Re: Need Approval for Invites #inviteapproval

Bruce,

this restriction exists. Yahoo has a similar restriction, but it kicks
in at 100 invitations instead of 20.
There's a very significant difference.

Yahoo's restriction is a true restriction: the mechanism will not allow more than that.

On Groups.io the limit is merely a trigger for moderation. One can Invite/Direct Add your full list at one time, and all of them will be approved at once.

No, the limit is for all groups.? Looking at the message that Bruce linked to, it clearly states "Now, if you invite/direct add more than 20 people in a 24 hour period, your invite/direct add will be moderated and subject to being approved by me, which I will try to do quickly."

Hi Bruce,

Can this limit of 20 invites at a time be overcome by paying for a Premium subscription to Groups.io?

That might could be a workaround for the OP of this thread.

Just was wondering . . .

Cheers!

It generally takes only a few hours. See??for an explanation of why this restriction exists. Yahoo has a similar restriction, but it kicks in at 100 invitations instead of 20.

Thank you both!

Shal, good to know that digests are cleaned up at least, and yes, I've observed the blue "..." on the web interface. It's not so bad for those reading individual emails, as you say.

Duane, that is just what I want to say! May I borrow your guideline on that? And is the information you mention on "Trimming Message Clutter" available somewhere public where I could link to it in my group's Wiki?

Hi,
Sometimes, after a particularly frustrating editing session, I've been lucky to get the Approve button to show by flipping the phone over on its side for the widescreen view.

I received the following message when I invited our 280 teachers/tutors to our group:

You have reached the limit for number of invites that can be sent out without approval. Once your new invites have been approved, they will be sent out. You will receive a notification when this happens.

How long will it take for these invites to be approved?? Our G+ community ends on 4/2, and I wanted to get the teachers in this weekend.

Re: Problems editing Wiki or Messages on Mobil Devices

Ken,

Yep what you see is all I gots.
Unfortunate.

I was also unable to zoom out far enough to get the rest of the buttons on my phone, but I thought with a tablet you might have better luck.

On the 1st screen, you can double tap and select say one word, but as
soon as you try to drag a handle the entire screen gets selected.
Using my smartphone (Android) it is touch and hold to select a word and get the pair of select handles. I can then drag either handle to select as much or as little as I like. It is a bit awkward with so little screen space and my fat fingers, but it doesn't jump out to select the whole screen or otherwise become inoperable. In fact dragging out beyond the visible text causes the screen to scroll such that it is possible to select more text than fits on my screen, and still control the endpoint.

I tried using both the Google Mail app's built-in browser and Chrome, the only two I have installed.

Re: Reply To Sender

Jim,

Our footer shows "View/Reply Online (#1102) | Reply To Group | Reply
To Sender | Mute This Topic | New Topic" for some emails but not for
others.
Are you talking about the differences between the footer of a formatted message (as above) and a plain-text message? Or something else?

What Frances said.

See also: /g/GroupManagersForum/message/5785

Unlike the Files section (of a Groups.io group or a Y!Group) these are web pages that can be edited in place, no downloading/uploading required. The composition tool for creating and editing these pages is almost identical to those for New Topic, Reply, or editing a message using a group's pages.

Re: Speaking of Wiki

Hi Bill and Marie,

A wiki is?a website that allows collaborative editing of its content and structure by its users. A wiki is a Web site that allows users to add and update content on the site using their own Web browser. This is made possible by Wiki software that runs on the Web server. Wikis end up being created mainly by a collaborative effort of the site visitors

The most common is Wikipedia which says that the purpose is to benefit readers by acting as an encyclopedia.

There is a wiki function for each group. For Group Managers Forum, it is a series of help pages.
In my personal Group, I used it with my sisters to plan a cruise and excursions in our ports of call.

Your first screen shot looks like the ending drag handle is misplaced or
something. That seems like a bug to report to [email protected], if you
haven't already. Beta isn't for bugs.

The bit with the editing tool buttons is a little less clear-cut, but Su
has reported it as a bug so we'll see what happens.

Please keep in mind the hashtag work-around that we discussed several months ago:?

-- In group Settings, under Message Policies, check the box for Hashtags Required.
-- Set Hashtag Permissions to "Posts by subscribers can only be tagged with existing hashtags, otherwise the message is bounced."
-- Create ONE hashtag for the group and set its Topic Duration to one hour, and
-- Train everyone who is allowed to post to apply the hashtag every time.*

I believe?others have written asking?about that feature as well.
They have...but it seems Mark is disinclined to provide that functionality (i.e.: "the system wasn't really designed for that type of usage").

Good luck,

*Hmmm...another option I just thought of would be to set up an email integration for the group. You could then set the #email hashtag to delete the topic after one hour and just retrain everybody to post to the integration address.

Re: Asking for help (was Re: [GMF] Prevent including whole previousmessage?)

Ales,

Like i say i was asking if i can connect Sendiio autoresponder in
Funnels Freaks and how to create squeeze page in Funnels Freaks
Neither of those seem to have to do with Groups.io.

I think you still need to find the right place to ask, this isn't it.
