Sending images on Apple devices
I have a subscriber telling me that they cannot send images as attachments on their Apple device. They all have to be embedded.
Is this true or am I being handed a line? Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Adding entries to your own database will be more work until then, but should do what you want.? As a suggestion, you could have a column that you fill in when you've completed your detail entry, say a Y/N option, then you could sort on it to easily see which members are incomplete. After a quick think, maybe you could have a database that only had a Y/N column, along with the members email address, that you could fill in after adding a Note to their member page.? Probably lots of possibilities, some less work than others. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýSamuel, the directory may be public to the rest of the group, but the member list in Admin isn¡¯t. There is a pink NC beside member names that have not been confirmed. It would be nice if the NC were sortable from the dropdown menu - like bouncing and banned. I wanted to know if there is a way to see in the list of members whether a member has a note or not. (the answer is: not yet, but it may be in the pipeline) 2. I was looking for a way to mark members as their real-world identities having been verified by a human being. The "notes" field would be a good way to do that, since I could add information about each member that that member may consider private and not to be shared with other members of the group. A database would be another option, I suppose. A database has the extra advantage that one can add all kinds of other information about each member (e.g. a picture). I've created a database for this, and will play with it a bit. I just had to export all members as a CSV file and them import it into the database to begin with. Re: Help: Earthlink now bouncing emails sent to *me* from Groups.io groups I own
Shal,
having the same problem with Earthlink -?550 IP 66.175.222.12 is blocked by EarthLink. Go to earthlink.net/block for details. You mention that Junu and Virginia presumably unbounced themselves.? How is that done?? What is the Unbounce Operation? Also, what does the Bounce Probe do? ? I sent one to those affected and see in the Recent Successful Delivery that the message was accepted. Re: See in membership list if there are notes
Hi Samuel,
there have been recent discussions about the notes field and the fact that it's not immediately obvious if any notes have been entered for a member. I think it's on a 'to do' list but not sure exactly when or if that will happen. Members who have not confirmed their status show in the member list with a NC badge/icon.? See the Wiki entry at /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Status-Badges-in-the-Members-List for details of other status badges. If you have a premium or enterprise plan and use the Direct Add feature then the NC status is bypassed as they are confirmed when they are added. Regards, Andy |
See in membership list if there are notes
Hello
I'd like to be able to see which of our group's members' identities have been confirmed, without visiting each member's profile individually. I've noticed that there is a "notes" field that is visible only to moderators, and I think it best to write identifying information in that field (so that users can still have privacy from others, even though their identifying information is known to moderators). However, when I view the member list, I can't see (in the list) which members have notes. So, is there a way to make that visible? Alternatively, what do you suggest for my requirement? I would like ot know who these people are (I'll gather that information myself), but I don't want to force them to reveal it to other members. I suppose I could create a database visible only to the moderators, but that won't help me see at a glance which members are NOT yet identified (will it?). Thanks Samuel |
Re: Database help please
Pamela, I was about to just give up -- I've wasted another 2 hours today trying to import the .csv file First off, I feel somewhat remiss that no one pointed to GMF's Wiki article on setting up a database. That doesn't cover export or import though, so perhaps we need another page. I have not had any experience at all with JSON format but will now explore it and see what happens. JSON is a container format that provides lots of description about the data it contains. In that regard it is superior to a CSV file, which at best has a top row with column headings. JSON is a good format for copying a database from one group to another, or duplicating a database, but you might find it tricky to edit by hand. There are apps out there for editing JSON files, but I think that is getting way more technical than you need. So I think at this point we may need some detail on what you've tried, and what goes wrong. I mean precisely identifying what pages you're on and what functions you are using. I'll start with an example from my test group. Note the buttons below the table labelled for the columns. You can click those to hide any you don't need to see. Like the ID number and the date/time each row was updated. I clicked Export Table and in the dialog box that opened clicked CSV Format. What happens next will depend a bit on your browser and your operating system, but in my case (Firefox under Win10) it opened a dialog that asked me if I wanted to Open with or Save File. I chose Save File. I then clicked the checkbox in the header (to the left of ID, above) to checkmark all the rows, then clicked Delete Rows. This gave me an empty table into which I would import my changes. I opened the saved file, Test of replacing rows.csv, in Excel, added content to the not needed column and sorted the numbers column. I saved the file. Coming back to my empty table I clicked Import Rows. This opened a dialog with a Browse button. I used that to locate the edited .csv file, checked the File Has Header Line box, and clicked Import. However, the objective has been achieved. The numbers are now in the same order as the ID numbers, meaning that by default the table will open with the numbers in order. That's what you want to achieve with your month column. Re: Database help please
Thanks Bob,
I was about to just give up -- I've wasted another 2 hours today trying to import the .csv file -- and send a message to our members that they will have to sort the database every time they look at it. I have given in to the fact that the Database line/entry numbers cannot be changed - no matter what I do - so I just have to live with it. I have not had any experience at all with JSON format but will now explore it and see what happens. As you have probably gathered I can handle the basics but my 'not so trusty' 71yr old brain does not comprehend the technical stuff :( Many thanks for your advice Kind regards, Pamela |

The export works fine but for some reason I do not seem to be able to import the file back into a database. ?Is there a way of doing this?Pamela, There are two ways to export files, as JSON or as CSV.? If you wish to export not only the data in the database but the format of the entire database, to rebuild it from scratch, you must export in JSON format. If you simply wish to export and reimport the records (rows), CSV works but then you will have to delete all of the original rows prior to importing the updated CSV. Have you tried going to your own listing in Admin in your group, to Members, to your own name, then scrolling down for Posting Privileges on your record? Be sure to save.

Are your groups "Basic" i.e. free, or paid - for? If the "non - working upload" is a free group then you have most likely run out of storage space; the limit for Files / Photos / Attachments is 1 GB. If you click on "Upgrade" on the left hand side of the group web UI you will find information about the total storage space used.
