Re: Features & Setup Questions
Since Frances gave you some pointers on subgroups, I'll limit myself to the Transfer questions.
TransferYou have to create the subgroups before starting a transfer for them.? They can have any name you think appropriate.? On the transfer page, you'll enter the Yahoo group to transfer from and the GIO group to use as the destination. Are subgroup memberships automatically transferred or do they have to be confirmed?Members of the groups that will be going into subgroups are added to the main group as well as the subgroup. After the bulk transfer, can late poster and straggler info be transferred?Anything that happens on the YG after the transfer will need to be moved manually by you. About how long will the actual transfer take? From request to initiation? That's the $64,000 question.? Recent reports have run 2 days to 2 weeks.? It all depends on how many requests are in line.? Each of your transfers to a subgroup would e an additional item on the list. Does anyone know if we can put a lock on the Yahoo message boards after the transfer? Many people close their YG to new posts before giving the Go Ahead to transfer.? That prevents missing posts.? There may be something similar you can do for files, photos, databases, etc, but I'm not familiar with them. Does anyone happen to know if Yahoo will be deleting their message archives on Oct 28 or the Dec date?Based on the announcement, and my interpretation, the deletion of everything will be on Dec 14. After the bulk transfer, can the subgroup names be changed? You can change a group or subgroup name any time you want, but there are side effects.? You should be able to find information on that by searching this groups message archives.? "group name change" (without quotes) will find much of it. If you still have questions about the transfer or subgroups after going over these replies, please ask. Re: How to save yg FILES using PG Offline?
#pgoffline
I believe Mark Emmer commented on that.? Just save them out of the program (export) as HTML files, I recall it is 50MB per file and they can be saved in chunks.? Use any HTML editor open them and save them as a PDF file.? I use WordPerfect 8 and yes I know it is old but so am I.? If you save them as PDF , unless you have a PDF editor you won't be able to modify them.? Also when you download them, make sure and make duplicates and only diddle with the duplicates.? In case you crash the one you are working on, you still have the untouched original.

I assume there will be a patch to the program, at least for paid registered users, such as me. Dale On 10/25/2019 3:59 PM, Duane wrote:

Re: [email protected] isn't a member of my Yahoo group
Edward, I did all of that and there is no [email protected] as a member and no one has deleted them. It's a long-shot, but maybe try the browser ritual on your Y!Groups Manage Members page. The ritual addresses a kind of sync mismatch that might cause stale page data to be shown. ? I even checked the moderator & member activity logs and don't see any mention of a [email protected]. I don't know what your experience has been, but in several of my Yahoo Groups the absence of a log entry tells you exactly nothing. Some of the tabs on that page have stopped updating altogether in some groups, and in others new items add to the log hours or days after the event. I was on top of this and checked right away when I received this email to promote them to moderator. Support may be right that there's nothing they can do. They accepted the invitation, and if they can access the group as a member but not promoted to a moderator then they're stuck too. I don't know what to suggest other than to keep checking the Yahoo Group's members list, using Ctrl+F5 periodically to try and sync the data. Re: Acceptance time frame for [email protected] account
#transfer
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
Hi Bruce, I stepped through the instructions for the transfer. Paying was part of it. I created the group, and did the Set up Transfer process. I sent an invite to the address listed from my yahoo group, but have not received any indication that it was accepted. I can see that I have an existing transfer, but the status page is a little confusing, just all the checkboxes I don¡¯t want to uncheck. I have sent the invite a couple of times, but I am now seeing the red box on that page. I don¡¯t remember seeing that earlier. ?"Make sure you have sent an invite to your group for the user? [email protected] . We will send you an email once we've received and accepted an invite. If this message hasn't been updated within 6 hours of you sending your invite, please send another one. This notice will be updated when we have received your invite."?Yahoo won¡¯t let me send the invite again, at least not now.How long should it take for the invite to be accepted? ?I¡¯m sure they are backed up, so maybe this is normal? Thanks Diane |

Other options available through the current version (4) of PGO:
If you hustle, you can do this well within the 14-day trial period. |
Re: PG Offline users

You can adjust the down load speed in the program.? I had mine set at the basic 25 message blocks and then a rest and then another 25.? Some servers will interpret a constant flow out as streaming out like in videos and will give haults in period for that.? I had 74,000 messages in one download.? How can people talk that much.? I did see random haults for several seconds at times which indicates server overloads on YG part.
I figured just to go slow in case there is some secret at the last moment YG gottcha that would pop up.? When getting out of town during a riot or martial law, just act calm, don't move fast, but get out in one piece. |

Even when inviting or direct adding more than 20 per day, do them all at once and they'll be approved shortly. #membernotices
Thanks, Frances, but that is the Wiki page that I already edited to add Duane's info. (It's the second bullet point in your pasted info).
I was just saying that when I searched earlier, I looked in the "Member Notices" page that is linked on the GMF Wiki front page, but this info wasn't there. I'm unclear on the protocol to add it. It doesn't seem like a good idea to copy it there as it'll be out of sync as soon as someone edits one of them. Is there a way to link to that particular portion of the Quick Start Guide? Re: accidentally changed domain name?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDid you try a search for the name? also if you have the subgroup open in web browser, then the first part of the URL should show you the name of the main group. Like abcd.groups.io/....... Then this abcd ist the name of the main group. Isidro

Re: PG Offline users

I also got the warning of a 10,000 message limit, but the download never did stop.? It downloaded all 53,000 messages (about 233 MB in the db3 file).? Average download speed was 2.5 messages/second, which is not a function of my 30 Mbps connection or computer speed.? Either PG Offline spends a lot of time storing each message, or Yahoo is very slow delivering them.? It took about 6 hours.? Be patient, and if Yahoo doesn't stop the transfer at 10,000, you shouldn't either.

Hi.? I successfully got my group up and running.? I would like to know how you keep the messages by owner/moderator at the top of your Topic List.? ?I would like to do that for messages that I want group members to be able to read whenever they want.? New members and older members.
Another thing, I have my members click on a link to subscribe to my new group.? Is there a limit as to how many I can approve at a time.? I saw a 20 day limit in one of the help subjects, but I am not sure if that is for groups that were transferred over or groups, like mine, where I create the group and they just subscribe themselves. Thanks. Jan |
