Re: Moderator unable to change to ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY; also unable to post during Announcement Only (done by someone else now)
AS A SUMMARY: 1) This gal is definitely listed as a moderator and has done this for at least ten years.? 2) She is using the same email that is attached to her as a moderator.? 3) She CAN approve new members.? 4) But suddenly, she has no way to switch the group to ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY (though moderators can still post) for two days so the mods can get a break.? 5) When a different mod switches it for her, she can't go into a post to change something. She gets the warning that doing that is for Moderators only...YET she is a mod. lol. Any ideas?? |

I've not experienced the problem myself, but others have reported it. Open her member record, turn off this permission, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save. Repeat, except turn it back on. If she's really logged in using the correct email address, that should fix it. If that still doesn't work, the only explanation I can provide is that she might have more than one subscription to your group. Regards, Bruce? Re: Moderator unable to change to ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY; also unable to post during Announcement Only (done by someone else now)
I also want to add:? 1) I have her permissions set IDENTICALLY to the permissions of another moderator who now has to change the group the group to ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY, yet this moderator (that this post is about) can't do it anymore.? 2) And as a moderator, she can't go in and change a post when the group is in ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY without getting the message that only moderators can do that. Yet she's a moderator.? Any other ideas?? |

Re: New Follow/Unfollow/Mute/Unmute button on main topics page
Marina,
Wouldn't it be useful to have the button also on the main topics page,I agree that it would be useful to have a way to filter the Topics list (and Messages list) according to the Mute or Follow selections you've already made. But if that were done, it should be done in a way that does not look like the new buttons - which set or unset Mute or Follow for the open topic (or message). This is the concern Duane raised - it is unlikely that one would ever want to set or unset Mute or Follow on the entire Topics (or Messages) list. For what it is worth, you can get a list of only the topics you Follow, by using the Your Groups list (click on the Groups.io logo on the upper left). The downside (or upside, depending on what you want) is that it shows message from all of your group subscriptions, not just one group. /groups What you can't do there, or anywhere in the Groups.io web interface yet, is get a list of topics or messages you have NOT muted. Seems like a no-brainer, but we aren't there yet. Shal -- Help: /helpcenter More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: Moderator unable to change to ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY; also unable to post during Announcement Only (done by someone else now)
What Frances is saying is that she might have two accounts but only
one set as moderator. If she logs in with a non-moderator account that is also a member of this same group, she won't be able to so anything a moderator could do. Moderator unable to change to ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY; also unable to post during Announcement Only (done by someone else now)
For two days every week, I have always had a particular moderator change the group to ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY so they get a break...but the setting still allows mods to post or change anything.? BUT SUDDENLY, she can't do the following: 1) Find the setting that always allowed her to set the group to Announcement Only (with mods still being able to post) 2) Change a post in Announcement Only (another mod has to set that now).?When she tries to change something in a post, she gets the message that?it¡¯s "an announcement only group and only moderators can do that." Any ideas what is going on?? ? |
Re: Posting an Owner message to the group (was: Changing Owner to Administrator)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWolfram,>>> Thank you! Quite helpful, but... The first try went well, setting it to 60. It keeps the 60 when coming back. However, it seems stuck with that number. I want to change to 300, but it doesn't keep 300. When I go back to the page, it is stuck at 60. I cleared browser cache and cookies to no avail. Any suggestion on how to change it permanently to a different number? <<< What Bruce said; also, keep in mind that GIO has the ability to set (and remember) the default rows-per-page value to up to 100 rows per page (Main GIO Account Settings -> Prefs).? So you can go there and set it to 100 and it will remember that regardless, that's what I've personally done so at the very minimum I can have 5 pages worth of the default 20 rows in a single page.? But anything else above that, you'll have to manually adjust it on the URL when you go to the member admin list screen. Also, depending on what you are doing within the member list screen, sometimes you have to use the Back browser arrow (with a browser F5 / Ctrl+F5 refresh afterwards) after applying the changes otherwise it will reset it to your default. Re: New Follow/Unfollow/Mute/Unmute button on main topics page
Marina,
What Duane said, plus, if it was on the main topics screen, the developer would have had to add this as individual buttons (or options under "More") for each topic which meant more (unnecessary) work, ... so it's fine where it is, under the individual Topic and Message screens, plus be thankful it is where it is now, many of us have been asking for this enhancement for a while now! New Follow/Unfollow/Mute/Unmute button on main topics page
From Site updates:
"NEW: On the /topic and /message pages, there now is a Follow/Unfollow/Mute/Unmute button." At first, I was looking for the new button in the main topics page, then I realized that you have to open the topic to find it. Wouldn't it be useful to have the button also on the main topics page, so that you don't have to open the topics you are not interested in? Cheers, Marina |

I started a group for Yaesu FT-757 owners because there was some interest even though I don't have that model of ham radio. I got one of the members to agree to becoming a co-owner with the intent for me to unsubscribe from the group eventually. So far it has gone well and it's not a very active group, so it's easy for the other person to manage. 1. can I unsubscribe? 2. If I unsubscribe, will it destroy the group or somehow inactivate it or cause it to not function like normal? Stan |
