• Saturday October 19:听 Alerted members of my group about Yahoo鈥檚 plans and discussed options (Google groups. Groups.io, Facebook, plain email, dissolution).听 People liked my description of Groups.io especially the ability to preserve ten years鈥� worth of content.
• Sunday October 20:听 Created group at Groups.io.听 Signed up for Premium and paid $110 (which doubled two days later).听 Sent invitation for [email protected] to join our Yahoo group.听 Heard nothing.
• Thursday October 24:听 Sent a second invitation to [email protected].
• Friday October 25:听 Invitation was finally accepted.听 (Whether it was Sunday鈥檚 or Thursday鈥檚, I don鈥檛 know.)听 I swiftly upgraded [email protected] to moderator and gave the go-ahead for transfer.
• Sunday October 27.听 Finally progressed to step 3 of 4.听 Place in queue #644.
• Monday October 28:听 #633.
• Tuesday October 29:听 #618.
• Wednesday October 30:听 #584.
• Thursday October 31:听 #553.听 The pace does seem to be picking up but we鈥檙e still looking at 2-4 more weeks if this continues.

I just uploaded over 500 email addresses and wanted to start using the calendar.听 听I am unclear what timezone is associated with the new members...I had set default to eastern.听 听I also didn't see a way I could check random members.听 They are all eastern time zone.

Any suggestions?

If you are just interested in transferring email addresses without all the other history from a yahoo group, you might want to get a premium membership for one month and upload all your email addresses.听 That's what we did and it took less than 8 hours to make this happen.听 听You will need to download your membership from yahoo, but that is pretty easy.听 You won't get all your old messages, etc.听听

If you have more than 20 members, you will get a notice about awaiting approval from moderator...an anti-spam protection...but approval was less than 2 hours.

Issue resolved and I got an email within an hour after I sent this posting

Susan -- Around 6 or 7 this morning I was at 201. It's after 9 PM and I'm at 185. But I think that rate can change based on the amount of content being transferred. If you think it's a long slog (which it will be), imagine what听 Mark is going through monitoring this 24/7*60 or more days.

We can all thank Yahoo for being expletives.

Yeah, I'm watching my numbers, too. I think every time someone ponies up $200 to be expedited, you and I get bumped.

I had understood there would be a 50% discount for Annual Premium groups for non-profits. 听In doing my first Upgrade from free just now, the only Annual Non-Profit I saw was for Enterprise.

Did I miss something?

You can revert to free after the first year.
You can take donations - see
/static/pricing

First decide if you need your message archive. If you don't, get a free group.

If you do need your messages, there are options, but they aren't perfect.

There is the possibility of a not-for-profit discount but only on the very expensive enterprise plan.听

There is no "Admin" pull down.

Use the "Management" pull down menu (on right, below group picture)
Select "Manage Invitations"
OR
Select "Manage Members"
Click on "+Invite" (below and to the right of the "Management" pull down menu)
Enter email address(es) in box
Click on "Invite" (at bottom of page)
- if it doesn't say 'invitation sent successfully' and the number of 'You can invite _ more members today' decreases,
or it says 'Sorry, an error occurred while loading the content.'
Click on "Invite" again.

This is why I am wondering if Yahoo is not allowing any more invites.

I just invited another email address of mine to join my 10 (already transferred in 2018) YahooGroups.
It took less than 15 minutes (due to slow YahooGroups page loading) to invite and have the invitations received.
It took about 50 minutes (due to multiple, multiple Captchas to solve and slow YahooGroups page loading) to accept the 10 invitations.
The Welcome to YahooGroup messages only took a minute or so each to be sent to and received by me.

I have already migrated two other Yahoo groups to groups.io with no problem, but they were done before the 28th. I'm just wondering if everything changed after the 28th.

Management > Manage Members showed the new member in all YahooGroups.
Management > Activity Log > Membership had no record of the new invitations, but there are the 2018 records of when I invited <[email protected]> in all YahooGroups.



I feel sorry for what must be Captcha-burnout on the part of the Groups.io person(s) doing the <[email protected]> YahooGroup invitation acceptances.

It makes no difference what the names of the groups are.听 The one on YG could be Blue and the one here could be Red.听 FYI, if you haven't started the transfer, you could add/change the name here so that it has the dash if that name hasn't been used.

If I leave it alone, my transferred membership will be rejected because I'm already a member on GIO. If I change the primary email address on either group before the transfer, I'll end up being listed twice, once as the owner under my GIO join date and once as a (transferred) member under my YG join date. Is that right?
