Don,
? ? ? ? ? ?Then you are exceptionally lucky.? ?I have been involved in a very great many online discussion groups over the years, and have now been moderating several for a while now, and I have seen most of them have issues where stern moderator warnings (both private and public) and the occasional banning have been required. ? ? ? ? ? ?There are also simply people who get on each other's nerves for reasons that no one besides themselves can really fathom.? I'd far rather they have the option to "individually ban" (via ignoring) the content posted by each other than having to deal with the repeated hissy fits that virtually always occur if they cannot. ? ? ? ? ? ? I have also found that heavy-handed moderation tends to squeeze the life out of a group very quickly.? ?Adults can, do, and should be able to have disagreements, even heated ones.? ?It is entirely possible to have a vehement disagreement with out being unbearably disagreeable.? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI think keeping the peace in a group is up to the owner and/or moderator of that group first, and an ignore option is not needed if the owner and/or moderator are doing their job. I have only had to keep the peace two times in 10+ years, and it was done without having to kick anyone out of the group. ? Don ? I have never understood why that option was not a part of Groups.io.? ?Owners and moderators should not be able to use it (as we need to be watching everyone and all traffic they generate, in fact, I'd block any ignore list the moment anyone was elevated to moderator, with notification, and never allow owners to create one in the first place) but having the ability to ignore certain users would be a blessing for many regular members. -- Brian?-?Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763?? ? ? ?Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?~ George Santayana |

Re: New to group and need help
Hi, I had some time to go through the activity log and found her 3 attempts to send mail. So, I guess that means she's sending to the right place. And, I verified the email address is the one that I accepted. I'm not really sure what to do now? She's still not able to send.

Re: VIA [when messages received in email]
Marcio,
It is not done for that purpose.
? That form of alteration, user=[email protected] is a work-around for Yahoo Mail's use of DMARC to request that other services reject any message from their users which did not arrive directly from a Yahoo Mail server. The change makes the From domain of the message, so that the message is no longer subject to Yahoo Mail's DMARC policy. Groups.io intentionally made it easy for you to manually "unmask" the address. You see a more drastic modification of members' From addresses in Yahoo Groups. They too substitute their domain () for the member's service, but they do it to all messages, not just those sent from users of benighted email services. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýShal,Those email services consider it a security feature to alert their users when messages have arrived through a mailing list rather than directly from the sending member. The other way I can understand this "via groups.io" thing is that it's a way of preventing spam or undesired private emails from others. I gather it when I look at the addresses. They appear to be "masked", yet it's quite easy to edit and "unmask" them. Just my two cents. Cheers, AKA Starboy Sent from a galaxy far, far away. |

Re: VIA [when messages received in email]
Gloria,
It does not.
It depends on the email service / application used by the member reading the message, but some will show "via " for all messages that pass through Groups.io (or any other email list), and others will show it only for messages from members using certain email services (such as Yahoo Mail or AOL) that put DMARC restrictions on their user's messages.
It cannot be. Those email services consider it a security feature to alert their users when messages have arrived through a mailing list rather than directly from the sending member. Re: New to group and need help
Frances, Shal, doesn¡¯t Groups.io automatically adjust the membership after the required number of emails are sent by the new member? I don¡¯t think you have to do this manually.? Yes, if the group has the New Users Moderated box checked. And if a moderator approved the set number of messages. Linda didn't specify that, and I didn't want to dive into an aside until we've got a better handle on her primary question.
