Bob -- Correct. You will have to first download the photo from Emailed Photos and re-upload it to an album.

For 2. that is a shame and there must be a way around this.
Not that I am aware of. But now I'm wondering if I really understand the problem.

Is the issue with a low-resolution image displaying pixelation on your high-resolution desktop screen? If so, please consider what might happen to those viewing a larger image with a smartphone if your proposal was to be implemented.

We are new to this, but we are forced to pay for groups.io because we are or will be just above the 1gb limit. That limit is exceeded almost completely by our photographs. It is really hard to justify that expense when the photos are displayed at such poor quality.?
GMF is a user-to-user help group...we have no more "powers" within groups.io than you do. Actual feature requests should be posted to?.?

Good luck,
Bruce

Answer: YES. (So Bruce was correct.) This behavior makes sense for events that repeat say weekly or monthly, but for a 4-day event, it really doesn't. Su -- That would certainly work. Consider also setting up a single, all-day event that spans multiple days (as opposed to a recurring event). This will give you a single reminder notification for the first day as desired, with the downside that the start/end times for each day will not appear on the calendar.

Re: Calendar features questions

I hope that request does get implemented!

Reporting back on another part of my original questions.

2. If I set a reminder for the event, will it be sent before each day? (I ended up having to create an event that repeats for the 4 days. With a reminder say 5 days before the event, will it send one 5 days before the first day, then 5 days before the second day, and so forth?)

Re: Another YG outage

Thanks, Frances.? I tried off and on all morning to open messages on various groups with no luck, it is a good outage.? I got to everything, I just couldn't open anything.? I hope they haven't deleted archives.? and I hope they get it fixed.? Someone on yahoo gmf said he thought they were trying to institute the 10/28 changes and couldn't figure out how to do it, so they had it all messed up.

If you're transferring a YG to a subgroup, anyone that's not already a member of the main group will be added as they're transferred, so they'd be a member of main and subgroup.

No, you aren't missing anything. The Emailed Photos folder provides only a convenient way to view (and delete) photo attachments, analogous to the Photostream in Yahoo Groups. To manipulate photos in the manner you suggest, they must be uploaded to an actual album.

2. All photos in the albums seem to be displayed by filling the screen to the maximum limit. This results in a very poor image quality. You can get a better quality image by clicking Download but that extra step is terribly inefficient and seems so unnecessary. Why are the photos not displayed as stored so that when you are browsing them, you get the best image quality??
Because doing so would then cause some images to overflow a small browser window and display scroll bars.

It would be nice to have a personal account setting that you can toggle back and forth, but considering all the various screen resolutions and aspect ratios in use, it seems unlikely that there is any one way to handle this that will make everybody happy.

Photos in Emails and photo quality

I am a new owner (Manitobabirds) and have recently converted from Yahoo. I am ecstatic how well groups.io is working. It has exceeded all expectations.?

Once again, I've had to disable new transfer requests. Yahoo is erroring out for the vast majority of our requests. I'll update if/when this changes.

When you create the subgroup, you name it.
So it could be [email protected]
and the next could be [email protected]

The email address is automatically generated.
In my test group, I have:
[email protected]
and
[email protected]

I hope I asked this right. As:

Yahoo group?????????????????? Groups-io group???????????? Groups.io sub-group
Bill Smith???????????????????????? Bill Smith???????????????????????? Bill Smith???????????????????????????????? Would transfer correctly (though NoMail perhaps in main group)

Jim Jones??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?? Jim Jones??????????????????????????? ? ?? Would not transfer correctly
Yes, members must be transferred to the main group from YG.?

They retain their same subscription when they are transferred to Groups.io, except "no mail" is transferred to Special notices only.
I believe this is only if you have disallowed no mail on your Groups.io group.
(I do - otherwise it isn't possible to send the very occasional email to everyone in your group without sending out individual or bcc emails or some other workaround.)

All of your main group people will be viewed available for direct adding to your subgroup. Go to Admin in the subgroup, and Direct Add. Check boxes beside all names with a button "+add members".

Re: Unable to invite [email protected] #transfer

Being? an owner doesn't automatically confer all privileges. Go to your membership management page in the Yahoo group, find your membership (easiest is to select moderators) and set the required permissions. As Owner, you can change your own permissions to whatever you need.

Re: Topic duration?

If a topic is locked and a member uses the same subject line as a ¡°new topic¡± does it start a new thread with the same subject line or is the same subject line rejected and the poster notified?
On a group I belong to, and another where I moderate, and topics are obviously not ¡°locked¡±, when someone posts a subject line of ¡°new member¡± or another commonly posted subject line, it often gets folded into really, really old threads ?which have a lot of posts to plow through (some containing outdated information). On my own groups I specify lock times to avoid this.

Optional. If the email address is not currently subscribed to the .io group then From: line is rewritten but original From is inserted into beginning of message body.

Re: Transfer Ownership of groups.io group?

Remaining an owner, but ceasing to act as one, may be a better alternative in many circumstances. Having more than one owner is insurance against orphaning a group when the sole owner is incapacitated. The difficulty with a co-owner is you must trust your co-owner with the power that ownership incurs. Since you already trust this new owner enough to hand over the group, perhaps you have found an ideal co-owner. You can step into the background and remain an insurance policy against untoward events.

Re: How do you delete individual messages?? #howto

One thing I might add in case this is one of your messages that you
wanted to delete.

I know of some group owners who moderate all of their own messages.
That way they have time to think about what they sent out and can
delete it before it reaches the group after giving some additional
thought to the message, proofreading it for grammar errors, or
whatever the potential problem might be.

That way it takes an additional action on the owner's part to review
their post before approving it. Of course, they could just approve it
without reviewing it but that additional step might be all that's
needed to make sure that the message is one that was appropriate and
intended to be sent.
