Special thanks to io
ok, ?we have completed all transfers and 20 years of history and dialogue are here and functioning. Just want to offer deepest thanks for the skill and professionalism of what is happening.?
We we endured all those years of incompetence and arrogance at yahoo because there didn¡¯t seem to be a way out. ?You have taken the original vision of community and made it work. good job kathleen |
Transfer payment options??
Hi all,
I understand that you need to have a premium $220 subscription in order to fully transfer a Yahoo Group to Groups.io In the payment plans there is an option to pay $20 monthly. I chose that for my group, and then after making the payment I see that you have to *pay in full for the year* in order to get your group transferred.?? So, questions: 1. Is paying $20 a month for a year going to get my group transferred, or not? I'm paying the same money... 2. If I have to pay the $220 up front to get my group changed over, what do I do now? I can't find any page that shows what I've paid, or any way to change from $20 month to pay the full $220.00 .? I would appreciate any info, and links to the appropriate pages if I need them. Thank you! :) |

Yes I could direct add them to the subgroup if I would know what subgroup they like to join. But when someone is using the join button on a subgroup the join request will be listed on the main group. That means I don't have aclue to what subgroup the person like to be added. In the moment I have to write every person that like to join a email to what subgroup they like to be added. This means I have to do this process by hand for each person that like to subscribe. DuaneIsidro |

Re: How to collect donations from members to support cost of forum
An alternative Paypal option if you don't wish to use the built-in. You can create a PayPal.me identity (but be careful, you get one shot at the name and it can't be changed later). A link to that can be placed on the site (I'd suggest on a Wiki page).? Probably less traceable than the built-in but usable. Re: Add Moderators
#addmembers
#owner
Exactly.? Our owner went missing back in 2009.? All the settings were then locked int an auto-pilot mode.?? Our moderator for 11 years tried to ask Yahoo to turn the group over to him, but to no avail.? We believe the owner actually DIED.
? Now the story gets even worse!? Our groups is the 2nd largest tractor membership on Yahoo.? JD only beats us out.? But there are 4 other related groups as well, created by our SAME owner!? Thus, we are now transferring all 5 groups over into 1 larger one. ? Wild, eh?? PGOffline has been the useful tool getting all of this data to one place, reviewed, structured and then ready to upload into Groups.io.? ? We are very pleased with the PG4 folks.? It's helped a great deal.? To do the regular Groups.io transfer would have been crazy for all the groups into one and the cost burden too.? Then the complications with not just the transfer, but the merging too.? ? Other than our group over there, 2 of the others are on full auto-pilot because the mods left a long while back too. SOOOOOOOO,? YES, it's good to have the ability to transfer ownership or allow a mod to step up and take over when the time for a change of guard happens.? -Bret |

Re: Non-member request to join sub-group subscribes only to parent group
Hallo,
Same experience. That's the reason why I now opend most of my subgroups so that the users can join wdirectly without further restrictions. For me it is OK that way. The non-members can send a join request and if they are members of the main group I trust them if they are not they have to follow the subscription process of the main group. Also I set every new member to moderated for the first message.? This should prevent to be intruded by spammers. But yes, it would be nice if there where a better subscription processing for the subgroups. I would love to have the possibility to use a matrix to configure what member of what subgroup has what joinig right to what other subgroup. That would make the process much more better. If then someone is member of a very well controlled subgroup you could configure higher rights to join other subgroups and so on... Also a better working notification processing for the subscription process would be very helpfull. At the moment I don't get any emails because the groups.io email server is blacklisted again :-( Regards, Isidro |

Hi Duane,
thank you for your response. Yes I reported that also to [email protected] So they are maybe lost. I hope that groups.io will do a good job in monitoring blacklisting and removing from the blacklists. Thank you, Isidro |

groups.io smtp server blocked again
Hi,
the groups.io server is on blacklists again. So I miss important subscription requests to our groups. mail.mxde.net: 554 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [66.175.222.12] blocked using dnsbl-1.uceprotect.net; IP 66.175.222.12 is UCEPROTECT-Level 1 listed. See Could you please check that out and whitelist your smtp server? And can I see the messages online that were send to owner ? All the Best, Isidro |
