Private messaging in the context of group discussions is possible if it is enabled for the group. See Admin>Settings>Message Policies>Reply To and uncheck the box saying "Remove Other Reply Options."

There are no features that work as you want.? One option would be to create a subgroup for the permanent members where you could store information that temporary members shouldn't have access to.?

Not via the "Upload Photos" method.? The option is available with "Upload Files" and there is nothing stopping you from uploading photos to the files section, so you could get around it that way. ?
