Re: Photos in Emails and photo quality

This can't be right. Am I missing something here? No, you aren't missing anything. The Emailed Photos folder provides only a convenient way to view (and delete) photo attachments, analogous to the Photostream in Yahoo Groups. To manipulate photos in the manner you suggest, they must be uploaded to an actual album. 2. All photos in the albums seem to be displayed by filling the screen to the maximum limit. This results in a very poor image quality. You can get a better quality image by clicking Download but that extra step is terribly inefficient and seems so unnecessary. Why are the photos not displayed as stored so that when you are browsing them, you get the best image quality??Because doing so would then cause some images to overflow a small browser window and display scroll bars. It would be nice to have a personal account setting that you can toggle back and forth, but considering all the various screen resolutions and aspect ratios in use, it seems unlikely that there is any one way to handle this that will make everybody happy. Photos in Emails and photo quality
I am a new owner (Manitobabirds) and have recently converted from Yahoo. I am ecstatic how well groups.io is working. It has exceeded all expectations.?
There are a few things relative to photos that are perplexing however.? 1. when including a photo with an email, the photos all get loaded into an album called Emailed Photos. Hi All,
?
Once again, I've had to disable new transfer requests. Yahoo is erroring out for the vast majority of our requests. I'll update if/when this changes.
?
Thanks,
Mark

I believe this is only if you have disallowed no mail on your Groups.io group. (I do - otherwise it isn't possible to send the very occasional email to everyone in your group without sending out individual or bcc emails or some other workaround.) All of your main group people will be viewed available for direct adding to your subgroup. Go to Admin in the subgroup, and Direct Add. Check boxes beside all names with a button "+add members". Is creating a sub-group as simple as identifying it in the group email address but using the sub-group address? Like
[email protected] ???? and [email protected] ??????????? [email protected] ? Or is it something else ... and I missed it? |
Membership in sub-domains

Do persons have to be members of the groups.io main group before their Yahoo group membership can be transferred from the Yahoo group into the groups.io sub-group?

Being? an owner doesn't automatically confer all privileges. Go to your membership management page in the Yahoo group, find your membership (easiest is to select moderators) and set the required permissions. As Owner, you can change your own permissions to whatever you need.

Re: Topic duration?
If a topic is locked and a member uses the same subject line as a ¡°new topic¡± does it start a new thread with the same subject line or is the same subject line rejected and the poster notified?
On a group I belong to, and another where I moderate, and topics are obviously not ¡°locked¡±, when someone posts a subject line of ¡°new member¡± or another commonly posted subject line, it often gets folded into really, really old threads ?which have a lot of posts to plow through (some containing outdated information). On my own groups I specify lock times to avoid this. Patti |

Re: Transfer Ownership of groups.io group?
Remaining an owner, but ceasing to act as one, may be a better alternative in many circumstances. Having more than one owner is insurance against orphaning a group when the sole owner is incapacitated. The difficulty with a co-owner is you must trust your co-owner with the power that ownership incurs. Since you already trust this new owner enough to hand over the group, perhaps you have found an ideal co-owner. You can step into the background and remain an insurance policy against untoward events.

Re: How do you delete individual messages??
#howto
One thing I might add in case this is one of your messages that you
wanted to delete. I know of some group owners who moderate all of their own messages. That way they have time to think about what they sent out and can delete it before it reaches the group after giving some additional thought to the message, proofreading it for grammar errors, or whatever the potential problem might be. That way it takes an additional action on the owner's part to review their post before approving it. Of course, they could just approve it without reviewing it but that additional step might be all that's needed to make sure that the message is one that was appropriate and intended to be sent. Unable to invite [email protected]

Help,
I am trying to help move a group from yahoo groups that I did not setup. The original owner has made me an owner of the yahoo group but I still seem to not have full permissions of the existing yahoo group.? Many items say I do not have permissions, I can't edit settings of the old yahoo group, etc.? I can't find a way to invite the needed alias for transfers. Specifically, the ability to simply invite the '[email protected]' required to start the transfer process from Yahoo groups to Groups.io.? ?Or if someone knows what instructions I can send the original owner that might help?? Everything I search seems to not be available when I look in the group so unclear why being an owner doesn't allow the necessary operations? If anyone has any suggestions I'd be grateful as we are trying to move the content before the December date.? ? For reference the simple instructions I'm referring to are in step 3 of this link?/yahootransfer. Which says : send an invite?from your Yahoo Group?to? [email protected] Thank you, Jason |

Is there anyway to make subgroups have the web subscribe option? Or is it only a manual email option? It is possible to manually create a "join this group" button (using the html gleaned from Admin>Promote as a template) for a subgroup, but it won't work unless the provided email address is already a member of the main group. I suppose you could set up the main and subgroup buttons side by side and have people fill them out sequence, but it wouldn't be very tidy.? If you want people to subscribe directly to a subgroup via the web, a mailto link to the +subscribe address would probably be your best option.? Regards, Bruce |
