Glenn --?Transfer instructions can be found in the GMF wiki at?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Transfer-from-Yahoo-Groups?and also in the Easy Group Transfer section at?/yahootransfer?. Be advised that you'll have to pay for a year of Premium access ($110) to complete the process.

You say people are joining, and I guess that's okay, but for people in your Yahoo group it's really best to let the transfer agent do it. It's also not uncommon to have a few items left behind in the Yahoo group, due to problems with their servers.

Did you get an email from the transfer agent telling you it was done? Can you fill us in regarding at what step of the transfer process you are? We will struggle to tell you what you're doing wrong until you tell us what you're doing.

Files Did Not Transfer

Hello Group,

I have been the owner and moderator of a Yahoo Group called Cruisers Network Online since 2006 and have about 1600 members.? Through the years very valuable things were added to the Files Section, like Cruising Guides to different places in the Caribbean.? Yesterday I completed the set-up of Cruisers Network Online in Groups.io.? People are joining with no problem.? However, so far, none of the Files have transferred over.? Can anyone help me with what I am doing wrong?? I would be most appreciative.? Glenn Tuttle - Parrothedd@....

Re: Cannot get Yahoo group content

?
I have remembered that in the last few years since Yahoo was ''bought'' by verizon you do need a yahoo address to access the web-site and things like the files and photos area. Otherwise you just get email access.

I looked at the group and there's nothing to see, no access to
anything as a non-member. I clicked join and added a note that's
required. I doubt there is anyone there who can approve the
membership. If they do, then you should be able to join also. I'll
leave the group if they approve it after looking around.

Re: Cannot get Yahoo group content

Darius, I think there is one way of trying to contact the current owner an email
<groupname>-owner@... This is obviously for a UK Yahoo Group
It obviously may not work if the owner is no longer active or has changed his address.

This is bad news, but here's how it looks to Yahoo and why you won't
get their help.

If you aren't a member and if it's a closed group, you would have to
have your membership approved before having access to the files and
photos. You said it was your group at one point.

Let's assume it's not your group for a moment, as it might as well not
be if you can't remember your username and password or if they don't
work.

If it's open to the public (you said it's not), and if the public has
access to those areas, then you could download them one at a time then
upload them to your new GIO group, also one at a time.

But you're not a member (from Yahoo's standpoint). So you don't have
"rights" to access the group. Yahoo won't help since it's up to the
group owner (who can't log in) to approve your membership. That's how
Yahoo looks at it.

That means you're stuck if you don't have your login information or
the same contact email address to get your credentials recovered.
Yahoo, if there was any customer support, would think you're trying to
take over the group from the legitimate owner. They won't help you do
that. They used to let someone just run a group as a supermoderator if
the owner couldn't be contacted, to continue the group. But they don't
do that anymore, and you would still have had to be a member back when
they did that. We won't even go into how you do that since you're not
viewed as a member to the system. And it's pretty much a system of
computers that you're dealing with now that they pretty much got rid
of customer service.

You could just start a new group and realize that it will take a while
to build membership. If you have old emails from your group, you could
try inviting those members to the new group.

There's no magic way to recover your access to the group if you don't
have your login credentials, or if someone hacked the group somehow
and took it over, then removed you from the group.

I'm not sure exactly what happened as you didn't give a full history
of what happened, but in any case, it looks like you don't have a way
to get to those files or photos.

Changing Sub Group Email broke invitation links

Hi All,

I changed a subgroups email and then invited folks.? The welcome email text still referred to the old subgroup email,
all links and email addresses had the old email.? Also, the [groupname] still says the old email address.

Is this a known?issue?

Thanks,

re: case for adding Show and Reply To 'All Recipients' options

Re-raising thread a year later to see if the above might be in the Groups.io near-term roadmap.

Our community has re-emphasized the need to not remove folks who are on Cc when Replying to message.

Our current list setting is "Reply to Sender"... although even if I updated to "Reply to Group" I don't believe this would solve the issue of not dropping folks added to Cc?

