Re: Change Password

Did you type the new password in the text box before clicking the Change Password button?

Change Password

I went to change my Groips.io password.? I logged in and found an area with the log in data and a change password button, I clicked on it, and it did nothing.

Huh?

Re: prevent people from joining subgroups?

Jan,

1.? How do you moderate one person all there posts?? Is that override moderates?

Yes. The "Override" options for a member's Posting Privileges override the group setting for just that one member.

2.? I ha e a member of sub group that cannot add files.? How do I allow a non moderate to add files to subgroup

In the Settings page for the subgroup (each subgroup has its own), in the Features section at the bottom, you need to set the Permissions option for Files to Subscribers can view and upload. Don't forget the Update Group button at the bottom of the page before you leave the page.

Re: Problem uploading files

You nailed it, Ken!? I knew it had to be a simple permissions issue, but I just couldn't find it where to go to set re-set it.? Once I did went to the location you pinpointed for me??Admin->Settings->Features->Files->Permissions and set it to "Subscribers and view and upload", and saw that my group was not set to that, it was very clear why I was having the problem.??

Many thanks,

prevent people from joining subgroups?

The default group is for everyone, but I want to prevent people adding themselves to subgroups. How can I do this please?

Re: Invitations rejected as spam #membership #bouncedemails

Thanks Jim: I'll start composing my begging letter to the abuse address now. ;-)

For info, "domains.in.question" was my placeholder for the domains in question, as I didn't think the identity of the establishment was relevant here.

Writing to the abuse address is the solution, but the domain given -
domains.in.question - isn't routable over the Internet. It may be a domain
local to the academic institution's network... which means your prospective
members should complain... and if that complaint address doesn't work, then
they can try
postmaster(at)the_academic_domain and/or abuse(at)the_academic_domain .

Re: list subgroup members

For an admin, use the Admin > Members page while in the SG.? It only shows those that are actual members of the SG, not any implied members, such as moderators of the main group.? Regular members could see the list if you make the Members page visible in the Settings for the SG.? This includes email addresses, so may not be suitable for some groups.

list subgroup members

Is it possible for SG members (or admin) to see a list of only those in a specific group? The page where you see it all is becoming confusing!

Subject: [GMF] Problem uploading files

?

We're starting a new group, not migrating from Yahoo, but moving files and photos from elsewhere.? At the moment we have one owner, six moderators, and two test members who are non-moderators.? Things have been going well and we're able to import Discussions and Photos from another group but we are having difficulty with Files.

As the owner, I can upload files.? One of the moderators can also upload files.? The rest, it appears, cannot.? ?Ditto the two test members--they cannot upload files.

When they try to upload files by clicking on Files in the left side menu, the Files page pops up but the Files icon is grayed out.? I've been through Settings, but I cannot find anything there that controls permission to upload files.

For the record, the +Uprade page shows that the group is using 41MB of total storage, so it would not appear to be a problem of too much data.

I see this issue has been raised before, but I never found an answer in the archives to this particular problem.

One temporary workaround to get the files uploaded might be making one moderate into a co-owner, but it's important for us to have rank-and-file members able to upload files too, so the workaround isn't a good longterm solution.

Can anyone offer help on this?

Many thanks,

Milt Baker

Invitations rejected as spam #membership #bouncedemails

Hi.

Has anyone run into this problem before? Invitations to join our group are being rejected by a couple of related domains belonging to the same academic institution with the error:

Failed - 550 5.7.1 <user@...>... PTR-listed: Mail from your subnet is rejected. Contact abuse@... to have this matter resolved. (IP: 66.175.222.12)

This is probably related to the discussion about the same IP address from back in June?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/8626?-- but then the problem was messages being rejected because too many were being sent. Here, we're not even managing to get these users onto the mailing list!

Any thoughts on what might be done to remediate the reputation of the sending server? For now our first line of attack is to ask the two users concerned to use their home, rather than work, email address; the next will be to write to the abuse addresses and beg. ;-)

Re: organisation / use of subgroups

I am a moderator/owner of a closed egroup on Yahoo that I want to move to another group site. Yahoo is not performing and is actually presenting many problems compared to when our group started in 2010.?
We have about 750 members but our potential is more than 6000 members, it's a closed and private community group that accommodates all kinds of posts, including political, religious, for sale, for rent, etc. and anything the poster wants to present as long as it is not vulgar, not sexual in any way and not insulting to another member...¡.....it also has to be something normally judged in society as acceptable.
So, assuming our group would remain private, what are the steps to accomplish the move??

Re: organisation / use of subgroups

In our co-op group, it's pretty simple. We have multiple committees and social groups. If post is TO a committee or social group, it goes in the subgroup. If the post is ABOUT a committee or social group, it goes to main.
