Your name will only appear at the bottom if you've set up a signature to be used and then only in some situations.? I may be misunderstanding though, so a screenshot could be helpful.

You could, but there are at least 2 problems.? Anyone that's already a member of the new group wouldn't be transferred.? Their current information wouldn't be updated to link to the information from YG.? What many groups do is transfer everything.? Then those members that don't care to still be in the group can use the link in the email they receive to remove themselves.? You can change (and Update) your request if the transfer hasn't started yet.

Re: yG Privacy Dashboard download #yahooprivacydashboard #ioimportpl

I just requested a download of my information from yahoo. You said you received all messages and files from groups you belong to. I read up on what mbox format is. Is this something you think I can upload to a group here? We want to put all our old posts, which contain very valuable information, into our new group here either on the message board or in the files. Message board is preferred. We were going to just start forwarding each old message to the message board here, starting with the oldest. It would be a daunting and very lengthy task.

Re: yG Privacy Dashboard download #yahooprivacydashboard #ioimportpl

Was the download divided into separate groups? And was each
Group separated into files and messages?

We have to manually upload to a group here because there¡¯s an absentee owner at the yahoo group.

Depending on how this download is put together it could be a huge help to this group here.

Thank you

message from Owner but with personal name

Hi,

I know the multiple transfer problems are predominant at the moment and I don?t want to ask this in beta,. Maybe this has been discussed there already.

There is an inconsistency as far as sending a message by the owner address is concerned which you can choose in the "From"-field. When at the bottom of the message the personal name of the sender appears.

So to the members such a message isn?t really sent in the name of all owners and moderators but by the person whose name appears at the bottom of the message. To me this doesn?t really make sense.

#transfer - can we transfer a second time if we have second thoughts about a category omitted in the first transfer? #transfer

I requested a transfer, but didn't check the box for members because our current YG membership includes an unknown number of people who are no longer active members but don't know how to unsubscribe.? For now I am relying on active members to tell me that they want to join, by requesting an invitation.?

If I wanted to, though, could I (before the December 1 deadline) submit a second transfer request with just the "members" box checked?? We only have 328 members.

Thanks

Bill

Re: Is there a uitlity/test/browse/practice group?

Sandi D.

I did something similar. I encouraged members in my YGs to create an IO login and look around. Many found IO groups that were of interest to them and joined them. That is really ideal as existing, active IO groups give new IO registrants a richer experience.?

But when I logged in and got to the download page:

Your Yahoo Groups data

Your download request has been completed, but no data of this type is available in your account.

Re: [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group

Well I went ahead and deleted the transfer request, started a new one and sent a new invite.
I hope this works this time.

A bit more information please...

  • When you say you created a Group was this in relation to a planned migration from a Yahoo group or was it done just to create a new group?
  • Were you already a Groups.io Account holder or did you set up an account as part of setting up a new group?
  • Was the email address you used as the one to set up the new group the same as that to which you inadvertently sent an invitation?
  • What "evidence" is there that you are no longer the owner of the new group?
  • Before sending out the invitations to join had any other person joined (for example at your request) and been made a moderator or co - owner?
It may be that there is nothing you can do directly to remedy the situation; the only indirect route will be to email [email protected] to explain the situation and ask if someone there can make the necessary changes to restore your ownership.?

Hello Duane.

That would be a great feature.? I am also working with Wilson on another issue.? I downloaded his latest PGO but it refuses to log me into Yahoo groups to even see my group.? This is despite the fact that I use Waterfox (Firefox 56) as well as Firefox (v70.0).? The problem appears to be that despite not getting the Yahoo oath message (I refuse to accept their oath so when browser presents it I say do it later which will be the sixth Tuesday of never) in the browswer PGO must be getting it.? So Wilson or his new programmer will be working on a method where PGO opens the browswer if a problem occurs (like the oath pop up) so it can be cleared and then go back to PGO.? I just hope this happens before Yahoo groups deletes everything!? At this point I can't even use PGO.? Wilson did offer to grab my groups but that is a lot of data and I would prefer to do it myself.? I have not had any luck getting Python to run on my Windows 7 box and the other 2 or 3 Github utilities seem to be Python scripts and all have said they do not work that well anyway so PGO seems to be the only game in town at this point.

Thank you.

Neither as far as I can see!

Firstly set up an "Invite" message in Admin > Settings > Member Notices. It is one of the options under Notice Type.

Then go to Admin > Invite. There is a (fixed) template Invitation To Be Sent as the first item on that page, followed by Customize Message. At the bottom of that section (above Emails) is a box called --Notices-- with a drop - down arrow at its right hand end. Use that drop down to add the Invite Message that you composed initially. Note that you can set up more than one Invite Message, and when you use the drop down you can pick whichever invite message is the most appropriate.

Hope that helps...

Chris

The Help page is a bit behind.? This was changed not too long ago.? For type Invite, you can set up as many as you'd like, or none.? If you have at least one, it will be in the Notices box on the Invite page in the Customize Message area and you can choose to insert it into the standard invitation.? If you have several, you can choose which one of them to use.

Erroneous "help" info (?)

According to the Help page, an "Invite"-type of?Member Notice can be "activated". Unlike the "Welcome" and "Pending Subscription"?notices, though, there is no "Active Message" option for my custom "Invite" notice. Apparently, all I can use it for is a place to store text to then copy and paste into an invitation screen.

Is the Help info wrong, or is my group not configured properly?

Thank you,

No longer moderator or owner #addmembers

I think I created this problem, here are the steps I took.

1.? I created a group.
2.? I uploaded a list of members to invite.? I failed to remove my email address from that list.
3.? I was sent an invitation to the group.?
4.? I clicked on the link to accept the invitation on the website.
5.? I am no longer Owner of the group.

What can I do to get this corrected?

Back when transfer was free, imported our databases.? I was then able to use that guidance to create json templates.

So, not sure that will help but may let you see certain characteristics of each cell.

OK thank you Shal. It makes sense. Yes all my other settings are fine. People are working out the kinks on their end but are finding it very easy to change their subscriptions.?
I'll work on my patience.? LOL
Thank you again!

Re: PG Offline users #pgoffline

Could you not hjave saved them as MBox message archives then given them to mark to import? This is what i did for my mail man listsome years ago.
I actually tried asking [email protected] about doing this but only got a form reply. Can you please give any details on how this worked back when you had it done?

Thank you!
