Complain to Charter. You pay them to deliver your messages...if they aren't doing it, they aren't fulfilling their contract.

John,

PGO has been a HUGE help in all of this.

Even in private restricted groups, one can hit the JOIN button on the YG and have nearly instant access.? Then use PGO to snag all of the group. :)? My group had 3 spin-offs and a compliment group on YG.? Between myself and another YG owner, we are still working and pulling data right now.? Glad YG is going slow or will start on the conversion on a M-F 9-5 job time table and not a Sunday.? Hoping today as Sunday is a free get it while you can day. :)?
?
There are HUNDREDS of YG out there with AWESOME content.? And I've found more than a dozen last night I wish I was a part of or could snag to PGO them, but YG servers are very slow right now.? Plus, many of these groups have no recent discussion to migrate anywhere.? How sad, these will be lost.? Wish there was a way to balance GIO and others to GET THERE DATA MIGRATED and then allow the AT (Archive Team) the ability to preserve the rest that isn't moving.?
?
As the saying goes, Did you eat today?? Thank a farmer. :)?? There are hundreds of Home & Garden YG's for farming, home-making and gardening.? Both Homesteading to your local Farmer's Markets.? There is a heavy amount of wealth in those YG's with this.

OK, I'll stop there.? I can really get going on a topic like that. :)

Same here ... but this morning on the 15th, PGO is working.? I've found a break away group and trying my best to snag it all.? Yes, after the deadline, but I'm hoping YG works a typical M-F 9-5 jobs. :)? Not sure how long we really have.? Glad it's still working. :) ? 24,000+ messages gotten so far with PGO.

Message Reply To setting / enhancement?

Brady Turner

Edited

I have set up a group for my club and a private subgroup for the club¡¯s officers and board of directors.? Any club member can send a message to the subgroup.

?

I would like to have the default message reply to option to be ¡®reply to group¡¯ with an optional ¡®reply to group and sender¡¯.? That way if the board gets a question/issue from the club member they can discuss it within the group privately and when they come to an answer respond to the sender, but also have a copy of their formal reply to the sender retained in the subgroup (for historical context).? The board members change on a yearly basis, so in order to retain confidentiality of the internal board discussion, the default reply option should be ¡®reply to group.¡¯

?

Looking at the message reply to options in the GIO web interface, I see ¡®reply to group¡¯ and an option to select the ¡®private¡¯ button which then only replies to the sender (with the option of BCC¡¯ing the sender, but not the group).? The other option is ¡®reply to group and sender¡¯ also with the ¡®private¡¯ button, which again only replies to the sender (with the option of BCC¡¯ing the sender, but not the group). ?In the GIO web interface I don¡¯t see any option to modify the distribution list of the reply (yes, in an email client you can do this)

?

I thought I should check with others to see if I am missing a setting to enable this behavior, or if I should submit this as an enhancement request to the Beta group.? Seems like this would be a common use case.

?

Regards,

Brady Turner

Are other users of spectrum/charter getting this?

In the bounce list I'm seeing this code:

pkvw-mx.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net: 421 p-impin016.msg.pkvw.co.charter.net
cmsmtp 66.175.222.12 blocked AUP#CMPOL

And nothing from groups.io has shown up overnight. Now, I'm seeing these via
my groups.io account 'Recent Bounces', it is logging these as bounces, but
it is not showing status as if I'm bounced. Just in case, I went to the web
side of the email and made sure that groups.io is in the safe sender list.
This started sometime on Saturday.

Since the whole charter.net cloud covers millions of users, I'm kind of at a
loss for what could I do that I haven't done already. So mostly I'm asking
to see if others are having this issue. If anyone then has clue to the fix,
that would also be good.

Assuming that the person concerned is a member and you have found her membership in your records did you happen to notice her moderation status, e.g. was there an "NP" flag against her entry in the list? That would prevent her from posting by any method. It is worth checking her Posting Privileges on her individual membership page to make sure that it is correct.

How is she trying to post; is it by email or via the web UI? If the latter then Shal's guidance about logging - in applies; if the former is she using her account email address or another one entirely? If it's anothert email address then it won't work!

Bingo. What you received is what Yahoo! said would be available in the bundle they create for us.

You've another 3 hours to get Photos and Attachments if you wish them.

PGO may be used to download photos in batches. Even the trial version of the software will do so in batches of 20. Albums become directories.

Shal has offered some other bits.

Laurence,

I just received a message by way of my personal email that begins with
"I can't seem to figure out how to get into the new group to reply."
Perhaps this link will help that person:
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Logging-In

I do a search and her email does not come up.....I do a direct
add and I get the message in the subject line.....what am doing wrong?
As Duane said, you must be searching the Members page.
/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Directory-and-Members-List

If that's where you were I've no idea, unless maybe you typoed the address when searching for it.

Re: To sub group members automatically get main group posts?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

It somewhat depends on the purpose of the subgroup.

For example, I have a large group on a general topic and several subgroups on particular aspects. This was done because the subgroup transfer costs could not be justified by the smaller membership but the subgroups are worth keeping.

So, while the default is everyone gets all messages to the main group, I encourage subgroup members to set their main group message preference to no email.
Hence subgroup members get only the subgroup messages and the very few Special Notices from the main group.

Thanks Bruce I think your answer to a) actually answers b) as well. If all main group emails go to everybody in sub groups, then the organizing group responsible for the list should have their own sub group for their own internal organizing.

Re: Identifying Sub-Groups

Larry,

Is it possible to determine and identify sub-groups of which you are a
main group member but not a sub-group member?
Yes.

If the group has subgroups there should be a Subgroups button in the left-column navigation list. On that page there are sections for "Subgroups You Belong To" and "Subgroups You Can Join".

However, there may be other subgroups that are not made visible to the parent group members (that's in the subgroup's Settings) and those will not be listed in the You Can Join list.

Re: YGroups shutdown... In progress?

Paul,

BUT... in the queue of the individual messages in that Topics list,
when a message was clicked on it would load but there was no text
displayed other than the subject line.
I've been seeing that a lot in the last couple days. Generally refreshing the page will eventually cause the message body to display, but it may take several. I've had better results with Edge than Firefox, but that could be coincidence (I generally read in email, not on the group's pages).

The only YGroups I've got left now are GMF and one other gardening
group. Left them just to see what will happen when the Y!G
conversion/downsizing gets into full swing.
The plan is to keep GMF on Yahoo going in the new email-only era. I'll use some other facility (possibly YahooGroupedia) to host reference material which I used to cite just by pointing back to prior messages.

But how Yahoo is choosing which groups get converted first is a
mystery.
I don't think the deliberate removal of access is underway yet. I think what we're seeing with message body access is simply a manifestation of Neo's long-standing problem with accessing content in the face of server congestion or problems.
