Just checking: 11 digests from GMF in on day? Suggested groups.io Moderator feature?

Seems that the activity in our group here has greatly increased recently.

I was, when watching the Surge of digests, ?headfirst wondering if I was somehow getting duplicates. But they seem to be genuine separate digests.

?Races two questions, if anyone cares to answer:?

1) What is the cause of the increase? ?Increased migration away from Yahoo with the latest bolix ?there??

2) What determines the number of digests?
At one point, long ago, ?I speculated that the system was designed to generate no more than one every 24 hours.
Doesn¡¯t generate a guy just wants a certain number of posts have accumulated?

Personally, I prefer fewer digests, even if it means they have to be longer and contain more messages in each digest.?

For example, in my lists come as moderator, I would like to set it to one digest per 24 hours, or once a max number of posts have accumulated.

Is that something Group moderators can set?
if not, How do I add it to the suggested enhancements list?

Re: Cant seem to post at Yahoo Groups

I have been having the same issue - today was the day we are moving from yahoo to groups.io and I wanted to give everyone a heads up but nothing is going through no matter what I try, all day. And I know this isn't a groups.io issue but maybe we can start a new group on groups.io... Yahoo Groups Survival and Healing :-D?

Good Luck!

Transferring from Yahoo Groups

When transferring 2 groups from Yahoo Groups and I want one to be the subgroup of the other, is this 1 fee? or 2?

Replies from a pending member to the "Pending Subscription Message" are sent to: <your Group Email Address>[email protected]
If your group were: LindaLiaoGroup
it goes to: [email protected]

It will be received by all Owners and Moderators (of your group) who have their
Subscription > Owner Email
set to "All Emails"

If you are an Owner (or Moderator with appropriate permission) you can set any of your Owner's or Moderator's 'Owner Email' at:
Admin > Members
Click on their row (do not check the box next to their name)
and set 'Owner Email' to "All Emails"

Re: A question

It doesn¡¯t say much more but yes, I only have one group and yes, I select it.?

Hi Steph (and Rich),?
When you check your transfer status, are you clicking in the drop-down box on and selecting your yahoo group name?? When that page first loads, it doesn't actually tell you anything until you select which group you're trying to transfer.

Re: Cant seem to post at Yahoo Groups

Yeah!! We are actually going to the website now! We have to do that to move attachments, delete what we don't want moved etc.?

Question about Deleting and Adding again a site

I have a question from a friend.? This is her first time with groups.io.? She just added a group and clicked on making it Private and not in the Directory.? Now her members can't find it by doing a search.? Does she have to Delete the group and then recreate it again choosing the correct settings?? I'm assuming the settings would be to allow it to be in the Directory.? I know that there was a message that said once you set it to private you can't change it.

Would she be able to use the same group name after deleting it?? Or would groups say that name is used.

Sincerely,

Rli@...

Please explain how to set up a pending subscription message.
Thanks!

Re: What about new members we are adding to our Yahoo Group right now?

I put notices on the description pages at Yahoo that we are moving and added links to the? new groups.

I will not be approving anyone at Yahoo. When they appply, I can send them an email to explain, then add directly? to the new group on Groups.io

Re: What about new members we are adding to our Yahoo Group right now?

If you have a membership request at Yahoo, you would approve, add them at Groups.io and use the message box to explain why tgey are there instead of Yahoo.

If you are keeping the YG also you can approve them later after the transfer.

Re: reading exported group data

Hi

From our FAQ -?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-YahooGroups

Moving message archive, photos, etc.
?
? There are a few third-party solutions to that, including PG OFFLINE, a chrome browser app, and ModTools.?
?
? The problem is what to do with the message archive once downloaded; as there is really no good way to re-upload it to groups.io, to re-link individual messages to their owners, or to provide online message search capability.
?
? An option is simply to print the collection of old messages to a PDF file; at which point you can upload that to the files area of your group. That will give you something, even if it isn't conveniently indexed and searchable.
Currently ?(Oct 2019), the only way to have the correct ownership for files is to have the owner upload it.

That's short for Go Ahead and "Start Group Transfer Process".? What's in the quotes is what you actually see on the green button at the bottom.

Button to Go Ahead With Transfer? #transfer

Hi!
Should I be seeing a GO button on the edit page for the transfer process?
This page??/edittransfer

I have 2 groups in the transfer queue. Invitations have been excepted to both groups. The Groups.io member has been promoted to moderator in both groups.

The next step is to go to the process page and give the go ahead. I click on my existing transfer groups and it takes me to the edit page. But it does not show a button or link to GO ahead with the transfer.

The status box at the top of the page still says they received the invite and will accept it soon. So my edit page has not been updated. It is not showingbthe progress that has been made.

Will Groups.io put a green GO ahead with the transfer button on my edit page? If, so, how long should I wait for that to appear.?

Someone please help me with this. I do not see a way to give the GO AHEAD.

Janis

The only way I'm aware of is to upgrade to Enterprise.? That's supposed to allow you to do almost whatever you want, including the home page, /static/pricing

Re: Moving subgroups and cost?

If you have migrated, you can then fill out another request and just select the items you need to move.? The $200 additional is ONLY for those that want to jump to the top of the line.

Not at all.? I have a 'club' group where we do that very thing.? All membership dues and updates are done elsewhere, but then they can join the group here.
