possible for a member to block other group members?

I am new to groups.io and still playing around with settings etc so forgive me if this is a worn out topic.? I am wondering if a member of my group can block/unblock a specific member?? I see where threads can be muted, still looking at that.

thank you,

Dawn and Deborah:? Please read?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-YahooGroups

Summarizing:??No one has reported any way to get them into your message base -- all indexed and searchable -- without using the Easy Group Transfer and ponying up the money. The best you can do is export your messages to your PC and upload them to the group as a file.?

That would be entirely up to Mark.? All I can suggest is contacting support, but expect a long delay on any reply.

That's an interesting idea, imitating a current moderator.? Mark would have to decide if he's willing to do the extra work involved.? Your best bet would be to contact [email protected] with the details, but expect a lengthy delay for a reply during this busy time.

No. The Easy Group Transfer cannot proceed without someone in the Yahoo group who can perform these functions.

Many actually had no interest in upgrading to premium because they didn?t need the features....but they tried to meet the deadline of 9 am on the 22nd and paid 110$ trying to avoid the price raise to 220$...

Does the remaining moderator have permissions to invite members and promote members to moderator? If yes then you don't have a problem; just proceed as normal.

There is no "setting" for anything on the transfer agent; it just works once Mark tells it to. If nobody can invite and then promote the transfer agent then I'm afraid your Yahoo Group will simply founder. The "simple" option in these circumstances is to post on the Yahoo group with details of how to apply to the new group hosted on Groups.io, or if you can download a list of existing members use the "Invite" function in Groups.io (or even Direct Add if you have a Premium Group) to get them in.

Files and Photos can be downloaded from the Yahoo Group and manually uploaded to Groups.io but their attribution to their originators will be lost. Note that that is potentially a lot of work.

Paid to Move but problems

On Monday night, I paid to move 7 groups. ?All charges were approved by my bank and each group shows I paid for the premium rate.?I set-up the transfer information and received notices that 4 were ready to approve. But when I clicked on the link from the email to approve the transfer for one of the groups, it said that I had to pay to upgrade. I am not paying $220 on top of the $110 I already paid. ?I wrote to support, sending them the page showing I paid but have heard nothing. ?I know that groups.io has a backlog but my money was taken and I cannot complete the process. I really need to hear back from support and am now concerned that something similar will happen with the 3 groups that are still pending - still waiting for 3 yahoogroups invites to be accepted.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks,
Margery

Hi Bruce, delete the transfer moderator and invited it again. When it appeared in my old yahoo group I made it a moderator again (last night) and tried the transfer today. but have the same problem still. Chris

PS sent another email with screen capture just before

Hi Bruce,

?

Did all the correct clicking of buttons as laid out by the instructions etc. The groups transfer shows for a moment but when I come back to the page to check it¡¯s not there. It looks as if you have to start the process again (3 times) I have tried it. See below? (yes I have hit the green button)

Chris -- Did you ever click on the "Give Go Ahead to Transfer" button?

To check status, go back to the transfer page?/yahootransfer and select (click on) the group name from the Existing Transfers menu at bottom right. What does it say at the top of the resulting page??

And if you haven't clicked the button yet, this is where you do it.

Hope this helps,
Bruce

So I logged in this morning and upgraded my account from the free version to the premium....before the price increase. However, I must have signed up for the 1 month versus the yearly.

When I look at my account, I can't seem to find a way to make it into a Yearly account. There's no way to make that adjustment...how does one make this change?

Just bear in mind that it will then have to be rewritten to match its longer term purpose of welcoming new subscribers when they join later.

I think I would also argue that it is much more important that you forewarn your members (assuming that you haven't already) that a move to Groups.io is imminent using a post to your existing Yahoo group. If the first thing people know about it is an email from some organisation called Groups.io of which they have never previously heard then there is a risk that a fair number will regard the email as suspect and mark it as spam, which in turn risks their being automatically removed. See here for the GMF wiki about this.

A bit of advance notice might prevent a lot of confusion later.

Sure, just change them on the Settings page and save them.? You may need to remind folks to delete any bookmarks to the original name.? You'll also likely need to edit some of the notices since they'll have the original information in them.
