined before and after I made the change. My questions: * Do all the members have that same restriction even though not all show the "A"? * If not, how do I make that change effective for members that joined before I made the change? * Not as important (I guess), but if all members do have the same restriction, it would be nice that they all showed the same thing in the Delivery column -- that is, either all with "A"s (preferred) or none with "A"s. * Finally, if this kind of thing (indicators showing up for members that joined after a change but not for older members), what is the general way to handle the question listed above? Thank you! Randy Kramer |
Help with emails sent not showing up I am the moderator of the group

Is there anything I need to do to track the emails I sent? The emails I send to the group do not appear on my activity list. ? Question: When I get ready to send an email, I have two options for the ¡°from¡± email address: My regular email address and my address as the moderator of the group. ? All the emails from my ¡°regular¡¯ Gmail address are there, but none the emails from the other (this is my groups io email name as a moderator of the group) ?are . ? Do I need to send emails to the group from my ¡°regular¡± Gmail only? ? I perused the settings and can¡¯t see anything there that is helpful. ? ? |
