Re: How to approve "pending" members imported from YG?
Argh, me again. I don't know what's happening with my group. Only about 5 seem to have gotten the notice from groups.io....out of 1000 original members. I've posted several messages in our yahoogroup¡ªexplaining how to interact with the group, set up a password, etc.¡ªand few respond. I'm not sure what to do next. Maybe they are busy...or maybe they're not receiving any of the mail? ? thank you! |
Re: Which "custom Welcome notice" will the transfer agent use?
Samuel,
?
- Do you know if the welcome message will form part of it, or will be Sent separately.
?
That's why there's an option to have no active Welcome notices, or to uncheck the sending of the "you've been added" - some people felt that two emails to the transferred member was one too many. (some thought that even one was too many, but that's another thing).
?
I was also wondering if the members will be added directly Added directly. Hence You have been added...
?
Also, silly of me, but I have actually received such a message myself So the key change I'm seeing is that the paragraph about the Updates group has been removed. That sounds familiar, I recall people objecting to it. So I've deleted it from the example. I found the #changelog message where Mark added that to transfers (2017-01-20 ) but not where he took it out again.

The "BT mail" point now seems likely to be wide of the mark if your prospective members are not in the UK, although it is not impossible for the same problem to arise with other mail providers. That is why having a look in your activity log might help us work out what is (and is not) happening. Your but the messages I'm seeing are exactly like that, at least for one person hints at your possibly seeing what we are referring to , but it isn't entirely clear. And it isn't a fail for this platform; the problem lies somewhere in the email routing before it gets to Groups.io. Chris |

But I see from this example that members are added directly, and then given the option to unsubscribe. Also, silly of me, but I have actually received such a message myself very recently when a group that I'm a member of, joined. The text of the message is: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello, The owner of the OLDGROUPNAME Yahoo Group has moved the group to Groups.io, a new Groups service. You have been subscribed to the new group using your email address MYMAILADDRESS. The title of the new group is NEWGROUPNAME user forum, and messages can be sent to it at [email protected]. The group homepage is located [here]. Groups at Groups.io are similar to Yahoo Groups, but we have several new features and we encourage you to explore the Groups.io website. If you have never registered with Groups.io before, your account will not have a password set yet. To log in, you can use the 'Email me a link to login' button to have a link emailed to you that will let you log into the website. You do not have to do anything to continue being a member of this group. If you do not wish to be a member of NEWGROUPNAME, [click here to unsubscribe] and you will be unsubscribed immediately. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. Cheers, The Groups.io Team --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Cheers"... cheers means "thanks" where I'm from. I realise it means "goodbye" in other parts of the world. :-) Samuel |

Changing Image Size in Settings - Recently? as a newbie I set up a new groups transferring from Yahoo, about 1000 images.
Being mindful of the 1000MB limit I set the maximum stored photo size to 488 x 488 and now find that with everything transferred and plenty of space available that I wished I had gone up a size and chosen 1024 x 1024 instead. Question about Sent Invitations
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Maybe a silly question, but deleting someone from the list of Sent Invitations will not delete them from the group, correct?? I'm new to Groups.io and don't want to inadvertently delete members who actually want to belong to our group.
Thank you to all of the moderators here who have been keeping up with answering so many questions.

We were warned that "Attachments" would not be transferred from YG -Alan -- If you can download them to your PC, you could then upload them to your group's files area. At that point you could edit each of the affected messages to include a link to those files. But that's the best you can do. There is no attachment icon on the message edit toolbar, thus no way to "reattach the attachments." The following is a YG help question, but perhaps you would indulge ?Go to your group and click on Files. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page. You will find something to the effect of "Using XX.X MB of maximum 200 MB" Now click on Photos, followed by Albums. At the top of the page this time, you will find something to the effect of "Using YY.Y MB of maximum 100 GB. ZZZ photos uploaded so far." Adding XX.X and YY.Y will get you a rough estimate. Bruce |

Re: Best way to follow a topic?
In the email footer, there is a Follow link - if you have the Advanced Preferences activated. It does bring you to a web-based link that you must click. Perhaps she would prefer to do one of a few other options. - She could subscribe to Daily Summary.? - or if she wants no email at all, subscribe to Special Notices (I like to disable No Mail, but that's up to the group owner.) Then she goes to Groups.io (logged in) and clicks on Groups.io and looks at Feed. Feed is amazing - it gives you just the subject of recent posts (nested by topic) and any upcoming events. Try it yourself. No changes needed. Just go to Groups.io and click on Feed. However the only other suggestion is to create subgroups. That are always on topic!