Cannot get Yahoo group content

Hi, my name is Darius.
I've been struggling for he past 8 months on figuring out how I can get photos, attachments from an old Yahoo group of mine, after the whole Yahoo hack, I couldn't get back on there, and the other mods had the same issue, long story short the yahoo group has been inactive since 2011. Its still up, and I searched for it out of curiosity and found it! I was ecstatic but I couldn't get in since its restricted and requires approval to which on one has access. I've been wanting to try and at least get the photos in he group. Ive been looking everywhere for help, I asked Yahoo support via twitter and they were 0 help, I asked reddit but they laughed at me. You guys are my last hope, please help me out.

Thanks so much!!

Peter -- It may be that she'd have more success logging in using the gmail.com domain. Googlemail is just an alias for gmail. I can send a message to myaccount(at)googlemail(dot)com?and it will arrive at myaccount(at)gmail(dot)com just fine.

This is from her message to me:
"I can¡¯t get on using a password. I pressed email a link and it sent me a link which I clicked on. I was sent straight to a page to add a new topic. I pressed on a menu but nothing allowed me to put in a password.
The link in the "log in" email is not a "password reset" link, as she may be accustomed to. If you click on that link, it logs you in without a password.

If she clicked on the link and it didn't take her to her account page, it may be that she was already logged in. She needs to check the menu at top right of the page (on the blue menu bar). If it doesn't say "Login" up there, but instead displays her Display Name or email address, then she doesn't need to log in...she already is.?

Once logged in, a password can be set by entering one at?/account?and clicking on the Change Password button. This is all explained in great detail at?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Logging-in-and-How-to-Set-a-Personal-Password

Dani -- If I understand you correctly, I believe it is possible.

The default behavior is that any messages left in the Pending queue for more than two weeks are automatically deleted. However, as a Moderator/Owner you can override that timeout by "claiming" the messages. You "claim" a pending?message?by clicking the Edit button. Even if you subsequently cancel the edit, you've still claimed it.??

Such "claimed" messages will remain in Pending indefinitely until you or another Moderator further processes them. In your case, you would open your Pending queue on November 1 and approve them all at once.

One of our members with a googlemail.com email address is unable to successfully access our site.? Her husband witrh a gmail.com email address can.

Sorry I¡¯ve never come across this messaging system before."

I've suggested she clear her cookies etc., ensured that her password is correct via 'Account' but so far, no success.? Any ideas anyone?

Question about moderated messages

?Hi there, I co-own a paint shop pro list that has a "war" the first weekend of every month. Well, we want everyone to be able to pre-load their shares to be "let go" manually?throughout the NEXT war all month. My question is, is this possible? Let's say I want to pre-load today for a war that starts the 1st weekend in november and just let those shares sit and wait needing approval. Can I do that or will the messages vanish from the group? So many of us lose being able to share as much as we would like do to the 40 emails in 30 mins loop ban. Thanks for reading.

Re: members post in inbox but not group

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

psb b,

how does a members post appear in my inbox (I am owner) but it does not appear in the groups messages?

Most likely it wasn't actually a post to the group. It may have been addressed to the +owner address as Frances suggested, or it may have been addressed to you directly.

If the message was sent to you as a group posting then it would have the normal group footer at the bottom, with your email address next to the Unsubscribe link.

Consequently, my reply post doesn't appear anywhere!

What does the To field say in your reply? Most likely it has that member's address rather than your group's posting address.

In looking at email addresses in your inbox, don't be fooled by display name text.

If the From or To address field contains an email address inside <angle brackets> (yellow highlighter in the screenshot) that is the actual email address. Any text to the left of the angle bracketed address is just Display Name text. Even when it looks like an email address, as in the example screenshot, the Display Name text is not used as an email address.

Re: members post in inbox but not group

Was it addressed to the group owner??

Or if not, check your settings in Admin -?Message Policies -

There is the option to allow non-members to post: ?if checked, owners and moderators can approve a post from a non-member. This is true even in a non-moderated group. Members can read the post and respond, but the non-member would not see the replies. You would need to forward them, summarize the replies and email the summary to the non-member, or invite the non-member to join.
