Re: Unmoderate Calendar event reminder emails?
Hi Amy,

I understand why some people want this to be consistent with the group moderation settings. I have contacted Support (Mark) about this issue, and asked if it makes sense to have an option in the settings such that the event reminder emails are not to be moderated if the event is created by a moderator or any member whose posting privilege is set to "not moderated". Mark replied: "It may make sense, although I'm always concerned with having too many settings. I'll add it for consideration." Hope he'll get around to it soon. Moderation of messages from non-members
Hi,
I have a group and several subgroups that are set to moderate messages from non-subscribers.? This seems to work fine at both levels if I send in a message from an email account that I have not registered at all with groups.io. However,? if a member of one group (main or subgroup) sends (emails) a message to a subgroup that they are not a member of, the message is not flagged for moderation and the sender of the message receives no notification of rejection either.? The activity log on the target subgroup shows that someone tried to send a message but other than that, you wouldn't know it happened.? Does anyone know if this is by design for some reason? I think it would be helpful (for me at least) to have the message flagged for moderation and then the group setting could be defined as moderate messages from non-members (which would also cover those not registered with groups.io at all). As mentioned previously a document sent as an attachment appears as an attachment to the message on the web UI, and is sent out to those subscribers who have emailed deliveries. Its size is added to the Attachments total, but as also mentioned before it cannot be found in the "Emailed Photos" album. If the message with its attachment is deleted, it is also deleted from the storage total. The test was conducted using a 4 MB pdf. Chris |

Chris,
I might try uploading a "big" pdf (not here!) to see if it adds to any of the available totals simply out of curiosityFYI, I have a support ticket open with Mark (8227) regarding the uploading of large files. On frequent occasions when the file size is greater than 400MB the upload appears to complete but the screen that I started the upload from is not refreshed correctly showing the uploaded file. Sometimes I just get a message about Groups.io being down for maintenance (and an option to see some cats!). At other times I just get a blank browser screen and if I refresh it (F5) and confirm a resend where prompted, the upload starts again (according to my network traffic monitor and the status message in the bottom left corner of the Chrome browser window). Regards, Andy |
Re: Some messages not coming through
Well, I feel silly, but after checking my spam folder again, there they were! I still find it very strange that they just suddenly started getting filed in spam - and not all of them at that. But regardless, obviously not an issue with groups.io but on my personal email end. |

The associated URL is: https://GROUPNAME.groups.io/g/SUBGROUPNAME/attachment/MESSAGENUMBER/ATTACHMENTNUMBER/FILENAME or if you don't have subgroups, /g/GROUPNAME/attachment/MESSAGENUMBER/ATTACHMENTNUMBER/FILENAME It might interest folks to know that if you export a group, attachments are embedded as a mime part in each message in mbox format. There is NO separate folder exported -- even the Emailed Photos folder is handled in this way. Hope something in there helps, Bruce -- The system Help is your friend.??/static/help |

Maybe there needs to be an "emailed files" folder, similar to the "emailed photos" folder?Well that's a can of worms that I'm not going to open on beta; someone else can! Attachments DO take storage space, /static/pricing#what-is-counted-towards-the-storage-limits-for-my-group.? I've also never figured out exactly where they're stored, but know that they can be deleted by deleting them from the message.? Maybe there needs to be an "emailed files" folder, similar to the "emailed photos" folder?

Some messages not coming through
Hi there,
I am experiencing a new problem with out group. It seems that some messages are making it through to email, but others are not. I'm not yet certain if everyone is having this issue, or just me. When I am logged into the group, I can see all the messages, but some of them never came got delivered to my email. I've checked, deleted, spam, etc. just in case, and they are nowhere. What's strange is that this was never an issue until this month it seems. I am also unsure if it is just certain members whose messages are not being delivered. So far, there are two different members I can see messages from on the group page, that never made it to my email. Anyone got an ideas what could be causing this??? Thanks so much for any help, Tiffany |
Interesting... or not?
In doing some testing via shalstest I found that both pdf and Word documents could be sent as attachments; they appear as working clickable icons in the web UI and get sent out with the resulting email as attachments. (FWIW "attachments" do have to be enabled!)
However, I cannot find if they are "stored" anywhere - they certainly don't turn up among the "emailed photos" and they don't appear in Files either. Does anyone know where / how they are stored, and if they count towards a group's storage limit? This isn't an "issue" but I am rather curious... Chris |
