Yes I agree that could be the reason (wished I had thought to start a few) but no harm in asking I would have thought

If no reply or a negative one you know where you are anyway

Otherwise as suggested, slightly modify the name to suit yourself

it's not when you search for it. If the group Owner has chosen for the group to not appear in the groups.io directory, it won't show up in a search.
See /helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/privacy-settings </helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/privacy-settings> Go to /g/recipes </g/recipes>?and you'll find that it exists.

Re: Recipes Group #recipes

Simple solution is slightly modify the name. May be there is a non public list with that name.

Not sure who "they" are, but someone did. The group only has one member.

You'll have to use something else.

Set up your group as an Announcement group (Spam Control tab). You can easily switch it to something else once you get everyone invited and things settle down.?

/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/customizing-group-settings/spam-control-and-moderation-settings?

If you are unwilling to give the "small handful" of people Moderator permissions there is really no good way to do that.

Donna: try changing the word "for" in your desired email address to the number 4. That will reduce the number of characters from 35 to 33, which is under the limit.

Donna,

If you want the email name to be that long and not an acronym or something, change the email from BreastCancerSistersSoulmatesforLife to BreastCancerSistersSoulmates4Life and that will get you under the 34 char limit.

Also, like Frances said, it does takes a bit for the change to become effective; but you can check if it's done by trying to go to your homepage URL, i.e. http://groups.io/g/<whatever-name-you-use>; if the change propagated and is effective, you'll get the home page, if not, you'll get a "group doesn't exist" error..

Cheers,
Christos

There is no Premium Trial plan for existing groups, only new groups. Also, Premium Trial does not provide Direct Add capability anyway.

Follow the instructions found at?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/upgrading-or-downgrading-groups/upgrading-a-basic-group? Be sure to select the green "Upgrade ($20 for one month, w/ automatic downgrade to Basic after)" button.

Yes.

Last year when I asked this question, the answer was yes, but now I don't see any monthly option for premium.
If your new group is currently on the Premium Trial plan, you may have to downgrade first. Let us know what you find out.
