Re: Face Book
Glenn Glazer
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe short answer is no. The slightly
longer answer is that Facebook does not provide identity
information, and in particular, email addresses of members to
Facebook group owners. At that point, one would have to ask every
member for their email address and pretty much start a new group
from scratch. The much longer answer involves a bunch of technical
details on how Facebook groups store and present data in
completely different ways than groups do.

I purchased the PGOffline program and with that was able to download and export the list of members by display name.? But I am NOT getting the email addresses or any other member data.? Does anyone know if there is a way to do that with PGO?? Or, failing that, can the Chrome app do it?
Frances, by purchase I meant the transfer service from iogroups. I also tried the Archiveteam but it returned an error message.? Will try it again. ? https://www.archiveteam.org/index.php?title=Yahoo!_Groups Thanks. Alan |

Bruce,
? Yes, you are so right.? That's why I've spend the entire day snagging more messages on this borrowed time.? Come Monday morning, the chances will be much slimmer. ? Per Yahoo's notice ... Attention: Starting December 14, 2019 Yahoo Groups will no longer host user created content on its sites. .... ? The key word is STARTING.? So, speculating it will be a slow process.? Maybe whacking the lower fruit groups with the least members and small content along with years of in-activity.?? BUT, I could be wrong on that too. ? BMaverick |

Yea, but it's unfortunate that the results cannot be viewed by regular subscribers... On Sun, Dec 15, 2019 at 11:03 AM Frances <frances@...> wrote: On Sun, Dec 15, 2019 at 03:51 PM, Frances wrote: |

Plain text applies to the message itself. However if the sender doesn't actually send in plain text, the system has to do the conversion itself. It appears that occasionally that conversion can convert HTML to plain text instead of deleting it. Plain text will allow live links. I believe the system extracts to ASCII and not to Extended ASCII or UTF-8, because some characters don't come through.
?
Normalize HTML Emails is not as restrictive as plain text and will allow through more than plain text, but as noted, strips out color and font information.

On my two groups Plain Text Only is working. For one I chose Attachments - Strip, for another Attachments - Allow.

That's almost certainly the best way. Well... maybe. If the poster gets the subject line more or less completely correct and the previous post is less than 30 days old then it should thread correctly. Groups.io does its best but if the subject line is too much of a mismatch then it probably won't succeed, and the quoted figure of 30 days is a hard and fast rule; over that and it won't thread. In your position I would recommend members to not try to play catch - up by email but to do if from the web UI. Chris |

Is it possible to email an old thread by it's message number?
Zhao Li
Hi GMF, Is it possible to send an email to an old topic and have it be related to the topic/thread? I see it's possible using the web interface, but was wondering if it's possible by emailing. Can I include the message number (attached screenshot) on the subject line or something? Thank you for your help, Zhao |

I think the plain text in admin, settings modifies Attachments, not the messages themselves.
If you want to delete colour etc. in the message itself, tick this checkbox: Normalize HTML Emails
Strip all different fonts and colors from HTML emails.
Hope this gets at part of your problem. Frances -- Moving to Groups.io (without easy transfer)

Plain text only setting still includes HTML message part
#settings
#listmanagement
I've configured my group Messaging Formatting with only "Plain Text Only"
checks. (See attached.) This isn't working how I expected it to. A recent message to the list [1] is showing up with HTML both on the Groups.io site and in the copy that I received in my email. This is most obvious at the end of the message where there is a link preview for a link to Google Groups. I expected that by checking "Plain Text Only", that the HTML part of the author's message would have been would have been dropped before the message was stored in the group's archive or sent to members with email delivery configured. Have I misunderstood this feature? Can someone explain what it does & the intended use? It looks like the author of this message may have composed it in the Outlook desktop client or with the Outlook.com web client. I can't tell from the headers... In the message source on Groups.io (not visible to the general public, but at [2]), the Content-Type headers is Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="_000_AM7PR04MB688855C84D1E91BC091B6937A4560AM7PR04MB6888eurp_" And, indeed, there are two parts, a text/plain part and a text/html part: --_000_AM7PR04MB688855C84D1E91BC091B6937A4560AM7PR04MB6888eurp_ Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable --_000_AM7PR04MB688855C84D1E91BC091B6937A4560AM7PR04MB6888eurp_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable [1]: /g/rapidq/message/13 [2]: /g/rapidq/original/13 -- Christopher Warrington <lists@...> |
