Re: announce@.. list Replies to discuss@... list?
Daniel,
Replies to announcements should be sent to the discussion list. ThereA different approach would be to post the announcements simultaneously to both the primary and subgroup, but have the subscriptions in the primary group set to No Mail, or Special Notice, or perhaps Daily Summary. That way people in the discussion list can reply to the announcement naturally. People can easily leave the discussion list and remain in theA person choosing to do that would then change their subscription in the primary group to Individual Messages, or Digest, or whatever they like. The announcements will be moderated and hopefully a few messages aIn the primary group this can be accomplished with either the Announcement Group or the Moderated box in the Spam Control section of its Settings page. In the subgroup (discussion list) do you want members to be able to start their own topics, or only reply to an Announcement topic? Either choice is possible. If they are allowed to start their own topics it is simple: leave all the Spam Control boxes unchecked. If you want to restrict them to replies it is a bit more involved. There isn't a setting for that directly, but you can set the subgroup to Moderated, but put a special hashtag on all announcements. The hashtag can then have the "Replies Unmoderated" property, to allow replies but new topics by the members would be moderated. You could then reject them, perhaps with a reminding note back to the member. Hi,
Is there a way to create a pool folder under Files where members can upload files and from there the mods can scrutinize and if not spam or non-related files, move and file the user uploaded file in the correct folder? Members do not care where they file and in a short while the Files section is chaotic to say the least, especially when we have to deal with technical reference documents. Thanks, Herman |
Re: Heic photo format (iPhone 11, iOS 13.2.3)
Larry,
One photo is 3MB as HEIC. It is 3.6MB as jpeg. But Groups.io uploader said it was 3.47MB. Frances -- FAQ on Moving from YahooGroups GMF Wiki: (unofficial) Help for members (and would-be members) and group managers |
Re: Heic photo format (iPhone 11, iOS 13.2.3)
Frances, just out of curiousity, would you mind comparing the size of a jpg-converted heic photo with its heic predecessor. I worked with one of the developers of the JPEG standard several years ago and she was convinced that improvements, if any, would be in the single digits of per cent. Larry |

Re: Links in digest
Su,
The only solution I can think of then is to tell members about it. AnyWhether forwarded content gets wrapped in a blockquote or not may be an option in some email interfaces. Thunderbird does not do that. It has two choices for forwarded content: " inline" and "as attachment". When Inline is selected it puts a header block in front of the forwarded message, as below. Re: Heic photo format (iPhone 11, iOS 13.2.3)
Thank you everyone.?
I discovered that in Photos I can export it as jpeg or png, save it somewhere on my computer ant then upload the photo to Groups.io. Looks great on the group website or in email. Go to File, Export. Re: Can we disable replies to a posting?
Larry,
I'm still waiting to see full headers from someone who has setExample 1: To: [email protected]Note the lack of a Reply-To: field. It isn't needed because in this case the reply should go to the From address. Example 2: From: "Shal's name via Groups.Io" <shalstest_new@...>Note this time there is a Reply-To field. It is required in cases where the sender's email address has been munged for DMARC. The From field contains an address which won't accept messages, but will satisfy Yahoo Mail's demand that lists not send messages "From" them. /static/help#dmarc Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Hiding contact info from others
Carter,
We have a very shy member who doesn't want anyone else in the group toDoes she ever post messages? If so her email address will be sent to members who receive her post by individual messages. There is no way around that. I'd like to hide her completely from the directory listing members canIt is done by default. That is, the Directory is opt-in as far as members seeing each other's profile listed there. So unless she chose to make her Profile available to other members, it won't be. Note that even if she did, the Profile info does not contain her email address - it only includes whatever information the member chooses to put into their profile. It would have a button whereby other members could send her a message off-list, but that works without revealing her email address to the other member. However if she replies to the other member that reply would of course be From her email address. How to change private groups to public?

Eva,
I cannot start a new transfer.. I get this error message:Have you resolved this yet? As Bruce and Duane mentioned, that prior (or current) transfer must be deleted before you can start a new one from that Yahoo Group. That could have been yourself, yourself logged in using a different email address, or someone else. If you can't figure out who it is, then only support can help you. I've written Mark directly with no answer.I'm not sure what you mean by "directly", but if you have already upgraded your destination Group to Premium Yearly then you should receive priority response from [email protected]. But even so it may be a while, as there's apparently quite a backlog. I'm fine with deleting the subgroup if I could get the informationI don't see how that could be helpful. You should target the transfer for whichever Groups.io primary or subgroup you intend to contain the content of the Yahoo Group - there's no easy way to move content between groups and/or subgroups.
