Unable to transfer old Yahoo group
I am sorry to bother you, but we followed the procedure exactly. I am owner of both the Yahoo and groups.io groups.
The process was started almost TWO MONTHS AGO. We have never received a response from the [email protected] email in the Yahoo group, thru email, or anywhere else. Yes, I see the "outage" message at /yahootransfer. What the hell does that mean? It is possible to download Yahoo group messages as a series of text files. How are they uploaded to groups.io as part of the message database? I already managed to download the FILES section of the Yahoo group and tried to upload it to groups.io--it appears to start the process, but NEVER FINISHES. It just hangs. Please respond to my email synth@... if possible. Thank you for your attention. |

See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Avoiding-threading-topics---threading-algorithm?for details. Summarizing:? -- If an incoming EMAIL runs the subject line threading gauntlet described in the wiki page above, such that it would ordinarily be appended to an existing topic, then it runs up against the topic lock, and a rejection notice is sent. -- If a subscriber is reading a locked topic online, the Reply button is disabled, such that he cannot post to the topic. -- If the subscriber instead clicks on the "New Topic" button online, then it's NOT rejected, but is instead treated as a new topic, even if the subject lines match. On a group I belong to, and another where I moderate, and topics are obviously not ¡°locked¡±, when someone posts a subject line of ¡°new member¡± or another commonly posted subject line, it often gets folded into really, really old threads which have a lot of posts to plow through (some containing outdated information). On my own groups I specify lock times to avoid this. This kind of thing can happen, but in theory, if a given subject line has 30 consecutive days of inactivity, a new topic should be opened regardless of the message's origin, and that message will not end up being rejected by the previously-existing lock. More details at?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/18863 I hope that made sense (it barely makes sense to ME). Bruce |

Thanks. I don't know if anyone has thought of this but this site is a way for managers to learn all the editing and message mgte stuff. I frequently stop in the middle of doing something and explore all the ways to do something. Good OJT. |

Is the issue with a low-resolution image displaying pixelation on your high-resolution desktop screen? If so, please consider what might happen to those viewing a larger image with a smartphone if your proposal was to be implemented. We are new to this, but we are forced to pay for groups.io because we are or will be just above the 1gb limit. That limit is exceeded almost completely by our photographs. It is really hard to justify that expense when the photos are displayed at such poor quality.?GMF is a user-to-user help group...we have no more "powers" within groups.io than you do. Actual feature requests should be posted to?.? Good luck, Bruce |

Answer: YES. (So Bruce was correct.) This behavior makes sense for events that repeat say weekly or monthly, but for a 4-day event, it really doesn't. This will give you a single reminder notification for the first day as desired, with the downside that the start/end times for each day will not appear on the calendar. Bruce |
Re: Calendar features questions
I hope that request does get implemented!
Reporting back on another part of my original questions. 2. If I set a reminder for the event, will it be sent before each day? (I ended up having to create an event that repeats for the 4 days. With a reminder say 5 days before the event, will it send one 5 days before the first day, then 5 days before the second day, and so forth?)Answer: YES. (So Bruce was correct.) Re: Another YG outage
Thanks, Frances.? I tried off and on all morning to open messages on various groups with no luck, it is a good outage.? I got to everything, I just couldn't open anything.? I hope they haven't deleted archives.? and I hope they get it fixed.? Someone on yahoo gmf said he thought they were trying to institute the 10/28 changes and couldn't figure out how to do it, so they had it all messed up.

1. when including a photo with an email, the photos all get loaded into an album called Emailed Photos. Once they are in there, they cannot be edited or moved or anything. This can't be right. Am I missing something here? No, you aren't missing anything. The Emailed Photos folder provides only a convenient way to view (and delete) photo attachments, analogous to the Photostream in Yahoo Groups. To manipulate photos in the manner you suggest, they must be uploaded to an actual album. 2. All photos in the albums seem to be displayed by filling the screen to the maximum limit. This results in a very poor image quality. You can get a better quality image by clicking Download but that extra step is terribly inefficient and seems so unnecessary. Why are the photos not displayed as stored so that when you are browsing them, you get the best image quality??Because doing so would then cause some images to overflow a small browser window and display scroll bars. It would be nice to have a personal account setting that you can toggle back and forth, but considering all the various screen resolutions and aspect ratios in use, it seems unlikely that there is any one way to handle this that will make everybody happy. Jim Jones??????????????????????????? ? ?? Would not transfer correctly |
Re: Unable to invite [email protected]

Being? an owner doesn't automatically confer all privileges. Go to your membership management page in the Yahoo group, find your membership (easiest is to select moderators) and set the required permissions. As Owner, you can change your own permissions to whatever you need.
