Re: How to "UnBlock" a subscriber

"un-block" is one word, not two

Blocked means you switched his/her posting-status to "override - can not post"

Banned means you removed him/her and made it impossible for them to rejoin

oops, should have been @yahoogroups.com.

if you put yahoo groups in the search box on this group, you can read all about it here.

Re: How to open Yahoo downloaded messages

Hello,

So I received my group's data from the download request.

Files open right up but messages have names like mbox.

How do I open them and see the messages?

Thank you in advance,

Lorne

Re: What to Expect

Denise,

However, I thought my $200 would include text & data transfer, rather
than the equivalent of a blank outline.
There was a series of steps to follow, it sounds like you missed one somewhere. A "blank outline" sounds like Step 1 - you had to create a Groups.io group to transfer into.

As Duane said, your only recourse now is to contact [email protected] - GMF is a user-to-user forum, there are no Groups.io employees here.

In the best case Groups.io may have managed to copy your Yahoo Group before Yahoo removed all member content, and there's merely some confusion about where they put it.

In the worst case they did not snag a copy. In which case a refund is all they can do for you.

I don't want to invite my members to join here until
there's something ready to go.
From this point it is up to you to populate the content of your Groups.io group. There is still time for you to request a download from Yahoo:

You can upload whatever you get to your Groups.io group. See the information here:
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Moving-to-Groups.io

Best of luck.

Re: This will sound bizarre. How does one sign on to YaHoo groups?

Eric, there's a GMF group on Yahoo, it's public.? Posts are all gone though.? Yahoo has deleted everything on groups, so there are no messages to see.
If you want to post to groupmanagersforum@...,?it will all be explained.? I really miss the archives for people to search to read about all this good stuff.? It's public, so maybe I can send you some links to some posts.

You could remove the privileges from these moderators so all they can do is add files and view the "moderator only" files.

This will sound bizarre. How does one sign on to YaHoo groups?

Last week-end I had basically a computer meltdown. My two Android devices stopped working with Yahoo. I now can get into YaHoo so far as to see the groups that I belong to. However, that's as far as I can get. Across the top of the screen is a photo of about 20 happy people welcoming me but the only menu item I's allowed to see is "About". All my YaHoo groups are listed down the left side of the screen when I click the top left icon.?

What do I need to get into Yahoo? I've got one last forum to install as a sub-group and I need to get the membership roll. Then I'm done, finished, on to happy days!

The bizarre thing is that I'm asking here for help because the Yahoo 24/7 help desk requires payment. Sort of a good reason we all left. I figure that there are no more experienced folk in matters of Yahoo than the folks who are here!

Another good day, I learned something new!? I should mention that whether you immediately get switched to the new tab depends on the settings in your browser.? I have mine set to open new tabs in the background, so I can use this tip for as many links as I want on one page before switching to those tabs to do anything.

I'm not sure what you did, but it wasn't a transfer.? That page has been disabled (later removed) since Dec 5.? You can contact support and they'll refund your money.

Anything you'll have on your group will be what you furnish - files, photos, etc.

Thanks so much Shal, that is working brilliantly. I'm amazed that I hadn't tried it as I do that (right click > open in new tab) all the time.

Much appreciated.

One other thing... what does the green bit at the end of the blue bar which lists the used storage signify? I can't remember noticing it before.

What I normally do with any page that has a lot of links to follow (and a list certainly qualifies) is open the list item by using

Ctrl+Shift+LeftClick instead of plain LeftClick. In most browsers this

opens the link in a new tab, and switches you to that tab. In Firefox this can also be done with RightClick over the link then select "Open Link in New Tab".

Do what you need to do in the new tab, then close the tab. In Firefox this automatically drops me back into the tab I came from - the list page.

OK, have patiently waited over a week to see if the transfer "took" - invitation was accepted & changed to moderator status JUST before the deadline.? However, I thought my $200 would include text & data transfer, rather than the equivalent of a blank outline.? It's HSCI.io.com - I don't want to invite my members to join here until there's something ready to go.

Thanks in advance,

Re: How To? Typo in group email address

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Deb,

I followed the steps outlined to correct the typo in the email address. ?It did not work as I expected. ?I ended up with two groups. The original group and a second with the same name, but different membership. I was not an owner on the second group, or even a member.

I'm having a hard time visualizing what you mean. Casually speaking a group's name is its email address (and its web address), which you set on the group's Settings page:
Screenshot of
Group Email Address on Settings Page
There can't be two groups with the same Email Address (name). Two groups can have the same Title, so maybe that's what you mean?

The other thing I'm having trouble with is where you're seeing both groups. If you're not even a member of that second group, where are you seeing it?
If you're seeing it in the "Find or Create a Group" list don't worry about it - it likely belongs to someone else. Instead, use the Your Groups drop-list to the left of the Find link. Your Groups will only show you groups of which you are at least a member.

I started to delete the original group to begin fresh but I got a warning that the name would be unavailable for a while. No explanation of how long ¡°a while¡± might be. Any thoughts on what I might be doing incorrectly, or how long the name would be unavailable to start fresh? ?

I would not delete the group just to begin fresh. The email address of a deleted group is reserved indefinitely. As a practical matter you have to ask support to release it for you. In most cases it is much simpler to correct the Settings page.

Re: Transferring A Group

There were groups trying to archive everything?on - they may have done some work on your group.

See??and maybe there's something there.

Also, maybe some of your group members saved material. Try emailing them - that part of Yahoo still works, kind of.

Re: Transferring A Group

Neil,

?
The download from Yahoo is only your own personal messages and uploads - they won't give access to all the group files now.
?
I'll agree about the Files and Photos being very spotty, but the zipped collection of mbox files contains all the messages in the group, not just what you posted. At least that's been true of all the groups I've looked at.
?
For Files, Photos_and_attachments, Links and (rarely) Database, my results are all over the place. I don't think I got all the photos in any group, but I did get all Files in some, all Links in some, and what may be all Databases in just one. No Membership list or Calendar entries.
?
Cindy: moral of the story: you're better off doing the request than not doing it, as it is the only remaining way of downloading any content. If you can get some of your more prolific group members to do likewise you might be able to fill in each other's gaps.Deadline for making the request: Jan 31st 11:59 pm Pacific (2020-02-01 07:59 UTC).

To get the membership list use one of the methods in the wiki page Frances cited.

Cindy, gosh, that's tough.?
You can certainly get your member list.
You can request a download from Yahoo. They have extended the deadline for getting the download.

Any suggestions, folks, for photos?
