Andrew -- You need to check your status according to?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19948 and tell us what the pink box says at the top of the resulting page. Without this information we are unable to tell you how to proceed.

You *have* upgraded your destination group to the Premium Yearly payment plan, right?

Yahoo Transfer #transfer

I tried to execute the Yahoo transfer process more than a month ago. I have, on multiple occasions, invited the email in the instructions to the Yahoo Group (ie steps 10-11-12), but with no response. I cannot find a way to contact someone at IO to help with this. We are a paid group and want to preserve our records before any final dispensation from Yahoo before the end of the year. Help?

Gilbert/Su -- The URLs of photos in albums are also not static, changing as photos are added to or deleted from the album.

Bottom line is that you really need to host the image somewhere else if you want to ensure the desired behavior. Again, see?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/31532132#16547

Insert Image While Editing Message #editmemberemail #images

Hello,

I have searched for this but can find no direct reference to it with regard to messages.

I accidentally erased an inserted (not attached) photo while editing a message.? (It happened to be my own message, but I don't think it matters.)? I could see no option to re-insert the image during editing.? Is this correct, or am I missing something?

Many thanks,
Charlie

Good Morning,

I am a moderator for a newly transferred Yahoo group, and have been tasked by our Admin to determine if there is a way to customize the default categories on the left of the page, such as renaming the "Files" link, or if there is the ability to Add other categories? I have been unable to find anything that would indicate this is possible. The main reason is that we had quite a few "Links" in the old Yahoo group and would like to replicate those in a "Links" folder in our new group.

If this is not possible...wondering the best options available. I did see where many folks have added links to the Wiki area, and wonder if this is the best approach that has been found for this, or if it is possible to put them in the "Files" area as well.

All input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ann

That, I'm afraid, is because it isn't.

Those links should have turned up in the Database section.

I've just done a quick test and the URL for an individual image doesn't work without being logged in. Attempting it brings up a log - in page, which once completed reveals the individual image.

Re: Calendar features questions

Gilbert,

Ooooh, I tried putting in an img in the description and it came out
great. I was able to reference an image in the photos section.
You might want to double-check that the image is visible to a member who receives the notification or reminder by email, and is not logged in to Groups.io (or is not using a web-based email interface).

I'm thinking that such an URL might be unavailable if one isn't logged in, because the Photos section is normally a members-only function. But I don't know if Groups.io enforces that rule at the level of the image URLs, or only on the page URLs.

3. Is there any provision to attach a flyer or other image to a calendar event?
Not really. You can embed an <img> tag for a photo hosted on another site and have it show up in the Event Description, but if the photo is subsequently moved or deleted a broken link will show instead. The process is kinda weird and unreliable, see /g/GroupManagersForum/topic/31532132#16547 for details. I don't know if it would work for a PDF or any other data type. If you try it, please report back on what you find out.
Ooooh, I tried putting in an img in the description and it came out great. I was able to reference an image in the photos section.

1) Find the photo in your photos section, and right-click on the download tab (I¡¯m in Firefox), which let¡¯s me ¡°copy link¡±
2) Strip everything off the end from the ¡°?¡± that link, and you have the URL of the image.
3) Edit the calendar event, go advanced, and source code, and put in <img src=¡°/g/yourgroup/photo/nnnnnn/n/photoname.jpg¡±/>. (or whatever)

If you make a ¡°flyer¡± for your event, it looks pretty good.

Re: Special Notices not delivered to all members who selected Special #specialnotice

>Could they have been on No Email part of the time?

Yes, that is the case and would explain messages not delivered during that time. But after I turned off the No Email option, shouldn't they have all received the most recent special notice?

Bruce,

If you click on the "View/Reply Online" link in any message footer, it
not only takes you to the message online, but opens the editor for you
to reply. ...

I find this annoying, and made a suggestion in beta not to open the
editor unless I ask for it, but the notion never got much traction.
I agree.

Fortunately for me it is only the links in Digests that do that, so I don't get hit with it very often.

RFI-EMI-GUY,

While visiting some groups I subscribe to, but do not manage, I found
that in one case there were 4 drafts created. I deleted them. I don't
know what action created them.
If you begin a New Topic or Reply, but then leave the page without either Sending it or Discarding it then it will be saved as a Draft.

Is it a bug???
The mechanism is supposed to ignore an empty draft. But I don't know if it ignores spaces, tabs, returns or other non-printing characters.

Probably not.

If you click on the "View/Reply Online" link in any message footer, it not only takes you to the message online, but opens the editor for you to reply. This creates a draft, which persists until you log out, even if you didn't type anything. To avoid that, be sure to hit the Discard button before browsing away.

Probably not a bug.? Any time you start a topic or reply, then move off the page for any reason, a draft is created.? I do that now and then without even realizing it.? I occasionally have trouble with my internet and one gets created.? Could also be a temporary glitch at GIO that doesn't allow you to communicate for some reason.? Mark has programmed the site to do the best it can to make sure you don't lose a message in case of problems.
